Charlie Hunnam gives the best performance of his career so far. Robert Pattinson is fabulous as well. However, the film as a whole loses a lot of its hoped-for impact through strange and confusing editing. Perhaps there is a director's cut with missing footage that would help keep a viewer more compelled by the admittedly fascinating true story. If you want a great Amazon jungle film, watch Herzog's Aguirre or Fitzcarraldo. In fact, if you haven't seen them both, watch them immediately. This film even indirectly references Fitzcarraldo with the opera scene. It's gorgeous and interesting, but not great. Tom Hardy's recent Taboo series was English period imperialist drama at its best. This is a near miss.

The movie could have been a little shorter, 90 mins instead of 120. Very interesting story especially since it had really happened. The movie was very interesting. The storyline at times was slow. But all in all it holds your interest. It truly is a sad movie , but it dose have a very interesting ending.I would not recommend this for the action movie goer. But this is a movie for the avid movie watcher. Which then I would recommend it.

This movie is well-made whilst lacking some of the charm / zeal the character exudes. I think if the movie matched our hero's zeal, the film could have been more rousing. But it's good nonetheless. The disc DOES boast a commentary, which is nice, but lacks much else in the way of features.

Hunnam and Pattinson are really, really good. But at times, the story feels choppy and, outside of Hunnam's personal aspirations, somewhat uninspired. For me, they disnt do justice to the South American waterways, either.

The movie did seem more historical than I thought it would be. I did feel as if I was left hanging a bit when the final graphics finished the story...otherwise it was done well.

This is was an ok movie in the collection ! You need this for your big screen TVs ! You’ll LIKE IT !

This movie starts off very slow paced. could have cut this movie down 20-30 minutes and would have been much better. Good movie, but better rent it if you are not sure.

Interesting take on history. Good to see some of the more details of his adventure. Not too exciting, story drive but not too bad if get into history.

My personal opinion would be to rent this movie. Has a great story line but got boring at parts. I expected more. Kind of a let down.

I loved the trailer, so I took a chance on the movie. It was more suspenseful in the trailer. Harder to keep mg attention in the movie.

Nothing too memorable. No big scenes that stand out. Not worthy of the movie theater, but ok to watch at home

It was an interesting story and well acted, however it moved slowly and the ending was anticlimactic.

Dvd itself was good quality. Movie was generally good but rather slow moving. Expected more action.
