Very good quality cameras, easy to install and good resolution. The only reason it’s not getting a 5 star is because of the app. 90% of the time it runs smoothly but every now and then the playback and download option will lag but thankfully there is never any issues with the playback on the actual hard drive with the mouse so that’s really what saves it.

I want to start out by saying due to the pandemic situation, here is something to consider. If you are going to get a handyman or installer to install this security system it may take a while to get scheduled. If you go the route to install this yourself, start by drawing out a layout of where you would like to mount and run wires through your home. This will save you a lot of time rather than struggling through trial and error. For outdoor camera wiring I went through siding and routed wires along that or drilled a hole directly through to the outside and made sure to apply the proper caulking to insulate from the environment. For indoor placement, I ran through drywall and had to patch up a few parts in order to make it look wireless and clean. Given that this kit only has 4 cameras but the receiver has an input for 8, you may want to pickup the extra 4 cameras to properly secure your home or business depending on your security needs. Also the flashing red/blue lights may be a deterrent but can get annoying when setting up (add in the siren sound and you can scare anyone off). Spend the extra time in setting up your preferences, detection notifications, recording, and smart phone controls this way you only setup once and won't have to bother going in again. As for the quality of the equipment itself, this is where I am worried on what time will tell. I feel like the cameras are cheap plastic and if they spend a lot of time out in the sun and midwest weather that we have I kind of have my doubts. They are IP66 rated. Why I would choose this product: -4k Resolution -Smart phone Accessible -Works with Google Home Assistant and Amazon Alexa -Easy setup wizard (Spend time after to go over all settings) -Cloud backup -Thermal detection monitoring -2TB internal HDD (expandable to 6TB) Look elsewhere if: -You want sound capture in your video (they do include mic inputs just no mic in the camera) -Want a plug and play system

Bought this to replace a failing system bought elsewhere This system is way better quality, wish I had gotten this one from the beginning. Easy to navigate the software and I like that you can turn the light on and off on the cameras. Night vision is amazing. The only thing I would have liked better is if they provided a couple cables that were longer than the rest. Each camera comes with a 60 foot cable, would be nice if maybe 2 would be 100 feet for those longer runs. Overall I'm very satisfied though.

I bought 2 of these to replace older Swann 720/1080 mixed camera system. Basically needed a system that would work with an app and the last system didn't. I bought 2 of these because I needed the 8 cameras (for an 8 channel DVR). Now I have a spare DVR in case one goes out. I immediately swapped the hard drive with a SSD and that is a super simple process. The reason for the 4 stars the fact that SSD is fairly common and there is no reason not to start including in the DVR. Second, the fan in this, although not super loud, it is annoying, expecially for a bedroom (or probably any room for that matter). My last Swann did not have this problem. Reading the reviews, this is a common problem with the newer Swann DVRs. So, I just ordered a new fan for this brand new system based on a recommendation of another Swann Owner. So, bottom line is that the cost of this new 4K system is very reasonable, but add a SSD and a new fan, and bump the price $120.00. Some if not most could settle for a mechanical hard drive and noisy fan, but for Home use, an upgraded unit should be offered. I would have paid the extra money for the upgrades. Overall the cameras are better especially during daytime, but the night vision is actually worse for distance than my last unit. I do like the app because it was super simple to set up and view the cameras, though it only plays in SD in the app vice 4k when looking at the screen on a TV or Monitor. Bottom line, I would still recommend.

Sometimes a wired system is better than wireless to prevent loss of recordability. Not hard to install depending on camera location, DVR location, and size of home. Image quality matches directly to the monitor (1080, 4k, low res, high res). Easy to configure schedule, but problems with internet connectivity for email notifications. However, the phone app ( android) can be used for notifications, but playback function on the phone app doesn't work. These cameras do not have built-in microphone that is a separate install and cable run. The infrared red offers good night vision, provided a light is not obtrusive, and can be turned off.

I go this video surveillance system to know who's at my door, and the coming and going of 4 teenagers, their friends and what they do in our home. I've set up and tested a few cameras wired to the central recording and the unit seems to work well as expected. Now for the tough part, the wiring. I live in an old house with four floors of living space. Wiring is not my expertise and I have a family member that will be doing that for me. Unfortunately, he has not been available to do that with this COVID-19 interruption to life. After the wiring is completed and the cameras are installed, I will give a complete and full blown review.

What is In the Box: 1) There are two cardboard boxes inside the branded Swann package. One for DVR, Manuals, and Cables required for DVR (Ethernet cable, HDMI cable), another box has 4 cameras and extension cables, power adapters, and splitter cables, and the mouse. 2) Manual are very useful, They clearly marked numbers 1,2, and 3 so that easy to read and follow the order. 3) 8 Security stickers and a professional installation card in case if needed any support. This is a wired security camera system, I always prefer to have a wired system instead of Wifi security, Wifi security systems looks good and very easy installation because there are no wires to pull over all the house and attic :), But if you really wants a good security system then i prefer wired one, because of the quality and connection stability of the camera, this is security camera is very stable to get connected all the times without any drop, Image quality is very good, It records videos up to 2 TB which is very good, no need to pay fees to anybody, Cloud storage option also available. This is an upgradable security system, which means we can add four more cameras. 18meters extension cable wires which are OK to cover some spots but not all, this depends on house and yard size and where we want to place the camera. True defect identifies people and animals (based on heat), Each camera has a built-in siren that is loud enough but you can configure how and when you want to set it from your phone. Speaking about the phone, They have a Phone app that works smoothly without any issues, we can set notifications per each camera, video steaming quality can be adjusted. Please check the attached pictures for DVR ports and other parts.

Great quality video and it's easy to install and adjust the cameras. Works with the older cameras although the resolution of course will only be as good as those cameras. Additional cameras and longer cables are reasonable. The alarm is VERY loud and effective. Smartphone app was easy to set up and use.

IT DOESNT HAVE AUDIO I contacted the swann team and they only have one camera that is compatible with this system that has audio... but they have stopped making them.. so good luck trying to find the camera you want with audio... the VIDEO QUALITY is outstanding, you can really see everything from up close to far distance! The NIGHT VISON is also amazing very clear and crisp! The wiring is a hassle but if you follow every step it will be super easy

I purchased this solely because it was a wired system and no batteries required for cameras. I only wished it came with all 8 cameras so I don’t have to order two more. The picture quality is impressive from any zone I choose and night vision is excellent. You need a battery back up for the dvr if you have power dropping issues. The app for iPhone is a little precarious at times but the overall install/set up was a breeze of both app and system plus no monthly fees but also no live monitoring. I would highly recommend to anyone that is handy enough to install things themselves. 60’ of wiring is included as well as about a 6’ hdmi and Ethernet cord. Also all power adapters for dvr and cameras. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. You’ll be happy you did.

Was a huge hassle to get these all installed. Had to buy a longer cable for 4 of the cameras, but the quality is spectacular. Met my needs and then some. Wish there was audio to go along with the video feed, but great cameras nevertheless.

A home security camera system is pretty much essential these days and you always want to have the clearest image possible so that identification can be achieved. That is really a benefit of 4K camera systems over HD. Even though the installation can be a bit tedious, I personally prefer wired systems over wireless systems. For the most part they are install and forget, no need to recharge batteries or have a nearby power outlet. Plus a home wired DVR/NVR system can allow easy 24 hour recording without expensive online cloud services. However, that means the recorded evidence is now in the same facility as the cameras should things really go south. There is the option to link recordings to a Dropbox online though. There are several differences between a DVR system and a NVR system, one being the cabling type and the ability for audio. Most DVR systems, like this Swann Enforcer system, use BNC cables for digital video and attached but split power cord for the camera. While NVR systems usually use Ethernet cable with Power-Over-Ethernet. The NVR systems usually allow for the additional wire channels to provide audio recording and two-way communications. Other differences also tend to be lower field of view and lower frames per second on DVR systems compared to NVR. This Swann Enforcer system is a DVR using BNC cables, so therefore there is no audio capability, the field of view is only about 90 degrees and at 3840x2160 resolution you only get 8 frames per second. This does make some images look choppy and some fast moving images, especially at night, blurry. However, at 4K the image is pretty sharp and gives the ability to digitally zoom and still make out details. The color night vision however, loses details, especially at a distance, and adds a lot of color noise to the video. You can have the LED light and/or the siren trigger on motion detection. The siren, though not super loud, could be annoying on useless triggers, will still get someone's attention. Another point to note is that everything is wired for this device. Wires are included, with 60ft for the cameras, 3 ft for the ethernet and about 6ft for the HDMI. So, plan your connections ahead of time as we had to get an additional ethernet cord to get to the router. By default, this system only records motion and passive infrared (PIR). Having let it run at default for a bit, I noticed even with their enhanced PIR, it was still missing moments after the initial detection that a normal 24/7 style recording will provide. For instance, walking out the door to the car would be recorded, but the moments of rummaging through the car and even getting out of the car didn’t record as motion or PIR. Enabling the “normal” record is simple enough with the mouse on the DVR and shows as green for normal, purple for PIR and yellow for motion on the DVR in playback. This makes it simple to browse on a connected television, monitor or to save the segments that you need to an external device. However, this leads to an issue with the way their Swann Security app works and makes the app pretty much useless. The point of a security camera system is to be able to watch your home away from home and catch what you might not be there to see. This is where an app for your phone is desirable. Their app does allow you to live view the cameras that are online, which takes forever to load on my Note 10+. You can see all cameras in small screens at once or select one to make full screen. You can enable the LED light or the siren with red/blue light, take a snapshot or record local. But, playback of any past video is the worst I have ever seen. For some reason, their system requires you to download the full video clip of what was recorded. So, if a motion event was 30 seconds long, you have to download a 30 second video before viewing any of it. You don’t see how long the clip is till it is downloaded either. However, if you enable the normal record for 24/7 recording, the normal video without motion events is still considered an event and recorded in 1 hour blocks. For instance, I see events for 00:00:00 and 01:00:00 at the start of a new day. If I wanted to look at this video, I would have to download an entire hours worth of video before even getting to review it. However, you can’t do that as the app will time out before you get that far. If there isn’t activity to break that hour long recording, or you want to see what happens outside of the detected event, you can really only do it locally at the DVR. This is if the app even shows the events for the day as I have had several days now that the app shows no events while the DVR clearly shows it has been recording and catching motion/PIR events. The app is also really limited in what it can do. Besides live view and the useless playback, the only settings you can change are the names of the cameras and push notifications. As for notifications, the only ones I have received have been when the cameras were disconnected, even though they are all enabled for all cameras. It has modes, but that is just changing which of the possible cameras will send push notifications depending on your preference. For example you might not want notifications for a specific camera while you are home, but you do while away. If you get notifications at all. Overall, if you are looking for a wired local DVR system that you don’t intend to use a phone app for, this one is about average for 4K DVR systems. However, if you want audio and a reliable remote view option, I would look elsewhere.

Good quality cameras for the price. Nice storage space, fairly easy to install and use. Only downside is the wires. Overall good product if you don’t wanna spend hundreds on security cameras.

Great camera i love the quality and the easy installation

This is great system that is installed around and inside of a small church building. We had to get some BNC to Ethernet video extenders for the long cable runs to some of the endpoints. Overall, the picture quality is sharp and very clear, even in a darkly lit area. Very simple to install and setup for an experienced installer or an electrician. Swann also has a fairly decent app for your phone or tablet that sends notifications (if you opt in) for motion detected and it's very easy to view the the video clip that was captured on the DVR from the app. So that comes in handy, especially if you're away somewhere. I've even used the Swann skill with Amazon Alexa so my Fire TV can display any camera (one at a time) with a simple voice command. The software on the DVR is fairly intuitive and I managed to tweak everything I needed to so far. It was worth the price tag and I do recommend it for those who want a low cost, reliable system and can sacrifice not having two-way audio. The flashing lights are pretty cool, but the buzzer sound is kind of "cheesy" in my humble opinion.

The cameras are great. We were able to easily put them on and it was very easy to connect. The instructions were clear and the app on the phone is a great added bonus. You can have more than one person to see the cameras. The night vision helps to see everything very well.

Review for the Swann - Enforcer™ 8-Channel, 8-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K system. I purchased this 4K system to replace a 8 year old Swann camera system that was still working but images were poor (old 420 TV lines analog). This Enforcer system is up to date with sharp video. My topology is the Camera system DVR is attached to my network with Ethernet. All cameras are hardwired (no choice with this system). This was fine as my old system's cables were used to pull the new cables through all the runs. The system is monitored with a Window 10 Desktop using Swann's computer interface. The download and setup wasn't to complicated. The computer app has a lot of available configuring for the alarms ( lights and siren ) on each camera. I hardened the system with DVR, close by monitor and the Desktop all on UPS backups that are surge protectors also. The 4K resolution is amazing and that is with only a 1080p monitor. Full screen and zoomed in to a selected area the picture is very good. This is a solid system. I'm not using the phone app yet but that was notifications and remote video playback. There is no audio with these cameras just F.Y.I. There is enough storage on the DVR for many weeks of history as I only have the system record when it sees something and the sensitivity is adjustable. There is just a lot of customization to explore if you choose. Thumbs up.

Swann's HD CCTV recorder is easy to setup. My four (4) camera kit allows for an additional four (4) cameras to be connected. Standard coaxial connectors makes expanding my coverage economical. Plug in and setup is a breeze. Mouse interface is one of the friendliest I've used in while. Time sync thanks to using the internet. The app provided great picture quality away from home. No loud fans in the recorder. Nice feature. Extra long coaxial Siamese power cables. Low power cameras work great with built in LED lights, night vision, sirens and red/blue warning strobe.

Good quality in cameras. Easy installation. Somewhat difficult when connecting to WiFi. I was told my device was having trouble in connecting to the internet. Something about not being compatible.
