Great deal on underrated but important Bourne film

The Bourne Legacy has been misunderstood since day one. It was not meant to reboot or replace Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, it was actually doing 2 things instead: buying time for Matt Damon to return while also expanding the Bourne world for additional characters to emerge. Taking place before, during, and after the events of Bourne Ultimatum, Legacy presents an eerie and even more disturbing premise: what if there are many more illegal black ops programs being run beyond just the one Bourne was trying to stop (Blackbriar) that the public as well as Bourne don't even know about. And what if these programs were taking human conditioning to the next level by not only "brainwashing" the assassins but enhancing them using cellular and gene therapy to boost their strength, speed, endurance, and cognitive skills. This many seem far-fetched now but this is exactly what is being researched as we speak. Tony Gilroy the director in fact confirms in the commentary that he consulted with a respected scientist/researcher about soldiers using gene/cellular therapy and the scientist confirmed that it is only a matter of time till this is put into practice in reality. If you can get past the "viral boost" aspect (which is treated well) then the movie is a solid action film with uniformly good performances, smart plotting, and essential Bourne elements including daring escapes, conspiracies, shadowy back room deals, car chases, and hand to hand combat. Plus it casts an ominous pall over the entire series when you realize that Bourne is "only the tip of the iceberg" and that there are many more "super assassins" out there doing the government's dirty work. Lastly, if you haven't seen Jason Bourne (Bourne 5, 2016), I recommending watching the original trilogy plus Legacy to get the complete backstory. The blu ray presentation is top notch with a high quality 1080p visuals and lossless DTS-HD sound plus informative extras and digital copies (UV and iTunes) so you can watch the movie on the go. If you're a Bourne fan grab Bourne Legacy at this great price!

A surprising twist in the Bourne series

There is a lot of conversation in the first 20 minutes of the movie, but Aaron Cross, the character played by Jeremy Renner, is silent and alone. His first line is, "I was trying to be polite." Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz are both completely believable in their roles. As are the rest of the cast, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, et al. Renner's character is appealing whether he speaks or not. It looks as if Jeremy Renner did most of his stunts himself. Watching him run across the uneven rooftops of Manila, he looks like a skier. He is an agile, athletic actor who can be and do whatever is called for. I was also impressed by Rachel Weisz who is convincing as a scientist lost in a world of terror. You can almost hear her heart beating as the scenes explode around her. I hope they do another Bourne film with Renner & Weisz....

I loved the continuation of the whole Jason Bourne/top-secret agent/government intelligence/conspiracy/cover up series. Who could possibly fill Jason Bourne's shoes? Maybe now that we've seen Aaron Cross, as another one of the program's agents gone solo, they'll start a new series with him. Great movie, great action scenes, plots, twists, and turns. The only thing that I absolutely didn't like was how they portrayed the wolves to be the vicious, man-eating, blood thirsty predators in the wilderness/mountains in the movie. They should have done a lot more research on the topic of wolves and not gone with the popular misconceptions of what people think wolves are like. This movie loses points w/ me in that regards. If it had a better scenario involving the wolves, or no wolves at all, I would recommend. Everything else was great.

Yes, its well noted by now that The Bourne Legacy is just a way for Universal to make more money with a different star, and the film suffers a bit because of Matt Damon's lack of presence, but Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross is a pleasant enough diversion. The PQ and AQ is terrific with the 35mm film transfer and a scene or two of digital photography lends itself well to BluRay, with sharp, detailed images and an awesome soundfield to make you duck for cover from every gunshot heard and felt throughout. The extras are pleasant if not totally in-depth with a few features to satisfy temporarily, with the filmmaker commentary being the main draw here. The featurettes are decent as well as some deleted scenes, but overall nothing to get worked up over.

Enjoyed this new movie in the Bourne Series. Not sure it was as strong as the first group in which Matt Damon played Jason Bourne, but it held it's own. I'm glad that they actually created a new group of characters in this one and the actors did a good job of pulling this off. There are a couple of points in the story where I felt they jumped over some elements too quickly and the character was all of a sudden in a different city. However, overall it was possible to keep up with what was going on. This is a good movie with plenty of action to keep the viewer engaged.

If you like the Bourne movies this fourth one in the series, with Jeremy Renner as the test subject, gives you more in the understory of the secret soldier program. This story takes place in the same time period as the third movie; we get a little more insight into the secret soldier program and that the agency is now trying to end it, and the test subject soldiers, to bury the flaws of the program. But of course, in addition to Jason, there is at least one more 'legacy' soldier who discovers all is not right with being a robot after recieving an assignment gone awry. The fun begins and he starts looking for answers in the face of attempted assassinations...

This was a very entertaining movies that weaves itself into the previous installments in very interesting ways. The only bad thing about the film is the same issue I had with the previous two Bourne films (the ones directed by Paul Greengrass, not the first one by Doug Liman) is that there is way too much handheld camera work. In my view, the current overuse of handheld to convey action is lazy and unnecessary and does not in any way reflect how the human eye perceives anything. If you are prone to motion sickness and the previous two films made you a bit dizzy, you will have the same experience with this one.

I'm a huge fan of the first three Jason Bourne movies. I like how his character is developed throughout the three and the story tied together. I felt that having Jeremy Renner (great actor) star in the fourth with no sign of Jason didn't fit. It was already understood that there were other agents in the program, but a whole movie about just one of them? The title is also misleading if Jason Bourne is not actually in the movie. Good action film, but not a good tie in to the original three.

This movie package was a great deal. Not only did it come with a BluRay disc AND a digital copy (which means we"ve been able to watch this movie without even taking the physical media disc out of the case) - it also included $8 towards an actual movie ticket to see the new Bourne Identity movie that just hit the theaters! The process of claiming the $8 movie reward went smoothly and flawlessly. Plus with this movie we have the best of both worlds - something to collect and have in addition to the convenience and flexibility of digital delivery directly to our phones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs!

Having been a super-fan of the first three films (after being a super-fan of the original novels), I was reluctant to watch a new "Bourne." Don't hesitate. There is a very good story that connects the films and the embedded flashback scenes from past films also help the continuity. Great chemistry between Renner & Weisz (although not as spectacular as that between Matt & Franka).

Jeremy Renner is good as Aaron Cross, another Jason Bourne type "asset." The movie has an excellent ratio of action versus character development. Thankfully, it also leaves things wide open for another installment. A major negative for me was the depiction of workplace violence, which our society obviously doesn't need any more of. I understand that it was an integral part of the movie, but perhaps it could have been more told about rather than so graphically shown.

The film started at brisk pace, although a bit confusing. However, as the second act began the audience had a clear understanding of the problems facing the protagonist. The third act was a bit over the top with the action sequences but overall it was well done and the production well paced. The sequences shot overseas gave the film an interesting backdrop. The plot of getting an antidote was a bit far fetched but added to the plot. The actors across the board played their roles well an the scriptwriting was well done. I highly recommend the movie an look forward to the follow on episodes.

I have been a fan of the Bourne series since Bourne identity was first released. I thought they were quality action movies that also have good storylines. I was disappointed to hear the Matt Damon would not reprise his role in Legacy but I think Jeremy Renner was an excellent choice to fill that void. Rachel Weisz was brilliant as always...she and Renner had wonderful chemistry. I won't spoil anything but I will just say that I thought the movie ended rather abruptly. I understand they were leaving it open for a possible sequel but a little bit more closure would have been nice.

If you are a Bourne fan, them this latest sequel will most certainly not disappoint! This movie delivered more than fans were expecting. It's plot held your attention, the action was never-ending, they did a miraculous job introducing the latest "Bourne," and it is so well done that it makes it very difficult to wait until the next one comes out.

With the exception of the original Bourne Identity, this is by far the best Bourne movie! The plot carried, it had no dull moments, and frankly, the action was much more believable. I'm not trying to knock Matt Damon, but the way the previous Bourne's action sequences were spliced together was so choppy, you never really saw Matt through a real punch or perform a cool maneuver, it was always split-second fast or implied. Jeremy Renner is such a talent, none of the action looked flubbed, he actually performs the moves! Such a great flick!

Jeremy Renner continues the Bourne story in good fashion. The script is up to the Matt Damon movies and the story and cast are as well. There were new chase sequences that keep the series ahead of the other pix with exciting twists. It leaves you wanting to know what happens to the characters at the end. It is open to another chapter with Renner playing Aaron Cross the equally troubled soul to Damon's now famous Jason Bourne. This is a very good Blu-Ray with DTS sound to match.

Another action packed movie in the Bourne series. Though I missed Matt Damon in this one, it still was decently acted. I did think a few storylines were repeated from earlier movies in the series and would not have preferred this, but overall it did not disappoint. Looking forward to the new movie that's out in theaters now but wanted to watch this one first.
