An Interesting Watch, Especially for King Fans

The first attempt at adapting Stephen Kings iconic novel for the screen. Very interesting watch. Great atmosphere and a fantastic performance as Pennywise the Clown by Tim Curry. The ensemble cast is decent, but not all of them are the best actors, especially the actor who portrays the adult version of Bill is very wooden. Overall, a very interesting watch about the manifestation of a persons fears, and the design of the steelbook aet itself is beautiful, with the matte finish cover fearuring Pennywise.

    They ALL Float Down Here!

Stephen King's It is one of the better adaptations of a King novel. The film is a two-part miniseries that aired in 1990. The film tells the tale of seven brave kids called the Losers who fight back against a menace simply known as IT that is terrorizing their town of Derry. Thirty years later, the evil resurfaces and the Losers must return, now adults, to do battle with IT once more. I really liked this film. The first half is fantastic, but the second half is a little lacking. Tim Curry plays Pennywise, IT's favorite form, and is by far the best performance of the lot. Everyone else gives mediocre performances. The ending of the film is horrible. The special effects in the ending are awful, but it's a made-for-TV movie, so you can't really complain. This specific disc holds a good movie, but it is a bad presentation. The film comes in a cardboard snap case and there is a flipper disc inside. The flipper disc has part one on one side and part two on the other. However, the disc doesn't say which side is which. That is, understandably, annoying. Overall, it's worth getting just to see one of the creepiest clown performances ever.

Looks good for a classic no digital copy

The movie that has people to this day scared of clowns. The Steven king movie....It. Made in the early 90's I'm glad to have it on blu-ray. Purchased this one to add to the collection & show my kids where the movie originated from. Great picture & sound for being filmed in the 90's this restored version will not disappoint. This movie probably looks & sounds better then movies out now. Although you only get the case & a blu-ray I'll take it. I do wish it came with a digital copy.

    IT's from the 90's

Having missed IT when the miniseries first aired, I was delighted to see it restored on Blu-ray. The power of the story lies in the underdog kids who band together in a Goonies-style quest to defend themselves from the bogeyman Clown haunting their town. Our sympathy for these characters carries over to their adult lives when they have to band together 30 years later, restore their relationships, and finally defeat Pennywise. Yes, the effects are a bit dated, and the Clown is played with some camp by Tim Curry. But he is nonetheless a frightening caricature of bad dreams for children, and the performances of the actors along with solid direction make this horror tale work. The bond the main characters share and their true love and affection for each other is the true strength of this version. Recommended if you want a more heartfelt, though no less tragic telling of Stephen King's IT.

This movie is why im petrified of Clowns

been a stephen king fan (he's my favorite writer) since 1993. I was only 10 when this aired on TV in 1990 and i was told not to watch it as it was scary so i snuck watched it and i had nightmares for weeks. it was very scary and disturbing in some parts. i became petrified of clowns (tim curry played a scary murderous clown/alien creature who deserved an emmy named Pennywise). its a decent adaptation of the book but did leave out a lot of graphic details and moments. they were remaking IT into 2 parts theatricially so hopefully they will be more faithful. the casting was perfect for each roll. the film jumps between the 60s and the 90s with the 60s being the losers club meeting and fighting pennywise the first time. 90s being them as adults going back to fight him again as he has started killing again. i do not know why i bought this since im scared of any sort of clown but prob cause its a good movie and i love stephen king lol.

When I saw this movie in the early 90s, I remember I thought that this was a weird, random and a little confusing movie, considering that this was mostly a tv show, it wasn't one of my favorites to be honest, I saw the remake at the movie theater a few weeks ago, and I think is much better than the original (I love it), so I was crazy to get the original...and just on time for Halloween, I finally got it on BR, great picture with great audio restoration, but after I saw the remake, I think this one is even worse than I remember, not one of my favorites, but still a must have horror classic film.

I was excited to find this movie locally, and it was on sale. The steelbook is cool. But the description really needs to warn purchasers what the last date to claim the digital movie is. Luckily, I picked up my movie the day it was available. If I had waited until the last day in the pickup window, the code for claiming the digital movie would have been expired!

    It-Bluray + film mini review

An extremely well done TV mini series. I've never read the book so I can't compare them. The acting and special effects for the time in 1990 were great for television and even good by today's standards. Tim Curry is still a force in this series. He makes the whole project work. The ending is meh but still a standard by which many Steven King book adaptations are judged by. To that end I recommend this film. The Blu-ray is slightly above DVD quality as the quality does go back and forth but for the price definitely worth the upgrade.

Finally a Blu-ray release of the seminal mini-series. Picture quality is excellent and we finally have it all together without being on a flipper disc. Stereo track is solid for a tv release. The film itself is still frightening all the way up until...ok, no spoilers, but if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about. A worthy horror staple and great companion intro to the new duo of films.

    Just Doesn't Hold Up

This movie freaked me out as a kid, but much of what made it great hasn't held up with time. It still has some spooky and effective scenes, and Pennywise will always be creepy, but the presentation's slow pace and cheesy effects at the end keep the fear at bay. There is still a lot to enjoy, but I'd stick with the book if you're looking for a scare. This film is a solid introduction to the world of horror for adolescents, though. Given that you can buy it for a few bucks, it is worth it for the nostalgia alone.

This is the 1990s mini series. Such a wonderful film, and a decent adaptation. I bought it after purchasing the new filmon Blu Ray. My only criticism of this product is that the cover is misleading. The black cover with Pennywise (Tim Curry) is actually a cardboard sleeve. The actual Blu Ray cover is the same white one you see on the DVDs. It was kind of misleading. But oh well, didn't spoil the film. Great deal!

A classic horror story seen this movie so many times and still love it my son never seen the Original and he love it after watching it the 1080p picture quality looks great. One thing I've noticed now that I'm older was pennywise wasn't seen that much in the second half also his true form could have been better but for that time I guess that's as good as it get's watching this movie made me so hype to see the IT chapter 2 remake.

So i watched this when it aired as a mini series on channel 7 as a kid. I read the book because my dad had it and was able to appreciate the visual. Althought alot of this mini series doesnt play out like the book it is still one of my faves. I am so excited the new IT movie to come out on blue ray because then my collection will be complete. And yes..i did get the book as an adult and my kids are avid readers and appreciate Stephen Kings talent as well!

When i was younger this film definitely shook me a little on clowns. This is definitely the superior version of the film. Having only seen this on home video i never had to absorb it in parts. Unlike the new films which have me hanging for the conclusion. If the second part of the remake is of the same caliber as the first... I will definitely maintain my belief of the original being superior.

Before you go see the remake later this year, you need to watch the original miniseries that scared a generation! Tim Curry's performance is the standout as Pennywise the Clown. The first part with the kids is admittedly more interesting than the second part with the adult version of the characters. It is also a little dated, but overall, this is still a thriller I could recommend to any fans of the horror genre.

It is an extraordinary movie from Stephen's King novel. Here we have a character, Pennywise, who terrorize a small population through many generations nd gets back every 30 years. Having now the blue ray version, you can understand better what's going on with him. for being a TV mini-series and not counting with the technology and special effects of today, you defenetly going to think twice before you see a clown.

I got this movie to show my girlfriend, who never saw it before. I was worried because many movies, particularly horror films do not hold up over time. Thankfully Tim Curry and the late great Jonathan Brandis' performances still hold sway. The bluray picture makes Pennywise that much creepier. Because it was a tv miniseries, there isn't a lot of gore or swearing, but that doesn't diminish the eerieness.

Being in quarantine for so long I finally ventured out to a Best Buy store to check out some movies to watch at home. I came across "It" and since I had never seen the movie decided to purchase it. Just eerie enough and cheesy enough to hold my attention.

The video and audio quality of this adaptation is quite good even though it's not in widescreen because of the TV format at the time it was made. The only bonus feature is an audio commentary by the director and some of the actors. However, it's really good and definitely worth a listen.

This is a fairly good adaptation of the Stephen King novel by the same name. This was a made for tv movie, and was originally shown over the course of 2 nights. This Blu-Ray is not in widescreen, so the picture will not take up the entire screen of your hd tv that you own. Worth watching, and it will be interesting to see how the remake coming out compares to this.
