The best season of The Walking Dead

The opening episode of this season of The Walking Dead is the best episode in the history of the series. Although the plot is dragged out over several "who cares?" episodes, just as was done in the previous four seasons, Beth's confinement with crazy cops in Atlanta, the butchering of the cannibals at the church, the arrival in Alexandria and Bob's leg getting roasted like a prime rib are all amazing plot points that make you keep watching. Keep the fast forward button ready to skip through the "character building moments" that are tacked on - no one is watching this show to see two gay guys kiss or to feel sorry for Noah, they are watching to see zombies and humans get hacked up. Most annoying character? The priest / Father What's-His-Name that can only seem to offer the emotion of "wetting himself with fear". I hope season 6 shows this tear-streaked buffoon getting chomped in a gory zombie buffet.

I'm an unabashed lover of zombies in movies & TV. Until Walking Dead, most relied solely on the violence & horror in 2 hour bursts. WD however, while giving us the horror of the monsters in question, shows the humanity lost and struggles of civilization lost, by the survivors. While questions remained after show runner Frank Darabount "left" the series, those questions are answered continuosly ever since: WD lost a great one in Frank, but those left in charge can still offer compelling storylines with only a slight loss of voice. WD S5 isn't the best of the seasons, but still delivers solid fun, scares, and drama with no signs the series is "dying". A worthy addition to the franchise and your collection. It is, however, the first in the previous 3 sets that I didn't feel the special edition "collector statue/ disc case" was warranted.

    "Dead" continues its enthralling course

The fifth season of Walking Dead continues to introduce new and quite different aspects of the concept - not just regurgitating a gory story line. This time, there's an idyllic community that thinks they're safe - until Rick and crew arrive and prove to them forcefully that they're not safe, and not very idyllic, either. And for the first time since season 1, we see Morgan. Remember him? It looks like he may play a major role in the last season, whenever that comes. Again, the DVD edition seems technically better than the Blu-Ray edition.

The only reason I gave this four stars was because there were only 16 episodes. I was hoping for twenty or more. Otherwise it was a super great season. Sad in a couple of shows. I love this show and it keeps getting better, but it does make me sad because it shows how bad people are and how bad they can and will be if something like this really does happen. It shows that the living are really worse than the dead. What is the point in surviving if we lose our humanity by doing horrible things to others just to take the little they have.

I've grown a fan of the Best Buy limited packaging editions for movies and TV shows. This lenticular package for the 5th Season of The Walking Dead outdoes them all. It's magnificent. I know that viewing the series on BluRay may seem outdated in a digital world, but the episodes in this package look pristine on HD. As for the story, it stumbles half way through, but is worth seeing it completely.

The best show on TV on blu ray

The Walking Dead is arguably the best show on TV right now. In terms of special features, there are a few behind the scenes featurettes and show commentaries. The features aren't robust, so if you're more interested in just the show you may want to wait for it to appear on Netflix. The digital transfer is also very solid, so you can see plenty of zombie action in great hi-def

The Walking Dead: Season 5 blu ray

As far as the series goes, including season 5, it's worth the purchase. As far as the blu ray transfer, it's good but I wouldn't consider it excellent. The sound quality is very good and the extras it comes with is great, but I always look at graininess, and it shows a little in certain areas--but overall, it's worth the purchase.

This fifth season of The Walking Dead shows why the series continues to draw impressive ratings. It gives the fans what they want and isn't afraid to explore different types of storylines and let things play out at a measured pace. The picture and sound are great, and there are more bonus features included than are generally found on most TV DVD/Blu-Ray sets.

Season five picks up with our group of survivors reunited by fate, with the now morally absent Rick Grimes, trapped in the clutches of the insidious mystery of Terminus. Some of the best moments so far, Rick Grimes judge jury and executioner? Saying the hard goodbye to some, meeting some new, the hard road and maybe just maybe a home, Watch it.

I love the show, I do have one negative about 5 discs, why? Could've all fit on 2 maybe even one disc this patronizing us to make us feel like we're getting more for our money is really nothing but a pain for those of us who know better! But I do love the digital additions and have since resold the discs!

So zombie killing is now a pretty casual ordeal, walk up and stick 'em in the head with whatever. I'd still like to see someone do the 3 stooges two fingers to the eyes to dispatch a zombie. Better yet, have the zombie block it 3 stooges style! I wonder how many more seasons Rick & company can wander around......

Have been a TWD fan for a while and it was great revisiting this season. You will see the transition of Rick and how he deals with those who try to harm his family. Must have for any true TWD fan and their collection.

I love the walking dead and can't get enough, however, I gave it 4 stars because every blueray set we have purchased for the walking dead (all 5 seasons) has the same problem, the audio is off from the picture half the time. So you end up feeling like your watching a badly dubbed Kung fu movie.

Season 5 of the walking dead continues the story of our group of survivors. If you are a fan you know the story, you know the characters. This season continues their struggle to survive in a world gone crazy. It is not always the obvious monsters you have to look out for.

My wife loves this show. I like it too, but not as much as her (I prefer movies to series). That said, I think anyone that enjoys the zombie genre will like this series (especially if you like the Romero movies - a.k.a. slow zombies). I thought Season 5 was better than 4.

I know it's a ridiculous plot at this point after 5 seasons with zombies still going strong. But I can't stop watching it. I know I will come to see reason soon given there are no new plot twists at this point.

Just when I thought this show might be in danger of getting stale, the writers find a way to make what was getting old new again. By maintaining a sharp focus on key characters, The Walking Dead has continued to hold my interest when other shows have lost it.

I always buy the season for the added additional features. In this season, there really aren't a lot of cool bonus features sadly, so I suggest using Netflix for the episodes and YouTube for the bonus features unless you are a collector like me!

The show is still one of the best in production value and stunts, but I think we are getting numbed to the shock factor of the show. Still a good buy if you are a fan of the show.

Well again the books are better but this season was good and looks like it is now picking up steam and some action, which is good for the ones who have read the books because the T.V. show's pace has been slow.
