Just finished watching the first season DVD set. It's the 10 disc set with the gold cover. There's an inner slipcover with the plastic DVD case that comes out of it. The inner slipcover lists the episodes with mission Stardate. The DVDs were sealed new in box and arrived safely. They all played without a hitch and I enjoyed the Trek festival. The TV I watched them on is a 19" RCA and the image filled the screen without dark letterbox lines at top or bottom or sides. The first disc made me watch a movie promo ad before I could go to the menu but that was the only one that did. The menu is pretty basic. Three episodes per disc except two on the last disc. The yellow highlighted episode is the one that plays when Play is pressed. When it's done, it returns to the menu. After all episodes on the disc have been played there's a "More Data" selection. Each disc has additional features. I haven't watched those yet, just the episodes. As for quality I was worried about the episodes being altered with remastering, but they were as I remembered them with the possible exception of brighter views of the Enterprise against the planet the ship is orbiting. Some special effect sounds get very loud compared to voices, but it could be my DVD player. Just bought my 1st DVD player and my first official TV boxed set was the 3 season TOS Trek set (gold, blue, red covers). Most of what I'll be watching will be older shows that come on DVD, not BluRay. Very happy to have control over when I want to watch shows. Classic Trek still airs on two local antenna channels 7 nights a week, but never know when that might end. I began watching Star Trek in the 60's when it first aired, on a black & white TV. The first episode I saw in color at someone else's house was Trouble With Tribbles. TOS is still my favorite show.

Pros: Transfer to Blu-ray makes it look better than ever; the DTS HD 7.1 surround sound adds nice "punch". Original mono is available as well. Hey, it is "Star Trek: The Original Series, Season 1"! Cons: Mostly minor: special effects not as "special" now, but, good for the time. The transfer of this series to Blu-ray has resulted in it being and looking better than it was when it was first shown on NBC back in the '60s(I am old enough to remember watching it then). While the special effects may not hold up to today's standards; they were pretty good for a rather unsophisticated audience. It was the story/plot that was the important part of the show. The late Gene Roddenberry used his show to talk about the issues of the day(which a lot of good and bad science fiction has done for over a century); and used the show to good advantage. The special features consist of a feature going over the re-mastering the video and audio of "Star Trek(all three seasons)"; "All Access(PIP interviews and commentary, etc.)", the home movies by Billy Blackburn, various 'Easter Eggs', interviews and profiles; these all help fill out what made ST:TOS work. Highly recommended!!

This was an upgrade for me from the dvd version to blu ray. When I purchased it in Sept 2015, this season was only $25. For Star Trek, this is unusually cheap. I imagine that means in 2016, there will be a reissue for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek which will be higher priced. If you can find this at the $25 dollar price and do not want to wait for another verslon, pick this up. It has both the original version and the enhanced remastered special effects version.

I am a Star Trek fan of long-standing. This is by far the preferred medium to enjoy the original TV series. I particularly like the enhanced special effects which bring the programs more into line with modern FX standards. However, for purists, the original effects are included so you can watch each episode as it was originally broadcast in the 60's. The plots still hold up very well and many aspects of the series were far ahead of their time; both socially (racially diverse crew) and technologically (communicators, voice-controlled computers, medical scanners and telemetry). Well worth owning for all Trekkies as well as anyone who enjoys intelligent, well-written science fiction.

A must for any Star Trek fan. Video quality is excellent. Standard versions are available as well as enhanced versions for purists. Sound quality is also awesome for home theater systems. Simply put, after buying Season 1 and after only viewing a couple of episodes and seeing and hearing the improvement, I bought Season 2 and 3 Fantastic!!!

The Classic Star Trek that started the whole franchise, uncut & remastered. The colors are bright & scenes are clear, not muddy, though there are limits with the 1960s film & cameras. It's great to see the episodes written by top SF authors & Roddenberry. The extras are great & lots of them.

The episodes looked better than ever. I loved the enhanced special effects that were inserted into the show. Watching the show in order of airing was fun. I got to experience what the fans of the show saw back in the Sixties. I look forward to seeing the other two seasons.

I really like the looks of this new packaging design, looks good and stores well on your shelves. As for the content of the DVD's, well we all know what you are getting by now. A great classic TV show to view over and over.

Great movie collection for the vintage Star Trek series fans. The additions to the remastered/enhanced episodes are well done without taking anything away from the authenticity of these early episodes. Lots of bonus features are included for the diehard Trekkies.

This was a Christmas Gift for my Godmother. I love that I cant reach her sometimes because shes catching up on old times.

I was very hesitant to buy DVD's that were re-mastered, edited &/or tweaked. However I'm very pleased to say that most of the "improvements" aren't noticeable and don't detract from the viewing pleasure. Very good job. These would make a fine and economical addition to any collection for anyone still watching on VHS.

It's a great quality product - and a wonderful way to watch again the first sci-fi TV show I ever watched when I was young. Will enjoy this for a long time.

You can either play the whole episode with original special effects or with the remade ones. You can also switch while watching an episode by using the 'other angles' setting that is on almost all blu ray players.

Was very pleasantly surprised with the special effects, enhancements and seeing it on blu ray. If you've followed all the Star Treks thru the years, having the one that started it all is a must.

There is absolutely nothing like seeing the original Star Trek, in its original TV form. Yes, it may not be high-def, but this is it, in all it's true glory!!! There's nothing else like it!!

I like the enhanced visual effects they manage to fit in with everything in the show

I love Star Trek and but really needed this series on DVD because I wanted to start from the beginning and watch them all. Well I'm on disk 5 right now and I have to say this box set is perfect! It has all the first season episodes and a ton of extra content to watch!

Season one in its original format and also in an enhanced format. Didn't think I would like the enhanced version, but I now enjoy it more than the original.

Only way to improve on classic writing is enhanced effects. Otherwise the chemistry is what has kept this series and franchise alive. The 3 seasons have lasted over time. Also many of the high tech gadgets are now common items.

The remasters have amazing clarity. Well worth it. And the special features at the end of each disk. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
