What can I say, over all I liked the movie. I watched it after seeing clips of the plants on you tube so this was not a surprise but I do not recall hearing about the book. I remember seeing trailers and wanting to see this but I waited for DVD. It was worth the wait and I really enjoyed this. I did not like that it started and just maintained this sort of even-ness. I jumped a little at times but it really has this sort of unending feeling like "ok, thiis is the situation and you are not getting out" (like big brother with kller plants). I found myself at one point thinking I could leave the room but then I get off the couch and bam, back to business and the movie was over. I actually back tracked to make sure my DVD was not flawed. No, it seems they just did not know what to do or needed to cut the time and they ended this very abuptly. Watched the special features and thought the other endings gave the piece a different vibe and meaning. These guys need to listen to their gut. But then, a few days later I was walking my dog, looked at a bush with a flower and now I am reading the book. Thank you Ben Stiller, you saved me a Saturday in Borders and my shrink thanks you for my new paranoia. These are signs of great story making (5 stars) but not great execution (4 stars).

    Quarantined outdoors

A group of college kids embark on a mission to see historic Mayan ruins located in the middle of a jungle. The plot is nothing new for a movie, but it is still pretty interesting. The entire movie, minus maybe the first 15 min or so, takes place in one scene. If you're looking for variety, in terms of the environment and scenery, you will not find it here, as everything takes place on top of a large ruined temple. The movie combines the aspects of being quarantined, and a desperate struggle for survival. As time progresses, the struggle becomes harder and harder, and the movie provides quite a good sense of this, as water, food, and resources become vital. There is minimal horror here, and you won't find any captivating horror moments. There are however some good gory moments that may leave you cringing or turning away. Overall, if you're into survival flicks with a touch of horror, you will probably enjoy it, otherwise, you may loose attention as the film doesn't provide much in the way of an encompassing environment

I liked this movie, it was very good. I just think they could have done a better job with the graphics and sounds from the plant monsters.
