I was looking for a decent flat screen Hi Def TV around 40" at a reasonable price. I wanted to stay around or under $300 and wasn't necessarily looking for a smart TV. I looked at a lot of TV's and was cruising Best Buy's website when I saw this Toshiba 40". It was regularly $329.99 but was on sale with a $80 discount making the sale price $249.99! Upon reading customer reviews one customer mentioned that Best Buy has a student discount program where you sign up and are sent student discount coupons to your email. He mentioned that at the time one of the coupons was for $50 off on Toshiba 40" TV's. I signed up, got the coupon and took it to the Best Buy in Orange California. I got the sale price of $249 and the additional $50 off from the SD coupon making my final purchase price $199.99!!! That's right $199.99 for a 40" Hi Def Flat Screen! With the money I saved I bought the 2yr Geek Squad Protection Warranty so I'm covered for the next couple of years. As for the TV itself, it's a great TV especially for the price I paid. The Hi Def is 1080P and looks awesome! The refresh rate is 60htz although I would prefer 120htz. I watch sports and 120htz is better but so far this TV is fine for watching games especially in Hi Def! The sound is pretty good although I Purchased a Boston Acoustics Sound Bar w/wireless sub to make it really sound like a much more expensive set. It is light, compact and fit into my entertainment center at an angle which works with my set up. It's not a 4K Ultra Hi Def TV but if you're looking for a quality 40" Hi Def TV I definitely recommend this TV! I also recommend signing up for the student discount program in order to get those discount coupons!! This deal might not be available again but you never know and I'm sure there will be other great deals like this one other TV's! Even if there was no additional discount I probably would have purchased this TV at the $249.99 price! FYI, the associates at the Best Buy in Orange were absolutely great and very professional!! Great job guys!!

This TV is awesome for the price, although I have used it for less than a month now I find it has everything I need. It's big enough for my living room and would be the perfect size bedroom tv for someone who really likes big tv's in the bedroom... The picture is clear & perfect for my needs. I am happy with my purchase.

The HDTV is well built and the backlight is even through the panel. The product feature only 2 HDMI ports. But you can read that off the description. Good gaming performance. USB on the HDTV does not support video. You can only view photos. Color needs a lot of tinkering before it looks closer to life like colors, it can be done though. Presets are so bad that Toshiba should probably reconsider using presets. If you are looking for a TV you'd use specifically for Gaming or Cinema ( Read not gonna have to change picture settings) you should buy this. If you want a TV that works perfectly when you fit it throw it in auto and enjoy. This is NOT for you.

This television has a great view from any angle and the sound quality matches the picture quality. It is also a best value for older debugged technology. An excellent tv for a larger room.

I got this TV on sale. For that sale price it was worth it, and is a decent enough 40" 1080p TV. I am very picky and usually use high-quality items (My Computer monitor cost twice as much as this TV for example). And despite that, I still think it was a good buy. and would do it again if needed. You do get what you pay for, and spending an extra 100-200 on top of the normal price will definitely get you a much better TV. But when on sale, this guy is great!

I purchased this TV as a replacement for a 12-year old LCD in a spare room. Being a bit of an A/V snob (my home theater center channel speaker alone is about 6x the cost of this TV), I was a bit worried about the picture quality but the sale price had me interested. I'm happy to say that I am completely content with this TV. After messing around with the video settings (all of the "features" like edge enhancement have been turned off), I'm very impressed with the picture quality. Color accuracy, again with some adjustments being made, is pretty good. Left/right panning is a little bit disorienting, but I imagine this is more to do with LCD technology than anything else - the TV has a 60hz refresh rate, so that could be part of it. The speakers get the job done but are nothing spectacular. The only real downside, which barely is one, is the fact that there are only 2 HDMI inputs. This can be easily solved with an HDMI splitter at a later date. I suppose another downside could be the lack of "Smart TV" features, but I have 2 different gaming consoles connected to this TV, so these take care of any streaming service needs I have. As a spare TV, I highly recommend this Toshiba. For someone looking at this as a primary use TV, this should definitely be on their shortlist against TVs of a similar price range.

This is a great TV if you're using it as an extra. I would not recommend it as a main TV as it only has two HDMI ports. If you have an HDMI receiver, then it doesn't matter much. It does come with a USB port which is great for the Chromecast or streaming devices. We don't game on this TV but we stream on it a lot. The picture quality is great, and so is the sound. I was a little disapointed that it doesn't have a clock/alarm on it, but that's not something that would prevent me from enjoying it. It was just something that my old TV spoiled me with. Over all, it's a great little TV for a great price! Toshiba is a long lasting brand that I truly trust.

This is a good non-smart TV. It doesn't have any bells or whistles, but it works great with a firestick and external atenna. Like all TVs, if you play around with the settings, you will get a decent picture. Perfect for a bedroom. I had this TV for 5 years and experienced my first issue today. Half of the screen had a dark shadow, but I reset the TV and the picture is fine. If you can catch this on a sale, it is a great extra TV to pair with a Firestick or whatever external device you use.

Purchased this TV after reading all the reviews and decided it was perfect in size,price and quality for our extra room in our cabin. The Picture quality is excellent and it is only used to watch BlueRay movies.Toshiba makes a good product and they delivered with this satisfied customer!

I bought this in 2015, back then it was rare to find a 40" TV for under $200. This combined with Roku was a really satisfying experience. Later I combined this with an apple TV. I have a personal preference about TVs which do not spend processing power to support their own platform (non-smart TVs). However, they do not make such TVs anymore. I have now moved upto a Samsung Q7D.

Good mid sized TV for my small apartment. The sound does feel distant but add it to a soundbar, then it is fine. Picture is great though!

Great TV . I purchased this TV mainly because of the price . I wasn't too particular with going for the best quality unit available because I had a small budget to work with. So far so good. The quality of the picture is outstanding and is noticeably a better quality picture than my LG TV that I've had for 6 years. The only question for me is longevity? I previously purchased a Toshiba a Digital camera that went dead after a few months. So far I'm very happy.

For under $300 (when on sale), this TV is a beautiful set for the money and delivers a good display of images in 1080p. It's lightweight and surprisingly really thin right out the box to your stand. Toshiba usually produces middle to upper tier quality electronic products. The only thing I wished this product had were more HDMI ports as it only has 2. Usually tv sets 40inches and up have at least 3 Hdmi ports. Overall, great product and recommend it to anyone looking for a TV. 4☆ out of 5.

This is the 2nd time I have purchased this product in under 3 years. The first time I bought it I thought it was too good to be true, a 40" 1080 for under $300?! I was not disappointed and it has been working great for the last 2 1/2 years. When our camper TV started experiencing issues, I again seen this same deal and knew it would be a great purchase. Once again, no regrets. For the price the picture and sound is great I would purchase again (and did!).

Our old tube TV in our bedroom was on its last leg, and I was tired of beating the side of it to make it work. We went to Best Buy to get another TV but saw this one and noticed the great price and clear picture. It was super easy to set up and is perfect for our bedroom. The sound is also great because the speakers are not on the back of the TV but under it in the front , so you can hear everything clearly. It's perfect for our space and needs!

Good value for the price with a brand name. The size is right for a bedroom setting. The picture quality is good. Sound is at right level. Footprint is a little bit bulky.

Purchased on sale for $250 which really made a difference. However, I will write this review for the standard price of the product. Great picture quality, and the LED really does a good job of keeping away the glare of my very nearby window. Attaching it to a stand was very easy and the instructions to hang it to a wall seem just as simple. For picture quality alone I've been very satisfied. However, the audio isn't stellar, and for certain (often deeper) pitches there is an ominous echo no matter what volume you keep the TV at. This can be bothersome, especially for somebody like myself who uses this without any sound system attached. It can get pretty good volumes though but this pitch issue can grow irritating over time. All in all, however, I've been satisfied. If you can find this TV on sale, it's well worth it and does a really good job of delivering perfect video quality. Even when watching Netflix and Hulu, the performance is always HD. If you want a TV that you can show off without a sound system, however, search elsewhere.

One of the better 40" leds out there especially for the price the only tvs that are in the price range are 32 inch or the junky brands. I have been happy with the TV since I plugged it in. The picture is flawless sound is loud and clear I have a roku and a blu ray player with smart so I didn't care of it was a smart TV or not. If you want a smart TV look elsewhere other than that perfect
