    Fantastic state-of-the-art vacuum and mop

The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro 2-in-1 vacuum and mop is a technological tour-de-force, with advanced features that make it easy to use and live with. Starting with setup, there are just a few basic steps. First, find a location for the base along a wall. You’ll notice that the PowerDetect base has a small ramp that the robot climbs when it returns home. This will allow it to sit in place without any danger of water dripping on your floors. It also has three tanks, one for vacuumed debris, a water / cleaning fluid storage tank, and a dirty (grey) water tank. Attach the small side brush on the robot and place the unit in the base. While the robot is charging, install the odor neutralizer cartridge on the vacuum tank and fill the clean water tank with a mixture of tap water and cleaning solution. Once the robot is charged, it will use the app to map out your home. The PowerDetect will follow the contours of your rooms and create a remarkably accurate map of your floor plan. It moves quite quickly during this step, and mapped out the 1,000 SF floor I where I use it in minutes. On the app you can then do things like sub-divide rooms (if, for example, you want to vacuum the carpeted areas more frequently than the hardwoods). The app will also allow you to decide if you want to vacuum, mop, or both, select which rooms you want to clean, and allows you to send the robot to specific spot for cleaning (in case the dogs make a mess, because it’s never the humans’ fault when there are dogs around). The PowerDetect runs in two distinct cycles, vacuum and mop, so let’s consider each of them separately. When in vacuum mode, the robot drops the mop pad onto the base so as not to drip water while vacuuming. This also allows the pad to dry out between uses. The robot runs at a preset vacuum power level, but has a sensor in it to identify heavily soiled spots. When detected, the robot will increase the suction and focus on that spot until it’s clean. Cleaning along walls and in corners is a challenge for my four other robot vacuums (don’t judge, it’s a large house). The PowerDetect runs along the walls rather than bouncing off of them, and it shoots blasts of air in front of it to force things away from walls and corners, moving dirt, hair, etc., into the vacuum’s path. We have two very large dogs who, like many of us, took up a COVID hobby. Unfortunately, the hobby they chose was shedding, and getting their hair up from along walls and out of corners had challenged our other robots. With this forced air feature, the PowerDetect is able to keep edges and corners clear of dog hair. One of the more interesting features this robot has is a lift capability. When it detects an obstacle like a rug, it has the ability to lift part of the robot several inches, ensuring that it does not get stuck. In my house this feature was very effective. Once vacuuming is complete, the robot returns to its base and empties the vacuum bin into the tank on the base. The PowerDetect is now ready to mop. It picks up the mop pad and fills its cleaning bin from the clean water tank. The robot does not attempt to clean carpeted areas and rugs, and heads straight for hard surfaces. When over hard surfaces, the robot sprays just enough water to get the job done, scrubs with the brush, and sucks up the dirty water. I’ve never had a wet spot left behind. While running over rugs or carpets, the robot uses the lifting feature to ensure that the mop pad does not come into contact with anything it shouldn't. In corners, it shifts the mop pad to the edge of the robot to ensure complete cleaning. Once the mop cycle is complete, the robot returns to the base and empties the dirty water into the grey water tank. While Shark gives some long time frames that you can expect between emptying the tanks, in real life you’ll want to empty the grey water tank after every use. While the tank can store multiple mopping cycles of dirty water, it starts to smell pretty quickly. If you, too, have very large dogs with a similar COVID hobby, you’ll also be emptying the vacuum tank every week or so. But, these are simple tasks, and your mileage will vary. Robot vacuums and mops have come a very long way since they were first introduced. The PowerDetect 2-in-1 reflects the current state of the art, and the progress has been remarkable.

This was the worst product that I’ve ever purchased. Customer service was unable to help me get the product running. I was told I would have to work with the engineers with a bata app and at the end of 90 days it would go public and at that time I would have to purchase the app to make my machine run. It took customer service two weeks to return my phone call. I returned the product before my time ran out to get a full refund. I do not recommend this for anyone and all items should be returned to the manufacturer.

When we used it first time mapping all rooms on a floor it was a great experience but then came the worst part. It’s not mentioned anywhere that there is a limit of only one floor mapping. We are unable to add another floor now. Buying such an expensive vacuum if you limit having only one map and not mention anywhere in the features is misleading your buyers. I am thinking of returning this unless customer support calls me back to help us out to resolve this. For now, I shall give a poor rating. Waiting to see if someone reaches me back from support to address my need.

I’ve had so many issues with this vacuum. Literally a waste of money. Had to replace my first one within 2 weeks because it wouldn’t charge. My second one is now not working after less than a month of having it. I only got a replacement because I purchased geek squad & Best Buy doesn’t accept returns after 2 weeks. They had me at NeverTouch! I thought we’d hit the jackpot with self-emptying robovacs, but this new self-emptying, self-cleaning, self-refilling vac takes the welcome concepts of “autopilot,” “maintenance-free,” & “hands-off” to a whole new level. We’re using this robovac at our rental house with tenants who have 2 medium-sized short-haired dogs. It’s replacing our prior Shark AI Robot Vac AV2001 which expired after only 27 months on station. I’d no idea just how much those 2 dogs shed on a daily basis. I’m hopeful that this upgraded model can handle the challenge. After a full week of initial use, my expectation is that this new unit will have a longer life. Like all Shark products we’ve used, setup is very simple & straightforward with a paint-by-number setup guide that includes pictures. After removing the plastic wrapping & stickers, the only assembly required is to snap on the side brush, attach the ramp to the base, fill the water tank, & insert the odor neutralizer. Downloading the SharkClean App is a must. Total time took under 15 minutes. SharkClean App: We were already comfortable using the App from our experience with the previous Shark vac. After pairing with the new model, which was quick & easy, it first ran a test to explore & map the house. Then we made a few custom edits, including labeling all the rooms & setting up a couple of “no-go” & “high-traffic” zones. The unit is also compatible with Amazon’s Alexa & Google Assistant. Cleaning: I was a little skeptical when I noticed that this model includes only one side brush (our old Shark robovac had 2) but, surprisingly, this unit actually did a better job cleaning, especially in the corners. 90% of the house’s flooring has dark faux wood. With the tenants’ pets shedding white dog hair, it’s very easy to see whether the Shark is getting the job done or not. This Pro unit clearly vacuums better & more thoroughly than the previous unit. One of the most noticeable improvements is the PowerDetect feature. The unit’s sensors detect when it rolls over a high-debris area--automatically boosting suction power just for that spot, & then returning to normal power. The Pro also provides more effective cleaning along the edges of the baseboards. As it drives along the edge, dog hair is blown & brushed away from the edge & then suctioned up. Another noticeable improvement in the new vs. old unit: after running the Pro several times during the first week, it never got stuck anywhere. The old unit would occasionally get stuck on the feet of bookcases or workout equipment, which annoyingly required us to pick up the robovac & re-position it. But this Pro version rolled along & never needed to be touched or helped. The mop function also impressed as it scrubbed effectively, covering edges & even hard-to-reach corners, but without leaving too much water on the floor. Self-Empty/Refill: Now, for the best part. No cleanup! Once the vacuuming is completed, the unit evacuates its contents into the base. And it’s much quieter than our other high-end brand which sounds like a rocket launch. The sound of this Pro is more like a low roar, & it doesn’t terrify the dogs. It also automatically refills the mop tank as needed. Overall, we’re super impressed with this Shark NeverTouch 2-in-1. We just hope it offers better durability with a longer life cycle than our last Shark robovac.

Vacuum/Mop Combo with game changing technology

I have evaluated a few different Robot vacuums including the direct competitors of this device which started the robot vacuum revolution and established this technology for the masses. Shark makes easy to use seamless devices that are both cost friendly and duplicate most of the technologies found in the pricey competition. This item came in a larger than most other robot vacuum cartons and similar to Apple devices, was packed nicely and allow the emptying of the package easily so you are able to start using the product immediately., What I immediately liked about this device was the quick start and ease of use when it comes to downloading the partner app. In deciding where to place the base of this item, I scratched my head since the footprint of the base is a bit larger than most due to the featured water tank for the mop water and solution. I decided to place in my laundry room and sync this to the app easily and started mapping out my floor. My home contains mostly natural dark wood floors and I own two large hairy dogs and I am constantly vacuuming. With these robot vacs I can set it and forget it which is the biggest sell with these devices. Immediately this device went to work and not only was it quiet, it moved seamlessly through my house, a few hiccups with the mapping feature not mapping correctly, the app seems basic and easy to use, looks like this will improve over time. The suction on this vacuum seems adequate for my low pile carpets and really moved into the corners nicely, the hair my dogs shed did clog up the front roller a few times and I had to send this back to the base to empty and unclog. The mop feature was a bonus and this device was smart enough to lower the mop pad on the wood floors and not the area rugs which I have seen with other robot mop vacs. This device even was smart enough to empty and self clean the mop pads and refill at the same time which is something I have never seen before in any device which is a serious game changer for smart home cleaning. In the end this device did a good job mapping the floor, vaccuming and mopping the entire first floor of my home and made my floors shine. The included cleaning solution was great as well. I would highly recommend this vacuum/mop robot to anyone looking for a cost effective combo to clean and shine their floors in any size home.

Shark Power Detect Robot Vacuum - Easy to Set Up

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had my share of vacuums over the years - inlcuding many robot vacuums over the past few years. My new favorite is the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and mop with the never touch base. These vacuums are getting smarter and need us less to help keep our homes clean. This robot vacuum has defitnitly helped me keep my home cleaner. I named him Golden Sweeper because I have two Golden Retrievers that shed like crazy. It was very easy to set up the vacuum right out of the box. I just pulled the fully assembled vaccuum out and slid on the docking station, plugged it in, put a side brush onto the bottom of the vaccuum, and filled the tank with water. There is an application that you can control the vaccum as well as voice control. It did a mapping of the house the first time I went through th app. It then allows you to name each room and block off areas you don't want the vacuum to go. This is great and so much easier than having extra pieces that you have to have around the house like some other vacuums. It says that the vacuum will give you up to one month of hands free cleaning and maintenance. I have been using this for two weeks and have not had to empty anything yet - which is amazing considering the amount of dog hair in my home. It automatically empties debris into the bin and automatically refills it's own water tank for up to 30 days. It has 5 powerdetect cleaning technologies to target dirt and stains and getting into the hardest to reach spots. It has never stuck technology and lifts itself over obsticles and scross thresholds. When mopping, it keeps the pads above carpet to prevent water from getting on the carpeting. It says that the nevertouch captures and traps 99.7% of pet allergens and dust. I am hoping to see a difference in the family allergies. This has made our daily cleaning so much easier. I love not having to empty the dust bin so much and the mopping ability is awesome. It has great suction and has been a great addition to my home. I would definitly recommend.

New Shark Robot Vacuum and Mop

This vacuum/mop has all the features of its competition. However, I did find the mapping function of the Shark to be superior. It mapped out with no problems and allowed for adjustment within the application easily. Once you get your map set you can clean just the area’s you want via the application. There is also a feature to set up areas you don’t want the machine to enter. The machine also self-adjusts as it transitions from one surface type to another. The mop is left at the base station when not needed, it also self-cleans after mopping. The base station stores the water and dirt allowing more time between emptying and refilling. The dirty water bin requires more hands-on contact than the clean water and dust bins. So far, the Shark robot has lived up to less hands on. I have a medium-haired dog and with the competition I had to untangle the hair from the brush, I do not have this problem with the Shark. The Shark also is way quieter than my other Vacuums and mops. The exhaust air from the base station if filtered through an air purifier.

Speaking from the perspective of a very busy person, you would be a fool not to own a robot vacuum. And if you are going to purchase a robot vacuum, you want one that will both vacuum and mop. And if you get a dual-cleaning robot vacuum, get one that self-empties and self-refills. In order words, get the most out of your robot vacuum by having it to take on more of your workload. I have always been a big fan of Ninja/Shark products. I own many of them already and I have always been happy with the quality of the brand. I will admit, however, I was completely overwhelmed by the number of robotic vacuums Shark sells and the different features each one offers. After hours of research, I narrowed my choices down to the PowerDetect NeverTouch models as these are the newest releases and offer the most features I want in a unit. The only difference I could see between this model, the RV2820YE, and the RV2820ZE model is the latter has a Pro base, and the self-cleaning pad both washes and dries after every clean whereas the former only dries the pad. The automatic emptying into a 60-day-capacity bin and the refilling of the water tank for 30-days means large jobs will get finished even if you are not there. My first robotic vac would run out of cleaning fluid due to the size of floors that needed mopping. I ended up having to schedule smaller jobs every day. That meant the floors constantly needed to be clear, the chairs had to be put up, and I had to remember to add cleaning fluid. Not anymore! The majority of my floors are hardwood, but I have multiple throw rugs and some steep thresholds that would paralyze my first robotic vac, as it was simply unable to get unstuck. With the NeverStuck Technology, the Shark robot vac is able to get up and over these obstacles and continue the job. The EdgeDetect blast of air helps clean corners a little better, mostly dust bunnies and pet fur. I don’t have a full-time pet, but the odor neutralizer will help when I cook fish, lol. The StainDetect and DirtDetect options mean you work less while the vac works harder to vacuum and mop away the dirt. Think how handy that will be with muddy footprints and messy cooks in the kitchen. Here are some things you might want to know: • In the box, you get a large card with simple step-by-step instructions for setting up the robot and a qr code for downloading the SharkClean app. • There is a dedicated support team you can call for assistance, whether that be during the set up or any time after. I encourage you to watch the video to walk you through setup and download the SharkClean app. • It will take about 3-4 hours to charge up initially. Then do an “explore run” for an initial mapping of the rooms. At that time, it will do a dry clean(vacuum). The Shark robot will identify the carpeted vs hardwood floor areas. You can section off and label the rooms. • On the topic of mapping, I suggest mapping once a month, so the Shark robot vac avoids objects that you permanently add to rooms. • With the app, you can personalize your cleaning. You can group specific rooms, create quick favorites, and set your cleaning preferences. You can set personalized schedules by room and even clean small areas within rooms called spot cleaning. • It has voice command and is compatible with Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa. • The maintenance overview in the downloadable owner’s guide mentions the frequency for replacing parts and performing maintenance (cleaning) to get the most out of your product. You can clean the mop head in the washing machine or replace it. • The multi-surface cleaner is available for purchase at multiple department store chains. Since I unboxed my Shark robotic vac, I have been able to spend less time on my usual cleaning routine and use the minutes for more enjoyable tasks, such as being with my granddaughter. As she is new to walking, I appreciate the peace of mind knowing the floors are clean when she arrives.

Robot vacuums are a great idea but up til now have fell short. No matter the brand I've tried, they don't seem to help enough. They always miss spots, gut stuck, or fall down the stairs! Anyone who has pets will understand how stressful it can be with how much you need to vacuum. Adding a robot would help immensely in that task. This newest version of the Shark vac seems to have hit the mark! Setting up "Meryl Sweep" was very simple. Once you've downloaded the app, just follow through step by step. The first cleaning run is supposed to map your house but it took mine 3 cleans before it announced it was going to do that. Once complete, the map looked kinda like my house, in an abstract way. With each cleaning it will improve. I think the biggest help is the lidar. It hasn't gotten stuck yet! It goes everywhere and did a great job picking up everything on the floor. I was even impressed with how well it picked up the fall leaves in the back Entry! (such a gracious gift from the pups) every time it gets full it just goes and empties itself. It also does an excellent job navigating around all my furniture. Especially the dining set. All others have failed having to deal with all the legs in that area. Having the mop feature is nice as well. It will need some improvements, but for light mopping every couple of days, it's great. I would like for it to be able to suck up the dirty water for a better clean. As it is, it just collects dirt in the pad. The base station drys the pad but does not clean it, so I will be removing the pad to rinse out in the sink after a mop cycle. There should also be a button in the app to start the mop dryer once it's back in place. All in all, I'm impressed with the job this Shark Robot does. It will pay for itself in a short time when I don't have to do the vacuuming every day. I can spend more time with my puppies and let Mary Sweep do her job!

    Effective and expensive robot vacuum

I've had several robot vacuums over the past decade and this one is much larger in size than any of the others. I was intrigued by the ability to do mopping and vacuuming. Installation was not as clear in setup as I would have liked though once I ignored the instructions and then downloaded the app, things became easier. The sheet on the top of the interior once you open the box was helpful, but the QR Code was not. Best to just download the app and to go on from there. This vacuum will park itself and suck up the contents into the main housing - it is shockingly noisy while doing it. I thought something had broken and ran out to the room where the vacuum was parked. I also noticed the vacuum did not want to disembark to finish vacuuming. It just stays on the housing base until you tell it through the app to clean. I was not so much impressed with the mopping feature though the vacuuming was effective if brief in its overall runs. I've had other vacuums which would go hours and I'd just stop them, empty the debris holder and to hit the start and they'd continue to go about cleaning until they needed recharging. Overall, I don't see the benefit of the floor mopping and the shortcoming of the duration of active vacuuming was surprising. It might be okay if you got it on sale, but even cheaper vacuums do as well as this in vacuuming and offer longer cleaning durations.

I've had 3 robot vacuums prior to this one, Each one seemingly gets better technology wise obviously but this Shark Robot Vacuum & Mop PowerDetect NeverTouch Combo, Self-Emptying & Self-Refilling, 60-Day Debris Capacity with Pad Dry is the the crème de la crème for sure! It's like having a good kid who gives himself his allowance, makes a mess but actually cleans up and picks up after himself and then takes the trash out haha. This Shark Robot is packed with any and everything you could think of to clean any type of floor you need. From the box, getting everything ready to use is pretty self-explanatory plug and play and you’re ready to go. Watching it work really kind of blows my mind at how advanced technology has become. It carefully goes around the perimeter manipulating the edge of the carpet, then making its way back to empty and clean itself out. The cleaning process is super quiet but I was surprised when it went in to empty and clean itself and what sounded like a turbine or a lawn mower started up haha, within a few seconds it was done and then back to work. Its an amazing piece of machinery, how it looks, what it achieves, how flawless the floors look and the work and time it saves myself is well worth the price.

I got this at the perfect time - during a long power outage due to Hurricane Milton. Because of those, we were unable to clean, or do much else, in the house for a lot longer than should have been necessary. Once power was back on, we carefully followed the documentation to set everything up. Setup was pretty cut and dry - just read everything and you'll be good. Because we had been out of the house for a while, only coming in to tend to our pets, there was a bit of pet hair on the floors. Once this vac learned the layout of the house, it cleaned up the hair with ease. We ran multiple cycles because of the amount of hair but it tackled the chore! There were also a few spots on the floor that the mopping function tended to without any problems, especially after multiple runs. Now that the initial cleanup has happened, we've got the vac running daily which should stay on top of any hair, dirt, kibble, and spots on the floor. This is an outstanding machine - it really has exceeded any expectation of a robotic vac that I've had and out-does any of the previous ones I've had running in the house. Worth every penny!

I’ve had the Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop with NeverTouch Base for almost a week now and so far, the only thing I hate is how long it takes to type out the name in this review. Bad jokes aside, it’s a quality robotic vacuum, and Shark has done their best with this model to keep up with the competition. I have used several Shark vacuum cleaners over the years going back to when I was a teenager, and this one is by far the fanciest model I’ve used thus far. It is also the first vacuum that I’ve used that comes with its own app. (You use the app to communicate with the machine, manage its cleaning schedule, etc.) I think it is convenient for those days when I don’t feel like moving but know that I still need to clean my floors. That is why this product interested me; it seemed like it would be both practical and convenient to use. I recommend the Shark 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum for light cleaning, not deep cleaning; I don’t recommend it for heavily soiled areas. This one has decent suction power, but I still need to go back over certain dirtier spots after the fact. It’s not a perfect machine by any means, but I still enjoy having it for daily spot cleaning. The vacuum cleaning function works better than the mop function. Again, I recommend this gadget for light spot cleaning, and the mop feature is of the Shark 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum is great light messes and small spills. I like it for removing dust and small debris off my wood floors and kitchen floors, especially in my kitchen floors. I feel that this machine will work better on certain flooring/tiles better than other; I don’t think it performs equally well on all flooring. Overall, I prefer the vacuum function over the mop function, and I prefer how it performs on rugs and carpets compared to wood floors or kitchen/bathroom tiles. A less important yet notable aspect of owning the Shark 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum is the entertainment that comes with it. I have wanted a robotic vacuum cleaner for years because I think it’s so cool to watch this little thing spin and “dance” on my floors. I do admit that I often waste time watching it work because it’s fun to watch. If that isn’t enough, I thoroughly enjoy my dog trying to attack it; he HATES this thing (actually, he hates all vacuums and views them all as deadly intruders to be destroyed at all costs.) and the little guy has the most visceral reaction to it. It’s hysterical and adds a little humor to my day much to my dog’s chagrin. Lastly, I like how the Shark 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum allows me to multitask; I can be doing laundry or the dishes while this machine cleans my living room rug for me.

I have mixed feelings about the robotic mop-vac in general, but like everyone else, I NEED something like this in my life! I have pets, I cook often. This is the third robot mop-vac that I've tried, so I'm not sure if it's just a matter of the manufacturing of these types of appliances overall or what, but I feel like I still need to mop manually to get a true clean /disinfecting / sanitizing effect. That said, this unit is very well made, it looks great and I appreciate the smaller footprint of the docking station. Compared to the other brands I've tried, I really love that the rollers adjust and change between carpet and hardwood floors. It's fairly quiet, and doesn't scare my pets! It cleans itself - you do need to empty the reservoir for anyone who doesn't quite understand that part, but it's fairly low maintenence except for the fact that I've already mentioned. You WILL need to mop manually to keep the floors super clean. The app function is great, but if the Wi-Fi isn't great from wherever you are, it's hit and miss to operate remotely. Overall, it's a great unit, maybe priced a little bit high.
