I purchased the WD My Passport external drive for My MacBook Pro laptop. It mounted without any problem on the desktop and works very well to store large files on and not clutter up my internal drive. I have had very good experiences with Western Digital drives in the past and this one continues to meet my uses and expectations. The size and portability compliments my laptop and makes it easy to take in the field.

The external hard drive's power source relies on the power source of your MacBook. Do not attempt to transfer files with a low battery.

Love it. Easy plug and play. Lots of storage, will last quite a while. Works with all my devices with no extra steps to make them communicate. Small and lightweight enough to travel with.

I have 2 of these, one for my 2011 iMac and one for a 2017 iMac (humble brag). Package comes with 2 cable to accommodate either setup, which I appreciated. I use these to back up the computers, and although the Mac hard drives are 1TB and the backup is 2TB, it fills up pretty quickly. Will probably spring for the 3TB or 4TB next time. Decently priced, too.

My WD Passport saved my MacBook. The MacBook uses flash storage so it fills quick with music and photos. The WB Passport gives my MacBook more storage than my PC. It is easy to use and small enough to skip in a pocket of my lap top bag.

It doesn't use an external power supply - it gets power from the USB connection. It comes with two cables: One is for traditional USB ports, and the other is for new USB-C ports in a Mac.

I had a couple of USB Drives lying around that were about 32 to 64 gigs. They all had important photos on them (hi-res) and they were all full. I have them on the drives and the computer, but for the sake of having everything in one place, I purchased this Passport. This version is already set up for use with a MAC, so there's no fooling around. It was plug in and start transferring pretty much. Small and compact and fits perfectly in my safe. Everything is on the MAC but after I lost 10 years worth of pictures when my PC hard drive failed a few years ago, I wasn't taking chances again.

Amazing amount of storage, and since it's designed for a MAC there is no fiddling around having to format. Plug it in, and it's ready to go. I also liked the price--very reasonable.

This is my second external drive I've purchased from WD and I will buy a third when the time comes. It's fast, easy to use and has a huge amount of storage space.

I purchased this HD for my wife's Apple G5 because the other two she has are full. I liked this drive because it has a small footprint also it doesn't need an external power source to power it. Once I plugged it in, her G5 saw it and away it went. I have not ever had an issue with a Western Digital HD for a MAC ever, they have always been solid. I did get this on sale which helped me make upy mind on the size.

I love the drive. Very fast with Thunderbolt connection. Very compact and quiet. I thought it was a deal for 2TB. I will buy again.
