    Terrible service, damaged wall, out $250

    We were so excited when Geek Squad arrived to install our new television. Everything started out well - they sat us down and marked where we would like the television. Then they told us it would be loud and we might like to leave the room for a bit. Our setup was fairly simple - we already had the outlets on the wall - we just needed the TV unboxed and mounted. After they had the TV mounted, they had us come back to go through some of the setup. This is where things grew uncomfortable. One of the installers was glued to his phone. I had to ask the other to look away while he instructed me to input passwords for my various accounts. The installers were supposed to walk us through the features of the television. This part was done very quickly and not terribly well. For example, they asked if we wanted the camera installed. We asked what features the camera offered and they told us it was there to "spy on you." It turned out that the camera has multiple features, including adaptive brightness and contrast, auto-sleep when no one is in the room, and alerts if you are too close to the TV. They would not connect other devices as "it wasn't in the work order," which meant the promised cable management did not occur. The only cable connected was the power cable for the TV, which we later realized was forced under the mounting bracket instead of using the cable tie on the TV. We had a difficult time easing it out. This is not cable management. They took the TV box and we waited for them to return, assuming we had to sign paperwork. They were gone. They left a huge mess - drywall dust all over the mount, baseboards, and floor; fingerprints on the TV. We cleaned up and later finally sat down to realize the TV was too high. We went to pull out the TV mount to compare to the location of the outlet and realized they must have assumed the TV had the mount in the center because the TV was ten inches higher than we discussed. We also noticed multiple holes - they left 5 popped screws, two were left sticking out of the wall (the others still under the paint but bulging). They only installed 4 screws, ignoring the holes in the vertical bars which were meant to be used. The fact the mount was installed with fewer screws and on top of the outlet caused the drywall to bulge which pushed the outlets away from the wall. The mount itself was not even flush with the wall at all four corners due to being over the outlet plate. Furthermore, because the mount was on top of the outlet, the TV cannot be fully recessed - the plug will always be in the way. There was a "goodie bag" left on the couch; this contained panels that should have been installed on the back of the television, additional screws that should have been used on the mount, the metal feet for the television, the camera, and more - all tossed in the same oversized bag. We called to explain the issue and set up an appointment for another member of Geek Squad to come out to review the damage and determine what could be done. They sent out the same duo, who got defensive. The main guy told us we wanted it that high (we didn't, the second guy finally admitted to it), that the mount will never fully recess anyway (it will if there is nothing blocking it), that "this is what walls do" (strongly disagree), and that "you can just paint over the holes" (that's not how holes work). They decided to unmount the TV and wanted to mount it elsewhere; we requested they leave it off the wall until the damage could be reviewed. They left another mess and departed. Once the mount was down, we identified that they had drilled extra holes, clearly not measuring appropriately during the initial install. We contacted Best Buy again; at this time, they opened a claim with Sedgwick and told us we could call again to reschedule the mounting once the repairs were done. We spent a few weeks working with Sedgwick and various contractors to get quotes before we all agreed on one contractor to perform the repair. Sedgwick reimbursed at that amount and the wall was (mostly) repaired - there is still a bit of a bulge by the outlets, as there is a metal plate behind it that could not be better secured without a larger effort (and dollar amount). After the repairs were completed, we contacted Best Buy and explained that we no longer felt confident about proceeding with this install and would like the service reimbursed. We were then passed along to another department and had to explain again. We were told we would hear back within 24-48 hours. A week later I started again. The first customer support agent directed me to the Geek Squad contact page and disconnected. I went through all this again for a fourth time and heard the same thing - 24-48 hours for a callback. I finally received the callback today and the Geek Squad agent informed me that since a Sedgwick claim was opened, they no longer handled refunds; if I wanted the mounting service refunded, I needed to include that in my Sedgwick claim. I explained that Sedgwick only handles the damage repairs and that we were told to work with Best Buy after the repairs were complete. He told me he could do nothing at this point. I explained that the Sedgwick claim had been closed at the cost of repairs and he just apologized. Absolutely the worst $250 I have ever spent, simply for the pleasure of spending 2 months going between Geek Squad, Best Buy, Sedgwick, and various drywall contractors to end up back where I started but with a slightly worse wall. I am also unable to return the mount as it is used and without a box (as they Geek Squad agents took the box with them).

    Melvin and another gentleman came to my home to hang my television on the wall they were friendly courteous and very accommodating. I had purchased a braket for the wall but it wasn’t quite wide enough and luckily they had one for me.

    I bought a new television and needed help with mounting to an existing mount. It turns out it was a great idea to have help because my previous Television mount was getting ready to crack the rest of the wall causing the mount to fall from the wall. Geek Squa was awesome and helpful there work comes highly recommended.

    I can’t say enough positive things about the 2 fellows who installed my TV…. They called when they were on the way, were in time, were efficient, were pleasant, cleaned up after themselves, returned the bracket that I purchased and didn’t end up needing for me, and texted me to confirm the return the next day. They were beyond 5 stars!!

    Installation of my 55” new tv on the wall and removing the old one from the tower was done in a great way. Full setting was completed after I started asking for some of them as I was advised at the store.

    Best thing you can do is go with the squad. They do an excellent job and I haven’t ever had a problem within the 3 years my tv’s have been put up or taken down to move to another house.
