This movie is fantastic and i really wanted to own this. I bought this on DVD cause it said wide screen and pan & scan (full screen) version. When i got it, it was full screen ONLY so i returned it and turned to ebay.

Another gift opportunity...but you his one fell flat. The recipient asked for it, and commented “...why did I ask you to order THIS movie?...but it was something to do for about 2 hours...”

Two things I am currently obsessed with, UFOS/ALIENS and Dinosaurs. This is a wonderful fun, ET CHICK FLIX. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Enjoy all of Jeff Bridges Movies. STARMAN was great because it had some Sci-Fi in it.

    Carpenter's last gem (so far)

The last great John Carpenter film (although he is still with us, so I guess I should remain optimistic). The title character is an alien who travels to Earth in response to Voyager II's invitation. Needless to say, the authorities don't exactly roll out the welcome wagon and shoot down his craft which crashes near the home of a grieving widow (Karen Allen). The visitor then proceeds to take the form of her late husband (Jeff Bridges) and all but forces her to accompany him to the rendezvous point where his people can pick him up or he'll die. They are pursued by a sympathetic scientist (Charles Martin Smith) & a close-minded Pentagon official (Richard Jaeckel). Bridges is fabulous in the lead & Allen matches him, plausibly going from fear to sympathy and then love (which is returned) toward her companion.

If you haven't yet seen 'Starman,' then you really need to, because it is an outstanding picture. Jeff Bridges gives probably the best performance of his career, and Karen Allen plays her role exceptionally well too. Unfortunately, you can now only get the fullscreen version of this movie (it originally was released in both widescreen and full-screen, but for some reason Columbia/Tri-Star pictures often discontinues widescreen dvd titles after their initial release). But even in full-screen, this movie is still one you will enjoy.
