Customers often highlight the easystore 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive's massive storage capacity, ease of setup, and excellent price. Many also appreciate its convenient USB 3.0 interface and quiet operation. The compact size is another frequently praised aspect. While some users wish for built-in encryption, the positive feedback on other features outweighs this concern.

It took me awhile to decide between the WD D10 black 8tb game ready and the Easystore 10tb, the esthetic on the D10 is really nice, I factored in the noise level, since the D10 is a 7200 rpm drive there is going to be distinct noise compared to 5400 rpm and extra 2 terabyte, in the end I went for the Easystore 10tb...I am pleased with the decision, comparing the file transfer speed with 7200 rpm drives in my NAS, there was no difference, I am averaging 100 MBps on this one when copying files through the local network, it only slows down when I am transferring file directly with the computer, it average 80MBps.. which is still fast, I did not experience the slow transfer that others have experience, all in all I am very happy, I have attached this to my Nvidia Shield pro (acting as my other Plex server in the living room) with some of my movie files, so far I have blu ray mkvs as well as dvd mkvs, I am down to 2 terabyte left, and it is also acting as back up for my NAS movie files, I might spring for another one of these, by the way, this is a really quiet drive. I would highly recommend it, and it only warms up a little bit so no concerned there..I enclosed snapshot of the file transfer speed, the 102 MB speed is from NAS via local network, while the 82MB transfer is from pc to drive.

I bought this drive to back up data from a 2 TB HDD that's starting to get bad clusters. I opted for the 10 TB size instead of the 8, because it has a faster sequential transfer rate. I've attached a benchmark of an empty drive connected to a Windows 10 laptop, showing a 208 MB/s sequential read speed. Random reads are much slower, less than 1 MB/s.
The bottom line is that it takes long time to access all of it. I've been running a WD diagnostic that checks for bad sectors, and after 18 hours it's still only 90% complete.
I don't know yet how reliable this drive will be. It seems to have a good heritage, and I'm hoping for the best. But, something as simple as careless shipping or knocking it over while it's powered on could be disastrous.
The drive is mostly quiet, but not silent like an SSD. Also, the top of the case gets warm. During the sector checking, I measured 106°F at the top of the case with an infrared thermometer, while the ambient temperature measured 68°F.
I've attached screen captures showing the disk's temperature increasing from 42 C to 47 C (107.6°F to 116.6°F) during the sector checking.

I have bought many WD external harddrives. I use them to store my movie/TV show videos to run on kodi. My 8tb WD My Book was getting full so I had to upgrade to 10tb. I use a Raspberry Pi to run kodi and it runs great. I prefer the EasyStore to the My Book. It seems to be a little faster. I now use the 8tb WD My Book to store my movies/TV shows to run on my plex server on my Nvidia Shield. As you can see, they do it all. I recommend all Wd products. I have not had an issue yet.

The install and transferring of data from my old external to this one was really easy. I am happy and satisfied with my purchase. The amount I paid for this much storage was also a real benefit.

Excellent value when you can get them on sale.
Have a bunch of these drive in various sizes from 8TB to 14TB.
These drives are surprisingly fast as too, well over 150MB/s transfers.

This easystore contains a WD100EMAZ-00WJTA0 drive. I have been doing a full media scan for 6 hours, 50% complete, no problems.
For those wondering why Windows only shows 9.09 TB, that is because how ALL drive manufactures rate their drives compared to how Windows see it. Drive manufactures use 1,000 bytes equals a kilobyte were Windows see 1,024 bytes as a kilobyte. At 10 tb, that adds up. check out my picture from Windows. Capacity is 10,000,829,247,488 (9.09 tb). you can see it is 10tb but by allotment, Windows calls it 9.09
This is not a Drive made for being a OS main drive but rather a storage drive. It is equal to a WD red drive but nominally runs 2 or 3 degrees Celsius warmer, not a concern. still runs cooler than my old mybook 2tb external drive.

I bought this for additional storage of my laptop. It works good. I had taken lots of picture so made lots of RAW files. It took not much time for copying the files. Speed is good. Also noise and heat is better than I expected.

internal or external this hard drive takes forever

I have tried both external and internal either way installing games takes way to long, not sure if I just got a bad one. Turning into an internal hard drive was also a pain needing to get sata adapter just for it to work since covering the pin would not work and even then I still had issues. I started gears tactics at 5:12pm and it's still allocating disk space. The best way I found to do it is just install on any other hard drive then move the folder onto the WD one. I will not be buying anymore WD hard drives after this one.

I know it is common for manufacturers to round up a bit to the next gigabyte but 9.09 TB should not round up to 10TB. Why don't they just tell you the truth and call it a 9 TB drive?

This is Best Buy's version of the WD 10 TB external hard drive and is often on sale for much less than you can find for the regular retail version. I do not believe there are any hardware differences. The drive is speed is pretty decent with the USB 3.0 interface however remember that this is a mechanical drive and will always be slower than solid state drives with flash memory. This drive is about huge storage space and very adequate speed.
This drive is simple to set up. A USB cable plugs into the drive and into your computer or other device. These have a power brick so plug that in and it will fire up, there is no on/off switch. Normally these drives remain powered on most of the time. The drive will spin down when not in use to save wear and tear on the unit. So far I have had no trouble with these drives and I have several in use 24/7.

I've been using "home" computers since 1983. I programmed mainframe computers in college (1963……). In that time I've had enough experience with "spinning disk" hard drives to know how fragile most were early on. Currently, I have up to 4 10TB WD drives on all my Macs - I was a commercial artist and professional soundtrack composer prior to retiring 12 years ago. I still do work for an occasional client and have around 10 Macs still in service (in 2 homes). Because I know how crucial it is to have a sufficient amount of backups (in all my years, I've only lost one project, and that one had been completed and was never needed again - fortunately) I've always gone the route of over-kill. In the last few years, all of my external drives have either been Seagate (WD) or G-Force. These WD Easystore drives have been most reliable, and have become increasingly more affordable over the years to the point that 4 of these 10TB drives cost slightly less than my very first 2MG drive in the '80s. Man, I'm old ;-) but also so much the wiser for having had all these experiences!

Excellent Large External Drive

Needed a large external drive for software backups. Bought this on sale for $179. I have 2 others (1.5 and 4 TB), and this works as the other. I like that they last (I had one over 4 years) and are reliable. Transfer 60 GB software backup daily. Internal hard drive backup was at about 200 MB/second using USB 3.1. Drive is quiet as well. I would (and probably will) buy more of these.

No issues with this external drive. Was able to consolidate all of my smaller external drives to this one and now have multiple copies of my data. I was also able to download and store all of my photos from the cloud and social media platforms to keep local backups of those.
Just a tip however to maximize it's speed since this has USB 3.0. A recent windows 10 update changed the default USB 3.0 drive policy to protect data if the drive is incorrectly disconnected from the PC to prevent data loss. This significantly reduces the transfer speed. You will want to switch the policy in your settings to restore the maximum transfer speed. Instructions to do this can be googled. After switching the policy you'll need to make sure and eject the drive properly before disconnecting to prevent potential data loss or corruption.

I've been looking for something other than my notebook to store 4K video from my drone. This works great and is quick and easy to use. I can use it in unison with my video editing app and keep all my videos stored separately from my notebook. My notebook needs to run quick and uses a lot of storage for architecture and plans. I'm happy now!

These 10 TB WD drives are solid, reliable and fast for Spiny drives. The drive inside is basically a WD Red 10 TB on the inside and it's a great value overall. These drives are solid overall. I use mine to archive 4k and video footage, great for archive and some backup.

So I bought this while it was on sale in late 2019 to provide our Xbox One with some much needed space for games. 500GB and even 1 TB just doesn't cut it for a gamer these days. Almost a year & a half later, it is still going strong and only about 45% full. I haven't seen any data corruption or lost game installs. The data transfer between the Xbox and the external drive went fairly quick with the USB 3.0 interface.
You do have to do a little bit of work to format it correctly for use with the Xbox. I am assuming possibly the same for a PS4/PS5. But when I connected this to my Windows PC when I got home, it was ready to go right out of the box.
Pros:
It has a lot of space (10 TB)
It doesn't take up a lot of space.
It is the same color as the Xbox.
Plug & play for Windows PC
Cons:
Does take a little work to prep for use on Xbox
It doesn't expand to 20 TB after a year of owning it.
None that I have been able to find so far.

Lately I've been doing a lot of personal photography and videography and storage space has been a concern with my 1TB internal hard drive. After purchasing this thing, I don't have to worry about that for a while. Plus, it's fairly compact and very affordable compared to a year ago.

I used this drive as a backup for my main PC. Run Acronis backup every night, with 10tb, I should have a good amount of backup. I also use a off site cloud backup as well just to be on the safe side.. I find this disk to be quick and quite. Hopefully it will last :)
