Many bands release a great first album but then they disappoint with their second album. The reason seems obvious enough. They spend years writing, playing and perfecting their originals so they record all of them on their debut album. But then when they need to release the follow up, they only have a year or less to come up with the new songs and it shows. I've always thought bands should hold back a couple of their early originals for their second albums so there is some material that is already familiar to their oldest fans as well as some material they're comfortable playing. I don't know this for sure, but I'd bet Skynyrd did that with this release. It is a very solid follow up to their first album and it's a great listen from start to finish.
