Great Camera, Even for a Beginner, Like Me

    |
    Posted .

In my humble, beginner, but very researched opinion, this is a great camera. There's a lot more that I need to learn about its capabilities, but I'm so glad I chose this one, especially for the price. It can't be beat. It is easy to use, just read the owners manual, and do a little online search, you'll be good to go. The photos are crisp, clear and colorful, even on automatic settings. It has WiFi, but not Bluetooth, a fully articulating screen. It is NOT touch screen, which I didn't even think about at all, but it's no bother to me. It's easy to navigate and use. I still have a lot to learn about photography in general and this is my ideal camera at this price point. Many lenses will work with it, it's not heavy (IMO), it's fairly compact and fits in my small backpack purse. Love it. This isn't a tech filled review because I don't have all the extra tech accessories to go with the camera...yet.

Love it, Love it, Love it!!!

I have compared 4 Nikon SLR cameras and this one is the best, hands down! I am SO very happy I bought this camera. The picture clarity is awesome! Picture noise is not an issue! With the others it was an issue, but not with this one! Easy to use! This camera is SO LIGHTWEIGHT! My lenses work better on this camera than they did on the previous models! And this is so fun to use! I am an avid nature photographer enthusiast and love taking shots of birds in flight. They come out clear!! Of course it takes work, but this camera makes it fun and when the day is done you have great pictures to show for your work. I only use the manual settings and I am so pleased with how interactive they are. The display is easy to read and understand and also informative. I am so pleased with this camera! I spent about a week with each camera, but after less than an hour with this one, I was totally sold. And the battery life is great, too.

    D5300 DSLR

This is a VERY nice entry-level to intermediate camera for the price! We did a lot of research before making the purchase and felt for the flexibility, this was the camera for us. I wish it was weatherized but I can't complain too much about that, it's still a great value. Feature-packed and ready to go anywhere from full Auto to Full Manual depending on your experience level. We haven't tried the video on it yet but hope to soon.

    great camera, lots of features

this is a great starter camera for those wanting to upgrade from point and shoot to dslr. there a lots of features some that will take some time and research on how to use. my only complaint so far, is and I don't know if it is even an option, but you can't convert file format in the camera. so if you like to shoot in raw (nef) format, you will need some kind of picture editing program to convert your pictures to jpeg, so that they can be viewed on most tablets and computers. otherwise you can just shoot in jpeg format to begin with, but you lose all your picture editing features, there is a feature that will allow you to take both jpeg and raw pics at the same time, but it will take up most of your memory card. overall I am satisfied with this camera. picture quality is amazing in my opinion.

    Easy to use for beginner

    |
    Posted .

This is an easy to use DSLR. Only thing I didn't like was the short battery life. I am not sure why but if I don't use it for awhile (about a week) I will go to use it and it will be completely dead when I know I had a fully charged battery before. My canon T3i does not do this and I have gone 6 months without using that camera and the battery remained fully charged. Both instances the battery was left in the camera and the camera power switches were in the off mode.

Photography has been my hobby for over 40 years. This camera is by far the best I have owned. The quality of the pictures is fantastic thanks to the Nikkor lenses. The many features and ease of use make it a great camera for a beginner or an advanced hobbyist.

    Fantastic camera, has worked flawlessly!

So I have now owned this camera for 2 years. It has been amazing every step of the way. It has held up to traveling all over and my general clumsiness. It was my first DSLR and it was a breeze to figure out how to work it. I'm not a professional by any means but I do love photography. I get compliments from a lot of photographers I know on my picture quality. They usually aren't surprised when I tell them what camera I use, it has a good reputation. I've even dropped it on it's lens and it held up perfectly and still takes perfect photos. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to buy it.

    Lightweight yet powerful

    |

Researched DSLR cameras and had a tight budget. It was a toss-up between the 750 and this one. Picked the 5300 due to the cheaper price, and its lightweight and abundant features, including WiFi and video. At first, the lighter weight made me feel like I had a toy camera but after taking my first set of shots, this is definitely professional grade. Features are great for an advanced beginner. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

Great Camera but has design problem

    |
    Posted .

I love my camera but it has a horrible design problem that has deleted some of my most important pictures : my daughter's award ceremony @ school, vacation pics. There is a button to the left of the trash/delete button that if you accidentally press it, it will delete EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TAKEN IN THE LAST SESSION! I don't know what that button is for still but I have press it twice now and I am so mad. Why would you put any button that would delete pics right there? Other than that it takes great pics, and has a little much to learn for a beginner but doable. I did buy the long range lens for $200. and that take equally great pics. I want to buy the wide lens. Also, when I bought this I was told at the store that I could get the red colored camera ordered which is what I wanted after I bought this black one but the sales person knew I was taking this one on vacation..hmmm. Then when I got home I noticed the receipt said no returns on electronics so I felt duped into purchasing the black one. I didn't realize the person had not even take my name or any info to order the red camera that I wanted. . So I kept the black one. Such bad business ethics from a sales person but I can't imagine anything could've been done after the fact.I had used the camera.

The Nikon D5300 DSLR camera comes with a safety feature that prompts you when you are about to delete images and asks for a confirmation before deletion of images. This occurs whenever you are using the delete button, formatting the card, or updating firmware on the camera. If you are still having a problem with your images being deleted accidentally please contact Nikon Support. Nikon

    Can't stop loving it

    Posted .

So before I bought a 1 000 dollar DSLR, I made a lot of research about the camera and it took months to choose the right camera and to be honest I'm super happy that I choose the Nikon d5300, I've had it for almost 2 months and I've taken over 3 000 pictures (probably more). Something that I've found untrue in a lot of reviews is that the battery is "bad" or that it only last for like 500-600 pictures, but after using it for 2 months i've only charged it 2 times, and i've been recording videos as well Before I bought the nikon I've been using an old canon for probably 3-4 years and I never felt that passionated for photography, but after only 2 months i've gone from taking pictures in automatic mode and not knowing that much about ISO and so on, but when I started using the nikon I fell in love with cameras and photography. One thing you should know if you're buying this camera is that you have to buy a memory card with at least 32 GB, because when you use the highest picture quality with raw it will easily take 10-12 mb + 20-30mb per picture but you know what when you see the result of the picture you're going to be more then happy!

    A great upgrade!

I had the Nikon D3100 and recently updated to the 5300. The upgrade is good. It has more features than my previous camera. I do not care for Video, but the Photos have a noticeable increase in quality and it has many more options to discover for an Amateur like me.

    Great Semi-Pro DSLR

I bought this camera to replace my venerable Nikon D60, that finally had one too many shutter clicks on it. I am able to use all of the AF-s lenses that I purchased for my old camera, but beyond that the improvements are unbelievable! I used to be able to take 5 or 6 pictures in a burst, now I can just keep clicking and not worry about filling the memory buffer. The low-light sensitivity is far superior on this model, so you can take great picture at evening sporting events. The built-in WiFi is incredibly handy, allowing you to transfer your photos straight to your smartphone, and with GPS coordinates. Oh, and did I mention it can shoot video?!

Great features for this camera. Send photos to your iPhone or other device via wireless built into the camera to show off your photographic expertise right away! 1080P video. This is my 4th Nikon camera. They have never let me know and I don't expect this one will either. Many effects that can be added to the photos. Very easy to use as well.

When I saw the sale price on this camera I procrastinated for a day about buying it then when I went to purchase it I found out they were all sold out everywhere in every state online as well. Well I kept checking daily to see if they were getting more and didn't wee anything come up aftera week I finally seen 1 pop up for sale and I pounced on that like a lion on a zebra. Next time I'll learn not to procrastinate when a DSLR goes on sale for more then half off and is a close out I got real lucky my next choice was 500 more.

    Beginners' Choice

I had a Nikon D3200 which is a great camera but recently I had to change it due to a bad maintenance given and got a Nikon D5300. It's an excellent camera for any beginner. Images are sharp the new lense that locks short is handy. At least for me that my bag is not big it's a plus. I didn't it at first (at that time was the 5100) because of the flip screen believing it was flimsy and easy to break, to my surprise the screen is tough. For any beginner this camera will handle and last for a long time. The only thing I would of add as also to the D3200 is a second knob on the front for when you're on manual. Im not hating the pressing a button and turn the roll knob but that's just my taste hehe

    Great Camera, Easy to Use

I love this camera. The internal WIFI is so handy and makes transferring pictures from the dslr to my iphone a breeze. I also love the tilt screen...some reviews called this "amateurish" when I was researching this, but being able to place the camera on the ground to take ground level photos or angle it up to take vertical pictures of buildings or monuments makes this option a no-brainer. All in all, I would definitely recommend this camera.

This camera is great for beginners. After watching a few short videos on YouTube I was able to learn all the functions and shortcuts. I've had this camera for a few weeks and I'm already taking some cool pictures in full Manuel mode.
