I do not review often (although I should) but I have nothing good to say about this product. I am pretty tech-savy and already have my house running under a Smartthings hub. Firstly, as you may have read, if you have an existing ST hub, you will not be able to migrate your devices over to this. This is a minor annoyance but I decided to split my house into a security side (ADT hub) and automation side (ST hub). All devices recognized perfectly including 2 more door sensors, smoke detector, CO detector and water leak sensor. I activated the ADT service without issue however when I go to test the system through the app, it hangs and "Registering for Cellular Service". After speaking with ADT and Samsung multiple times, they state this was a "bug" but neither side would take ownership over it. This "bug" has continued for over a month now and after speaking with Samsung again last week, they stated it has resolved although some units are still affected. I went back to Best Buy and bought a second unit and after going through the steps, the new unit still hangs at "Registering for Cellular Service". Thus, I have given up. I really wanted to make this work. I even tried swapping the radios between the two units, power cycling multiple times and no dice. The device is useless without remote monitoring with ADT. The biggest problem is when there is a problem, neither Samsung or ADT will take ownership of the device. If you call Samsung first, they tell you to call ADT. If you call ADT, the majority of the reps aren't familiar with the device and takes multiple transfers to get to talk to someone who has at least heard about the device. I think Samsung released this product too soon without proper support of this item. If I wasn't using the ST hub for all my automation devices, I'd probably never buy Samsung again.

I received this free with a Samsung tv purchase, I'm glad I did not pay the full price for it! It is very basic, cool that it works without ADT monitoring, but the location settings are very buggy, support is leave a message and someone will call you back. So do you sit at home and wait? It's very limited on what it will work with. Not worth it.

This kit needs a software update. The current time on the Hub would not correspond with my location on smart things app or other devices despite following troubleshooting guides. Did not work with my other Smart Things hub on classic app. Was unable to connect one of the sensors despite following trouble shooting guide as well. Would not recommend, this unfortunately is the first Samsung product to give me problems.

It is now useless. No longer supported by Samsung and will be unable to operate come June 2021. I wasted my money.

This would not connect with ADT using cellular. After being transferred back and forth from Samsung to ADT found out that my account was showing active on my device but was inactive in their system. This of course did not solve the problem but once the account was active I was getting calls, some of which went to call waiting for alerts received by ADT. The system wasn't even armed. One rep got nasty when I said it wan't armed why did she call. STAY FAR AWAY from this. I'm thinking I can't even take it back since it is an activated device and you only have 14 days to return. I got the whole package so I'm out $700.00. Got the Nest system and it was up and running no problems in less than 2 hours.

Updated ADT SmartThings panel firmware has issue connecting to Internet through ANY home wifi router. A new panel will connect to a wifi access point but won't pass traffic to the Internet. The panel can't be registered online. Samsung techs aren't trained on the ADT panel and can't support; they simply say they're not familiar with the ADT panel and then point you to ADT. ADT won't support you if you don't have a monthly service plan with them. A very bad experience, this offering isn't integrated and simply was not yet ready to take to market.

Biggest problem: Erroneous alarms. I have ADT's monitoring service add-on for this system ($35/month) and 2 months after installing it, I got a bunch of phone calls from ADT monitoring one day. They said all of the sensors (!?!) had been tripped and wanted to dispatch police. I checked my surveillance camera and didn't see anything unusual so opted to cancel the alarm, which kept going off and calling them all day. When I got home, I saw nothing suspicious and the control panel's alarm history didn't even log any problem or alarm condition. Software is clearly defective. Doesn't even show the correct time despite being wifi connected. Seriously?! Just replaced my hub unit today with a new one SmartThings sent, and setup was just as difficult as the first time. Devices/sensors are hard to pair. You'll find yourself following the setup steps exactly, multiple times, and resetting sensors a few times before they pair successfully. Keychain remote never pairs. Samsung support is also not 7 days a week and has limited hours, so if you live in PST you will have a hard time ever getting to talk to them unless you are at home during the day and not at work. Wish I never bothered with this thing and bought a different system.

    Awful setup, poor interface

Bought this system as a deterrent for anyone looking to snoop in my firearms safe. I spent close to a hour and a half fiddling with my phone scanning QR codes for the sensors only to continuously get error codes and/or the device (motion sensor or window sensor). Other thing that irritated me was that there was no way to correct the time on the hub, despite correctly entering my location on the Smart Things app.
