This Shark Ion Robot is the easy way to keep one's house free of dust bunnies and fur balls. Super easy to get started out of the box by just snapping on the two side brushes on the bottom of the vacuum and removing some protective film from the vacuum. Simply plug the base charging unit into an outlet and allow the robot vacuum to fully charge. Then tap the center Clean button and watch as the Shark Robot works its way around your furniture, cabinets, etc. to clean the floor. When it encounters an obstacle it will adjust its direction accordingly until it finds a clear path to continue on its cleaning journey. This unit also comes with a remote control one can use to program the vacuum to run on set schedules. One nice feature on the vacuum is a Spot mode that will thoroughly clean an area in a spiral pattern if one has a concentrated area of dust or debris. In the handful of times we have used the vacuum thus far it has only gotten stuck one time. The vacuum will then quit running which I'm sure is a precaution to not burn the motor up. The unit does come with Botboundary Strips that can be installed to create "no go zones". We have not found this to be necessary for our home. There is routine maintenance to be performed on the Shark Ion Robot. It comes with a small brush to routinely brush dirt off of the dust bin and filters. The recommended replacement for the dust bin filter is every two months. I looked to see if there was a spot on the dust bin unit to snap on the cleaning tool, but that doesn't appear to be the case. That would have been a convenient design option. To summarize, I would not say that this replaces a normal household vacuum, but it is a great complement to use to minimize the typical daily fight against dust and dog fur in one's home. Look at the picture posted of the dust bin after the vacuum ran for its complete battery time of just a bit longer than one hour. It did an equally good job on tile floors, carpet and area rugs. We were pleasantly surprised at how well this Shark Robot product performed.

    Robots taking over

I've had a robot vacuum before. They would get confused and get stuck underneath couches, dining tables, and chairs. Then, it broke. So I couldn't return it. So I had my doubts when it came to robot vacuums and wanted to wait a bit. It really is surprising how far they have come since then! The programs that the vacuums have have improved tremendously! The first few times, it bumps around and tries to figure everything out. Then, the next few times it would know where the obstacles and walls were and not bump into them. It was scary and fascinating to watch. The getting stuck problem? No worries. It handles tables and chairs and couches just fine. Also, my place has those little elevated tabs on the floor between rooms but this vacuum has no problem just powering through those bumps. I have a dog that sheds CONSTANTLY. I would clean the floor every day and still have dog hair stuck to the mop. This device does it for me. It really is amazing how much dust and hair and other things it picks up. It does a very good job. My dog also has a phobia of all things electric and she's warmed up very well to the Shark Ion so that's a plus for me. It does make a beeping sound if it gets stuck on something and turn off. Some examples would be like my dog's toys, pieces of paper (which it obviously cannot suck up), electric cords, and whatnot. So you should be aware that the area that you want cleaned does need to be "prepped" for this. On that note, it also comes with strips so you cordon off areas that you don't want the vacuum to go to. It works so that's a plus! The power supply dock is really light and small. However, the area that the vacuum needs for the dock is a fairly wide area (3 feet on each side and 5 feet in front) so that is something to be aware when looking for a place for it to dock. Ideally you would want to dock it in a central part of the area that you would want cleaned. Also, the vacuum docks itself...I was actually mind blown that it did this. The battery runs for about an hour on a full charge and takes about 3 hours for a full recharge. I will say that if the area that you want cleaned is large, then an hour will not be enough. You might need/want multiple cycles. It is nice to have these robot vacuums given how busy we can get. However, I am of the opinion that these cannot and should not replace a good manual cleaning. There are things that the vacuum cannot clean and it also does have areas that it seems to miss. As a supplemental tool for cleaning? It does the trick and more.

    Set it and Forget It

I decided to really challenge my new buddy. I took him to work to clean my classroom for me. I had a lot of fun, watching him roll around, navigating around 34 desks and chairs, wiggle around in nooks and crannies, pick up scraps of paper and pencil shavings, and figure out, little by little, starting with big, broad turns... then transitioning into tiny little ones, how bit the room was and how it was set up. I have it running for about half an hour a day, every day... but that's really kind of the wonderful point of a tool like this. It's a maintenance thing. Schedule it to run every day or so, and things stay pretty clean... reduces how often you need to go over the floor with the big vacuum for a deep clean. I was pretty impressed how well the little guy picked up even the smallest little scraps. Granted, I mostly use this on hard surfaces and low-pile rugs. It was a good fit for the small dustbin. If you're really and truly using this for maintenance and not for once-a-week deep cleaning, this is no problem--just remember to empty the dustbin every time, or it will fill up and be an issue. The dustbin is VERY easy to empty, even when the bot is docked for charging. The bot comes with an extra set up side brushes, which was really handy. Hang onto those, especially if you have pet hair that might get tangled up. You can also use the included tape to mark off areas you don't want the bot to go. I wish there was another method... putting the tape on the floor is a little unsightly and doesn't really work on carpet. Overall, I was most impressed by the robots ability to navigate, even in small places, especially where I can't get in with the big vacuum.

This was our first robot vacuum. The kids and I are quite entertained with this little bugger running around. The Shark ION was a very easy setup from out of the box. The instructions were printed on a huge cardboard cover so it isn’t hard to miss. They were very easy to follow and not too many steps as well. The vacuum is stationed within the living room and it transverses all around the first floor. It has to go within the hallway to get to the dining room and down another hallway to get to the kitchen. The flooring is carpet in the living room, hardwood in the hallway, hardwood/carpet in the dining room and tiling in the kitchen. The transition to each flooring is about a ¼ inch difference and it does not affect this vacuum. It still baffles me how it keeps track where the charging base is and knows which hallway to go down and which doorway to enter for the living room…. Which is awesome. The cleaning is a sporadic pattern but at the end, it gets the job done. The noise level is at a minimal and I still have to say, for the first robot vacuum, we are quite satisfied and it is quite entertaining to watch.

    Shark Attacks... Robots Invade

The Shark - ION ROBOT 720 Vacuum with optional scheduled cleaning is one of the newest iterations of robotic vacuums to hit the market. The Shark brand scores well with this model and the carefree robot seems efficient in its efforts to clean dust, dirt, and animal fur around the home. This was my first experience with a robotic vacuum so I can honestly state I wasn't sure what to expect overall. Setup was easy and the instructions were clear and concise. Within a few hours of the initial charge docking, it was off and rolling. After bumping into everything initially, it began to settle down and track the walls and around furniture with ease. I set it to run at night on my hardwood floors and tile kitchen (approximately 1000 sq ft). I awoke in the morning to find it had become stuck in the middle of our high pile throw rug (I hadn't placed the no-go strip around it yet). I reset it before leaving for work and came home to find it had cleaned the floors and had returned to its charging dock on its own. The floors were reasonably clear of particles except under the edges of the counters of the kitchen since the robot did not get close enough to reach underneath. The dust collection container was packed full of dust, particles, and pet hair. PROS - Easy initial set up - Strong battery life with over an hour of runtime - Efficient cleaning after initial chaotic movements - Click and go cleaning allows for the robot to do its job without the need of your presence - Collector bin holds a reasonable amount and is easy to remove and empty - Good sensors, won't damage furniture or fall down stairs - Very effective on hard surfaces CONS - I would not consider this to be a traditional vacuum replacement! - Unsure of the true cleaning capabilities on carpets (deep cleaning/suction?) - Not effective on high pile carpet or throw rugs - This model does not offer WiFi/Smartphone connectivity which would seem a standard feature today but does come with an upgraded model. - Does not offer a mopping feature. If you are looking for a robot vacuum, I believe Shark has done well with this model and design. Give it a shot as you will likely be pleased with the result.

This is my first time having one of this robot vacuum and I love it. This Shark ion robot it’s easy to use, first charge it for at least 3 hours and use to remote control to start your robot vacuum do the job for you. The smart sensor navigation helps the vacuum detect any obstacles , easy buttons on top of the vacuum or just use your remote. The remote control help you schedule a time that you want the robot to clean your floors or just use it to command the robot to clean your floors; the spot cleaning feature help you clean a concentrated area. So far this robot vacuum save me time vacuuming my house while I can do some other chores around the house, with this robot vacuum you don’t need those heavy basic vacuums. So far it’s a great vacuum , I recommended you move any loose items off your floors ,like cables or anything that could get stuck on your robot vacuum.

This little robot works great. You can schedule it with the included remote to automatically clean while you are away. Run time is about 60 minutes and in that time it is able to clean my 1200 sq ft area that is downstairs. Object avoidance is pretty good and it hasn't gotten stuck under any of my furniture or tables. I do have a lot of toys in my living room from my toddler and it cleans around those very nicely. I have used the included boundary strips (is just a magnetic strip that you can cut in 18" lengths) and they work very well. I used it around my dog bowls and any low hanging drapes or area rugs that are flimsy. Emptying and cleaning the dust bin is simple and easy. They recommend you shake out the HEPA filter once a month, but I do it just about every day. It seems like it would really get clogged up if I waited a full month. The dust bin has been about halfway full each time I have emptied it and I have even vacuumed with my full size vacuum in the week that the little Shark ION has been working. I imagine at some point it might not pick up the same amount of dust and debris with daily cleanings, but so far it hasn't reached that point. The cleaning path is pretty random, but it seems to be getting just about every area in the 60 or so minutes that it runs. I have woken up every morning to find it back on its charging base ready to go for the next scheduled cleaning. The included side brushes that spin seem to help it pull in dirt and I see the brushes getting a bit frayed even after a week. I am not sure how long they will last but they are easily replaceable. The noise level is pretty low too. I am able to watch tv easily with this running and it is hardly noticeable. I think this is a great little cleaning robot for the money. It cleans well and just works, you won't be disappointed.

The Shark ION ROBOT 720 does a great job cleaning hard wood, tile, and low carpet floors. Once you sort out any issues the robot has navigating your home, you can set up a schedule and come home to cleaner floors. The schedule feature works great, though I did come home to find it stuck on one of my rugs (high pile). Fortunately Shark provides a boundary strip that can be cut to length, preventing the robot from entering certain areas of your home…..or in my case a rug. In addition to the boundary strip Shark provides a cleaning tool, dock, remote, spare sides brushes, and a replacement HEPA filter, a nice touch. I found the Shark ION ROBOT to be far quieter than my 2-year old premium brand robot vac, a welcome surprise. The large capacity dust bin even hinges open allowing it to be cleaned easily. My only issues with the Shark are it tends to run into dark colored furniture at full speed (same issue with my premium brand robot vac) and it doesn’t fully approach a light colored obstacle or baseboard. Despite it’s tendency to turn around before reaching a wall, I still found it cleans the floors very well. I don’t think this can replace a traditional vacuum due to its poor edging of baseboards but it is still an excellent choice if you are looking to supplement your current cleaning tools.

This little shark robot vac, is easy to setup and use. Works well at cleaning my hardwood floors, when the kids make lite mess or small spills. The 720 seems to navigate around the house well, without marking up my large white baseboards. The scheduled cleaning remote is nice, would prefer a app as the remote may easily get lost or misplaced. I find this to be good at light jobs, as a mop is still needed for dusting the floors or larger messes.

Very impressed with this robot vacuum! It does great traversing all kinds of furniture and obstacles and cleans spots we probably don’t normally get because it goes under all the chairs. We have a cat and a dog and it does a great job getting up their hair. I couldn't believe how much it got up in just one pass (see the picture). We use it on our main floor which is our living room, dining room, and kitchen. It's all hardwoods and a 10x12 area rug in the living room. It has no problems at all cleaning both without us lifting a finger. Scheduling to run on certain times and days of the week with the included remote was quick and easy. And when it's done it puts itself back to bed in its charger.

the Shark Robot does a surprisingly good job on cleaning up. It works equally well cleaning carpets as it does bare floors. I had heard about these robot vacuums for awhile, but they never really interested me much, however I am now a fan. The unit comes with a remote, a charging dock and extra filters, brushes and a roll of tape that you can use to mark "territory" where the vacuum should not go.. It has the ability to run on a schedule and automatically go through a cleaning cycle, as the battery gets low it will automatically dock with the charging station and recharge. Pros: - does a good job cleaning - scheduling function - remote - charging station Cons: - can't think of any thus far

I have tried this robot vacuum for 2 days so I can judge its ability. It performed pretty well and sucked crumbles smoothly. The good think I can control it using remote control to schedule a cleaning days and times and also order it to return to its charging dock, in addition to have the choice of spot cleaning in which can clean the area I assign. very quiet compared with others in this range.

Running a small architectural firm, we are open 12-18 hours per day. What does that mean? It means people are constantly going in and out from jobsites and they are eating at all hours...and we allow pets. The Shark ION Robot, the one "pet" in the office that cleans instead of leaving tracks does a good job of tackling the aforementioned challenges. It's a charming little mechanical "pet' that hums (pretty quietly) around the office, popping in to check on your and then goes on its way. It comes with a cool remote that allows you to schedule cleaning times and also call the Robot ION back to its charging base. We ran into one small problem that was easily rectified. (The manual gives you a heads-up about similar issues). We still produce paper drawings, and when left on the floor, our pet tries to chew them up! So with a little discipline, and the use of the provided BotBoundry Strips, we stopped that problem. When filled, it's easy to clean the dust bin. We like our mechanical friend !

A worthy robot vac for the price

I've been using robot vacuums for nearly 10 years and have had models from most major brands. This Shark Ion Robot vacuum may not equal the "big boys" of robo-vacs for suction or smarts, but it really hits a sweet spot between features, functions and price. This model came with an infrared remote control that can be used to start/stop an auto-clean cycle, do a spot clean, command it to return to the dock (nice!) and schedule regular cleaning. The dock is reliably found and easily charges the bot for the next clean. We have a dog that sheds a bit, so we try to vacuum a few times a week to keep things free of dog hair. So far, I've had it to do our master bedroom and bathroom a few times completely unattended. It reliably cleaned both rooms and returned to the dock afterwards. The remote control is used to schedule when you'd like it to automatically undock and clean. All programming is done on the remote itself and then transmitted to and stored in the robot. I like being able to program the remote while seated elsewhere versus having to do it on the actual robot. However, the text on the display is rather small and difficult to read. It worked well, but a clearer display would be nice. The robot did clean quite well; judging from the dirt in the bin afterwards. The brush roller and vac opening are on the smaller side for a robot vac, but the twin spinning brushes seem to guide the dirt toward the opening well enough. The navigation is mostly random and set patterns with a bit of sensor and bump logic to keep it going. Not quite as fancy as the (much more expensive) models that have laser or optical guidance systems but it seems to have gotten everything clean, so no problem there. You get on-board scheduling with an infrared remote control, a dock to charge it, barrier strips to keep it out of areas that don't need vacuuming, and a good warranty. Overall, a nice robo-vac for the money!

Entry level robo vacuum at best

The first thing I noticed about this robotic vacuum was its noisiness - or lack thereof to be specific. After owning a Roomba 520 for years, I couldn't believe how quiet this one was. There had to be a reason for it. Sure enough, it just isn't powerful. The brushes on the bottom (see picture) are not beefy at all. I would NOT recommend this robotic vacuum for a pet owner. Additionally, it doesn't move fast at all. It uses the same "random bounce" pattern Roomba vacuums use as well. So, couple this with being slow and you can imagine that it doesn't hit everywhere you want it to in the amount of time it has before its battery dies. The floor we have this on in our home is hardwood and that's where I think this vacuum would perform best.. Any carpet, rugs, etc and you won't get the performance you desire out of it. It even fails to pick up some crumbs on our wood floors if they're even mildly stuck to the floor (the Roomba would get this up no problem). Another point of pain - you MUST use the remote to schedule it. This is reminiscent of the very first era of Roombas. Lose the remote and sorry Charlie, hope you like your schedule. You can watch a video of the Shark in action in my house here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmuBKM4_QEQw44hl2_bX5BfZb20Peg

Shark’s Ion vacuum is a trendy and beautiful design. I will say I have had robot vacs of other brands and they are loud and somewhat invading. I have three dogs and they shed quite a bit so having a robot on hand is helpful for constant upkeep of the floors. All three of my dogs napped while the Shark Ion hummed it’s way around the first floor of the house. That was awesome to watch and to know they weren’t afraid of it. I have to say, it’s methodology of getting the job done is sporadic and there doens’t seem to be a algorithm to cleaning the floor but it is getting it done. My favorite part is that it is slim enough to get under the COUCH! I hate dust bunnies but I refuse and admit i’m am too lazy to get under there myself. So in 40 minutes my first floor living room, kitchen, and entry way were cleaned. I don’t really use the barriers that come with the robot because they aren’t attractive on the floor so there is that. To each his own. The best feature is the scheduler to which you can use so that your floors are tidy when you get home from work which gives me such pleasure. I used it and our large area rug is so nice and clean when i’m home. The down fall is that if you have pets make sure to put their small toys away otherwise you risk causing an obstruction to your vacuum and it not finishing the task! I love this vacuum and the battery lasted the entire cleaning cycle. Previous ones had to recharge to then finish just one floor! I’m a very happy owner.

Amazingly, this little wonder journeys out on its own, happily sweeping the dust and crumbs we drop to the floor. Like another household pet, it wanders almost eerily about sweeping and dusting, only needing to return to its home base (station) for a recharge. The remote control is slick. You hold it in your hand and set the date and time, add a cleaning schedule and send the little bugger on its way. The base station has a molded cup to hold it when not needed or so it won't get lost. Again I was surprised how well it can handle carpets, rugs and other obstacles. It comes with a magnetic barrier zone (3/16" thick) you place across doorways you prefer it not travel into. Great feature. If it gets into trouble, it patiently waits your assistance only beeping to remind you where it is. ( I have a hard time remembering its not ALIVE). Since it does a great job vacuuming, you may consider checking and emptying its dirt cup at least twice weekly. Also it comes with a full extra set of side brushes and another dirt cup filter.

Welcome to the world of Robots! Vacuuming has never been easier. The Shark Ion Robot 720 Vacuum is amazing! To be quite honest, I felt like I could have provided a review for this vacuum within the first 30 minutes of opening the box and using it, but I knew I needed to spend more time with it and to utilize all of the features as well as watch it in action before I shared my experience. Now that I have done that over the past week, I can honestly say that this Shark Ion Robot Vacuum is AMAZING! I am so excited with the technology; the practicality and usefulness of this product that I wish you could see my smile and excitement through the words I utilize to write this review. I’ll do my best to convey those feelings as I go through the various steps I took once I received my robot vacuum. I was somewhat surprised at the size of the box. I assumed that the box would be a little smaller; however, once I opened it I realized that it was well packaged and come with the necessary attachments needed to ensure my house was thoroughly cleaned. Right on top of everything, when you first open the box, you see an easy to view and follow Easy Starter Instructions illustration sheet (it’s actually displayed on what looks like a 12” by 20” piece of thin cardboard), which makes getting started simple and fast. You’re able to lay the cardboard flat on up against the wall and follow along. This is how easy instructions should be provided for all products. Large cardboard with large colorful print that’s easy to read and comprehend accompanied by well-illustrated photos showing you where everything is on the device and where they should go in your house. Everything within the box had its’ own specially designed/fitted place and was secure. It was easy to find all of the pieces to the product which made the final assembly that much more easy. They provide extra side brushes and an extra filter so you will be able to get a lot of use out of your Robot before needing to purchase replacement parts/accessories. After only a few minutes, the vacuum was completely assembled. The Shark Ion Robot Vacuum needs to be fully charged when it first comes out of the box and takes approximately three hours to charge and the usage charge lasts about an hour when running steadily. While the Robot was charging, I prepped my house by moving all the cords and cables that could easily get stuck in the vacuum. The Shark Ion Robot 720 comes with a programmable remote that allows you to set any day and time of the week to allow your Robot to clean your home while your away. It actually turns itself on, vacuums your home and returns to the charger when it’s done (how kool is that?). The remote comes with two batteries. However, I think it would have been better to have a rechargeable battery in the remote for recharging convenience. It also would have been nice if they included a mountable stand to place the remote in (why not, they’ve already spoiled me with the programmable vacuum). Nevertheless, I programmed the remote and sent it to the Robot and heard a beep letting me know the program was received. It would be nice if they included a way to confirm schedule is in place from the Robot. You are able to review the program on the remote, however, the first time I programmed a schedule, the robot did not clean on that day. Therefore, I used the manual mode for the first full run. I didn’t watch the Robot for the entire run cycle and went upstairs. When I come downstairs after a couple hours, it appears at least two rooms were not vacuumed. It would be nice if there were a way to see which areas were cleaned. It should be possible since the robot maps out the cleaning area as it bounces around the house. It would also be a good idea to be able to set the vacuum schedule online or via an app as well as a select all feature on the schedule and a way to select the days you want (i.e. run on certain days at a certain time selection). I wanted the same time every day but had to enter each one separately and after the third program the task quickly became very tedious. As I mentioned earlier, I run the vacuum utilizing the manual mode the first time because of a few programming issues. However, once the vacuum started, I stood there in amazement as this little “thing” just moved and bounced around my house. I have furniture in odd places around the house and this Robot quickly moved around just about every inch of the house bouncing back and forth ensuring that it reached/covered all the open sections I wanted vacuumed. It went under the dinning table, around and through the legs of each chair, under the coffee table and right up against the coach and love seat like a pro. It cleans all floor surfaces pretty goods and covers the floor well. It cleaned the tile, carpet, rugs and hardwood floors with ease. I couldn’t believe how good my carpet looked. I’m weird in that I like to see the lines left behind after the carpet has been cleaned and this little robot cleaned the entire carpet evident by lines in the carpet everywhere. The instructions recommend to clean after every use and I didn’t think that was necessary but I was wrong. This Robot picks up dirt things you can’t see. The bin was almost full after one run. It cleaned so well I’m thinking I may only need to have it programmed for twice a week instead of four. It would save the battery life and filters. It was very easy cleaning the trash bin/tray and filter. Actually everything on this robot is easy to use and very simple. So easy that I continued to double-check that I did things correctly. This little “Worker Bee” is spoiling me. It’s like having a well-trained pet.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Shark Ion. Works VERY well on carpets. Downloaded the app, and it makes it super easy to clean / schedule when to have it run.

What’s In the Box: The Shark ION Robot vacuum comes with charging dock, BotBoundry Strip, Scheduling Remote, Cleaning Tool, 2 extra side brushes, 1 extra HEPA filter, instructions, and manual. Assembly: The vacuum was easy to assemble. Just attach the 2 side brushes, plug the charging dock into a wall plug, and place the vacuum on the charging dock. Charging: The vacuum charges up on the charging dock, or you can plug the cord directly into the vacuum. To use the charging dock, you can place the vacuum on the dock, or you can press the “Dock” button on top of the vacuum and the vacuum will travel to the dock and park itself on the dock. Start Vacuuming: Once charged, press the CLEAN button on the vacuum. Alternately, you can use the remote that comes with the vacuum to clean it now or schedule a cleaning for later. You can schedule multiple cleanings with the remote. Ease of Use: We had several potential areas that we weren’t sure if the vacuum could handle them. (1) A couple of thick extension cords across a small section of the floor: The vacuum traveled over these thick cords without any problems, but I would be worried about letting it loose over these cords if I wasn’t home. While I am at home, I will leave them there, but if I leave the house, I’ll either turn off the vacuum, or lift up the cords so they don’t touch the floor, or put up a barrier so the vacuum won’t go in the area, (2) Different floor types: The vacuum was able to travel from hard floor to carpet, to throw rugs over the carpet without any difficulty. We have a much thicker transition bar leading from a hallway to our laundry room. The vacuum managed to get in that room the first time, but could not come back out. The next time, it didn’t make it in there at all. To solve this, I closed the door to the laundry room while running the vacuum. (3) Getting stuck under furniture: Our sofa is low enough in the front, but in the back, it is just barely high enough so that the vacuum gets stuck under the edge. We placed the BotBoundry strip along the back of the sofa and that took care of it. We could have put the sofa on ½ inch to 1 inch risers, but we didn’t need the BotBoundry strip anywhere else, so that worked great. (4) Drapes that are within an inch of touching the floor: The first time I tried the vacuum, I folded each side of the drapes over each other to hold them up off the ground. The next time, I left them down and just kept an eye on them when the vacuum was near. The vacuum didn’t have any problem around them and the drapes were not harmed in any way. I didn’t have any other areas of potential problem downstairs. Upstairs, I didn’t have any barrier problems and the vacuum won’t accidentally go down the stairs. I did notice in the bedrooms, that the vacuum went under the beds, so if you keep things under your beds, you may have to keep it out of those rooms. My suggestion would be to run it while you are able to keep an eye on things the first time and figure out if there are any hindrances; then fix those and see how it works. Quiet: I was amazed at how quiet it was. I was watching a movie while it was running and it didn’t bother me at all. I could hear the movie just fine. Maneuverability: It managed to go in-between the legs of the dining room chairs and vacuum under the dining table. It also managed to go under my breakfast room table which has always been difficult for me to clean under because it has a “shelf” under the table that is just a few inches off the floor. Also, as I mentioned above, it had no difficulty transitioning between different floor types. Thoroughness: The vacuum moves in a random pattern but eventually gets the entire floor vacuumed. I could tell that it was doing a good job because most of the floor had vacuum patterns on it before it went to dock itself. I also noticed that it always came to about 3 inches from each wall and turned to change directions. At first, I thought this was going to be a negative factor, but I soon realized that this feature was good. It keeps the vacuum from bumping into things and makes it easier to turn. Since I had recently vacuumed, I was surprised how much dust was in the dust bin. I think the dust accumulates under the furniture where I don’t usually vacuum and it since it vacuumed there, it filled the dustbin on its first trial run. Boundaries: It has a feature that keeps it from going down stairs or off ledges. In other words, it avoids “cliffs”. This would be a great feature for use upstairs. The BotBoundry Strip is very useful. I found that I only needed it in one place, so I had plenty of length of the strip. It stretched along the back of my sofa with more length to spare, but if you need it several places, you may want to consider purchasing more. It is not something that you need to install permanently. Just set it in place when your vacuum is scheduled to work and roll it up when you aren’t using it. Cleaning the Vacuum: The dust bin is easily accessible and quick to empty. Even though the vacuum comes with anti-tangling technology, there is a tool for cleaning which includes a hook to pull out long fibers, hair, or threads in case it happens. I didn’t need to use it. Also, the filters can be rinsed and replaced once they dry. Contols: The top of the vacuum has 3 buttons: Clean, Dock, and Spot. Using the Clean button starts the vacuum. Pressing it again will stop it. Pressing the Dock button will send the vacuum back to its dock. Press the Spot button for a more thorough cleaning of a concentrated area. If a blockage occurs, the “!” error indicator light comes on. Clear the blockage and/or clean the filters and empty the dust bin to make sure nothing is blocking the suction. There is also a Schedule Indicator on the top which tells you if there is a cleaning time scheduled. Lastly, there are battery charge indicator lights so you can see the amount of charge remaining in the battery. Summary: Even though there were a few hiccups due to the way my house is set up, they were easy to overcome and well worth it to do so. Having a vacuum travel around the house on its own for a few hours once every week without having to lift a finger (except to empty the dustbin) has been a great time and labor saver. Also, I was surprised at how quiet it is and how much dirt it removed from my carpet. I would highly recommend the Shark ION Robot Vacuum Cleaner.
