I have been an Onkyo owner for the last 15yrs. This is without a doubt one of their best products, the sound is incredible, it's easy to use. It's very easy to set up and with minimal hdmi wires. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I bought this open box and got a Great price. Couldn't say no.. I had been looking for replacement for my 10 y/o Onkyo receiver.. Went to see what recieivers were in my price range and Lucked up on this... Very nice. Sound is great!

Easy setup, Easy to navigate menus and loaded with features. Sound and picture quality are outstanding. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants reasonably priced surround sound system with the quality of higher end systems.

I am absolutely thrilled with this receiver. I made this purchase to replace a Sony receiver that I really liked, however, it had become a bit outdated since I need something with 4k pass through. The Sony had replaced a Pioneer that I also loved. This Onkyo blows them both out of the water. It is incredibly easy to use and has every option you could dream of, including 6 hdmi inputs with 2 out. The AirPlay and Bluetooth compatibility also work great. I have it set up as a Dolby Atmos 5.2.4 configuration, and couldn't be happier with the quality of sound. I can't imagine needing anything more than this. I took a shot on it when Best Buy had it marked down to $250, but knowing now how good it is, it's definitely worth the normal $399 price.

This was my first A/V receiver purchase. Specs are excellent for a mid level receiver. I needed to buy new speakers because my old HTIB speakers were only 3 Ohms. The new ones are rated 20W above this receivers 100W @ 8ohm maximum. However, even if your existing speakers are rated less than that, this unit has a setting that allows you to set a maximum volume that prevents them being blown out. Another feature my old HTIB lacked is that you can edit the on screen connections. Instead of Games, you can put PS1 or instead of Streaming Box, you can put Roku. Onkyo has done a really nice job with the TX NR656, especially at a pricepoint of $250-$300. I'm more than satisfied. Like I said earlier, you can spend more for a 7.2 receiver but why?

I replaced a Demon 7.2 unit with this one due to 4K compatibility, which this resolved. I was also happily suprised to discover that when you use bluetooth audio it comes through all the speakers unlike my old Demon unit.

I love this receiver! I play music from my computer and my phone on it using the Bluetooth connection. It auto detects devices and works in sync with my TV. It has amazing power as well. Overall it's a fantastic buy!

I have set up many receivers over the years and as usual Onkyo comes out on top again. Without having to spend over $1000 dollars for an elite receiver, this one is top notch. My sound has never been clearer.

This receiver is phenomenal! I am completely satisfied with the purchase. I have owned Sony, Kenwood, Dennon AVRs in the past and was hesitant to buy a new one. Originally I bought this AVR due to price and amount of inputs. The receiver exceeded my expectations to say the least. I can listen to music from either my home theater or my living room on the second floor with this unit. The Receiver itself has chromecast capability so if you are a Google Home owner this is a plus. Fantastic power, 2 sub preouts, Atmos capable, and 7.2 or 5.2 configurations, anything a medium to large home theater needs without breaking the bank. Save the bank for the speakers and let the TX-NR656 do the rest

I couldn't be more happy with this purchase. I got it for an amazing price and is loaded with features. It packs a punch! Love the spotify connection. Easy to setup and use. Definitely would recommend.

Bought this as an open box item about 2 weeks ago. Excellent condition. This receiver is an excellent piece of equipment - far more advanced than any receiver I have ever owned. I upgraded to a 4k TV and "needed" to upgrade the receiver as well. Set up was a breeze. Up and running in no time. Only complaint would be the price. It was during Best Buy's open box sale. The receiver was marked as having an original price of $599.99. I purchased it for $300.00 after being told that half the original retail price was the best they could do. Now the regular price is listed as $399.99 and on sale currently for $349.99. I feel a bit mislead about the transaction, but the product itself is great and I would recommend it to anyone!!

this onkyo receiver was perfect for what i needed. it has plenty of power for my polk audio tower speakers. and i managed to get it on sale at a great price. buy it, u will not be disappointed.

Easy set up. Easy to navigate. Paired with my 4K TV & direct TV 4K box, & new sony 4K player, AWESOME!!! My boys even asked to set up Nintendo Switch with the "boom boom" as they refer to it.

Replaced my 800 Onkyo receiver because I wanted one that had hdmi connections. So glad I purchased this one because of all the other options like Bluetooth and wifi. Easy setup, great sound.

No problems so far. Easy set-up. I like the fact that I can stream music from my hard drive to my receiver. Also like the wifi feature that enables me to listen to music stations from around the world.

Bought this to,replace a Dennon 5.1 system and it is a great addition to my home theater. The sound is great right out of the box and was very easy to set up. Love the system and the price.

Purchased this receiver over the holidays on sale, the price was hard to ignore. I have it hooked up to the Sony Core Series speaker set and it sounds better than I could have imagined.

Excellent reciever at this price point. Produces great quality sound. I have a center definitive tech center and pioneer elites L & R and it sounds crisp and clear even at high volume.

Awesome deal for $250. It replaced a 20 year old Onkyo receiver. Set up is easy with on screen menus. Only issue has been a little audio drop off while viewing material from my dvr.
