The newly remake of Pet Sematary had a different twist that was very predictable but it held a lot ground with it’s twist and turns. Not a must see in theaters but good a film to watch at home.

This is a creepy, atmospheric thriller. It takes what you love from the book and original film and amplifies it. The new twist is almost scarier in my opinion. I would definitely recommend especially with the gorgeous steelbook case.

It's a good remake to the original, but like all the movies based from book, doesn't compare.

This new take on Pet Sematary comes from the same duo who made the under seen 'Starry Eyes'. This remake sticks tot eh source material for the most part, but does add and change some things to make it stick out on its own. The changes are welcome and work for this updated take on the story. Performances range form acceptable to solid. Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed was the standout for me. She's a very underrated actress that more people need to know about. Jeté Laurence as Ellie Creed was very good also. John Lithgow as Jud Crandall unfortunately didn't work for me. I like him as an actor, but didn't dig his take on Jud. I mean no Maine accent? Really!? Overall, its a good remake and its nice to now have the option to read the Stephen King novel or watch Mary Lambert's Pet Sematary from 1989 or this updated version.

    Good Take on a Classic

There are good things and bad things about this remake, and about the original. Clearly, the original is better. The tone of the original was much scarier. This version was not bad though. I thought it gave the audience more sympathy for the characters involved, and the oldest daughter dying gave us more input on what was going on in the minds of the recently risen characters, with her dialogue. It was certainly a more interesting take and the situations made more sense in real-world applications. It may not be something you want to watch all the time, but it is something you definitely should see at least once if you're a fan of the original.

    A Killer Re-imagining

As with 2017's IT, this year's adaptation of Stephen King's 1983 novel is an update of an earlier adaptation that has a loyal fan base born of the generation in which King also penned these horror stories. Is this to say those original, filmed adaptations were more in tune with King's stories than today's updates? I couldn't say specifically in regards to IT or Pet Sematary as I haven't had the nerve to open either of those books, but while 1989's Pet Sematary and 1990's IT miniseries undoubtedly share a certain kindred spirit with King’s novels these current re-imaginings operate on a grander scale of sorts-idolizing the source material in a way that translates these stories in more epic terms to the screen. King’s emotionally-driven, character-based work tends to use the horror genre more as a mask for saying what he wants to say which would seem to account for why King’s work has always operated in being more vividly unsettling than straight up scary, but the themes of Pet Sematary are really dark...even for King. Though I have no personal connection or nostalgic ties to either King’s original novel or the original 1989 movie adaptation I tend to be intrigued if not by the premises of King’s works, but for the emotional investment they are able to create through this aforementioned character work. This is why IT ultimately worked so well two years ago for despite having a terrifying clown at the center it was the group of kids and their personal stories as well as the dynamics between them that allowed the movie to work and to be about things besides Pennywise. In directing duo Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s new take on King’s material, there is certainly no fear of going as far as is necessary to evoke the grief that comes along with dealing in loss and more specifically-the loss of a child. Kölsch and Widmyer undoubtedly create a sense of dread from the beginning playing the titular location in a way King would be proud as this sense of dread is not only represented in the literal manifestation of this burial ground, but of the reach it has into the lives of those that both live near and/or meddle in it. An interesting concept and fitting approach, no doubt, but while the emotions are as raw as the aesthetic approach it is a lack of connection to these character’s-especially Jason Clarke’s withdrawn nature despite his character’s actions-that give Pet Sematary a strong sense of purpose if not the lasting, devastating impact it seems pre-disposed to possess. I always been a big fan of the original Pet Sematary movie. It scared the crap out of me as a kid, so when it was announced there was going to be a remake I was fully onboard. The movie is similar in a lot of ways to the original, but then diverts in may ways as well. I found it very entertaining and well acted. I would definitely recommend to fans of the original, or for those that have never seen it. The 4k image and sound are great for this release! Its a very dark movie overall but it looks very good in 4k. There are also a lot of great extras in this release. The alternate ending was especially entertaining.

I have often wondered why, with all the advances in film and special effects today, have there been so few worthy modern screen adaptations of Steven King novels? Now...finally...there are some shining through. I origionally saw this release in theaters and having read the book and seeing the first film adaptation I started catching plot revisions fairly early in and had mixed opinions at the time, but ultimately decided that the changes enhanced the story line. A worthy addition to my personal collection.

As with any movie that is a remake of a classic, it will always be compared to the original. Ultimately, I think this 2019 version is a better made film, but doesn’t quite capture the terror and suspense of the original. Now, this could be because the original scared the pants off me as a kid and I still hold on to that memory, but it’s just how I feel. Ultimately, this is a great film to own on 4K. The film is gorgeously shot with a good cast and comes loaded with interesting special features as well as a digital redemption code.

As a Stephen King fan, I like to buy special editions of his movies, so I bought this SteelBook. The movie, while not the greatest, I still enjoyed it. The reason being, is, I thought the actors were good, and I liked the changes that the movie made from the book. The SteelBook is a nice blood red, with the cat in the foreground. And images of the Semetary are on the back and interior. I think it's a pretty flashy SteelBook. I like it.

Top notch cast. Church, in his many forms, was an absolute delight. The actress playing the daughter deserves lots of high fives and I hope we see more of her talent as she matures. Lithgow was great but it's hard to beat Gwynn. I missed having a Steve King cameo. He always reminds you that we're there to be entertained as well as creeped out.

Well... I really wasn’t a fan of the first one, I did enjoy the sequel to it more This remake was supposed to be better but sticking it to the original, but it missed the mark. It was overall creepy, but then I just lost interest. It wasn’t too good but it was alright. The CGI was just laughably bad! Common now it’s 2019. Technology is better but it seems they didn’t care

Despite the changes and my preference of the original film adaptation, this reimagining of the Stephen King classic story is still quite good. If you go into it with the same mindset of the original film’s sequel, that the novel is simply source material for a new story, you’ll find yourself more open to these changes. And on 4K, the film looks even better.

I don't think this is as good as thr original movie, but it adds an interesting twist to the story. I thought the actor who played the father of the family did a good job.. i will watch any Stephen King adaptation, though.
