    Worst Vampire Movie Ever

As I expected, I was thoroughly unimpressed with this latest "vampire movie sensation." Granted, I wasn't exactly walking in with high hopes--I've already seen "Near Dark," which can be argued as the penultimate modern vampire movie. Though I will admit some of the movie trailers prior to the theatrical release made it look somewhat intriguing, the subsequent commercials about the DVD release made it look like a campy piece of teenage trash. And, well, it was. Before you argue with my point of view, I will admit right now that I did not devote my full attention to the film. I couldn't, because I don't think I would've survived the inevitable concussion I would've suffered when I collapsed from sheer boredom. The horrible dialogue alone was enough to make me cringe, not to mention the painfully slow story and snail-like pace of character development. However, I was actually pretty impressed with the level of character development in this movie, at least in comparison to the sheer lack thereof with most Hollywood movies, so that was a bit of a boon for the film. Aside from that, this was a movie about awkward teenagers being awkward. *GASP* What really killed me, though, is that almost NOTHING HAPPENS throughout the entire movie. Let me break it down for you: girl moves to new town; new town is boring; girl meets cute boy at new school; boy is vampire and wants to eat girl; girl wants to hug and cuddle boy who happens to be vampire; boy decides not to eat girl; boy and girl fall in love; other vampires try to kill/eat new girl; other vampires fail. Aside from the few action scenes scattered throughout, this film is a major snoozer. The only intriguing part is where you get to see what Edward looks like in the sun: sparkly. Though why this is is not explained, it's the only thing that really stuck with me. That, and how lame the whole "vampire venom" bit is. I mean, come on, vampires have "venom"? Um, no, sorry, that's called "saliva," because actual "venom" is stored in glands in the mouth. If it had been explained that a vampire's saliva is like venom, okay, fine, but no, vampires have "venom." LAME. I'm thinking the only way to actually like this movie is to not be a guy.

    don't waste your time...unless you're 12 yrs old

A love story. with vampires...ok passable. However this is so disappointing because it is just a movie for teenagers and doesn't explore the darkerst side of what a vampire is supposed to be, which in my opinion is blood thirsty, evil, and dark...to name a few characteristics. It has no gore, nothing really good in the plot and is totally disappointing. Nothing to make you squemish, nothing to make you turn your head, nothing but teenagers kissing. I could watch saturday morning cartoons and be more amused. It took all i could muster not to fall asleep during this and afterwards felt like i was the one who should have been paid to watch this. If you want a horror movie...STAY AWAY FROM THIS. If you want a GOOD love story then STAY AWAY FROM THIS because it doesn't even deliver in that category either. If you are 12 years old and easily amused with a movie that can't make up its mind on what genre to be in and falls WAY short of anything good, if you like bad acting, and Hollywood cuties that will purely make it soley based on their good looks and not on good acting, if you like stories that fall way short of your expectations(if you was expecting what i was expecting, which was good ol' gore and death since this is a "Vampire" movie), then i say watch it. Otherwise don't waste your time...unless someone pays YOU to watch it, then try to wonder why you just wasted over an hour and a half of your life.

If this movie was not already a book, I would have given it a MUCH better rating, even though it DID have quite a few flaws that didn't have anything to do with its straying from the book. One thing that REALLY Had trouble with in the film is how hard it is for people how have NOT read the book to understand Bella and Edward's love. In the film, it's portrayed as if they are two strangers that are completely infatuated with eachother. The book was much better, so if you plan on reading the book, DEFINITELY do it first before seeing it, so that it doesn't ruin it for you. However, if you don't plan on reading it at all, go ahead and see the film, you may enjoy it much more than the fans of the book. Also, I would only recommend this to the Hardcore Twilight Fans of the books, because for me, I HAVE to have it in my collection just because I'm such a fan of the books, regardless that I did not enjoy the film so much.

I have read the books... I have watched the movie... Never have I been so confused about how some company would spend money to publish or create something this terrible. I appreciate romance novels and vampire novels. I watch all genres on movies, from the chick-flick 'Failure to Launch' to ' hardcore action movies like 'Shottas.' But these books and this movie fit nowhere in our society. They don't make you think, they aren't funny, they aren't heart warming. They are dry, boring, elementary, and the actors can't act. I feel that this movie is good for no one. For the people that think young teenage girls would like it, I say 'NAY!' to you, sir. Nobody in fact likes this franchise, they only see the sparkly, glittery, vampires and get sucked into a void that they cannot be released from.

I wrote a previous review under the DVD giving the film 3 stars, because I thought it had potential and I thought the second one would be better (New Moon). Also, I recently watched Blood and Chocolate, which was terrible. But, I think I understand now. These movies are for kids, they both should be rated PG and should've been done by Disney. These are vampire and werewolf films for children and young teens. This is the reason for me reducing my previous rating, they're misleading. These films should've been advertised as family or kids movies. Plus, the new film New Moon is really just these two films put together. If you're looking for something to sit and watch with your kids, I'd say yes. But, to any adult looking for a serious film, I DON'T recommend this!

This was almost as bad as Blood and Chocolate! I think this is a good kids movie. In fact, I watched it with my two daughters which are 10 and 13, they loved it. But, this review is for adults. I myself love a good vampire flick, but this movie is just a slap in the face to the vampire genre. The acting, make-up, and special effects were just terrible. It should've been rated 'G'. If you're looking for a good kids movie, I'd say yes. But to everyone else, I'd say NO! Don't waste your time!

I really don't see what the big hype is. My sister read all the books and convinced me to see this even though I had doubts to start with mainly because it was a romantic vampire movie. The storyline was okay, the plot was interesting on how and why they were vampires. Other than that, the movie sucked. It was too slow, too cheesy especially in the fight scenes. The sparkling was awkward and the acting was horrible. The only reason it sold so great and won so many awards was because of Eduardo, and his cult. If you want a good vampire movie, watch Underworld 1-3.

If you read the books then this movie sucks. There is so much more in the book than just the love story between Bella and Edward. In the movie there are verry main carectors that do not even get introduced. The acting in the movie was not that great ether. And the hole movie had a blue look to it. I understand that the place that they live was always cloudy but that dusn't mean that it has to always be blue and feel like such a depreased movie. The books did not make me feel depreased but the movie did.

Please do yourself a favor and pick up the books. I was dissapointed because the characters were nothing like I pictured them when I first read them. Special effects weren't all that special, acting was icky. GREAT book, iffy movie. :( P.S. would've rated "plot" higher, but they left out SO MANY things from the book!! Why didn't they just use the book as a script and film it word for word!?!

This movie have nothing new to offer. It's been done so many times. The acting was bad. The fight scence was bad. The effects and so called animation was bad. Specially when Edward was running and he was carrying Bella behind his back. And when he was climbing the threes. That was so dumb. And the spider monkey line?who wrote that? They just can't see pass Robert P. Otherwise they would realize that the movie is bad. Makes no sense.

Seriously? This movie was long and drawn out with overused and tired romance plots. The only problem is that it doesn't do it in any unique way. Oh great, the boyfriend is a vampire! Whoopie! Water down Ann Rice to satisfy the Harry Potter fans more please. While its great that this helps promote books, there is nothing unique about this. Just more pointless and overly long mooning between two people.

I saw this movie once and said "wow" another bad love story that's hyped up again. The acting was really bad the plot to me was just awful it should've been a straight to dvd movie. In short if your a fan of the main character and nothing else its great if not then its just terrible.

The books were great! But this movie just doesnt translate well. It turns what is an epic drama into just another teen movie. Sad. :( I hope they don't slaughter the sequels too and turn this great dark romance into another stereotypical teen money waster.

Don't waste your time. Bad filming including picture and sound. The makeup makes them all look like ghost. The only thing the move has going for it is the plot, which is not all the great. Winner of the Razzie bad movie of the year award in my book.

This movie is exactly what is wrong with Hollywood these days. Such bad acting. It's a wonder why Oscar winning movies make $5 million but movies that make $250 million will 99% of the time never win any respectable award
