Q: Can I buy these individually and use them without buying any other ring products?
A: You would need a ring base station. You would then be able to control the sensor with the ring app on your phone.

Q: What is the difference between 1st and 2nd Gen?
A: The 2nd gen are 30-40% smaller, giving you more mounting options. The batteries are also reported to last longer.

You can also use Ring Alarm accessories, including Flood & Freeze Sensors, Smoke & CO Listeners, and Panic Buttons. You will get all Ring Alarm features, including Shared and Guest Users, alerts and notifications, and linked devices. Furthermore, you can also enroll in professional monitoring with SOS, Duress code, and customized police response. A Ring Protect Pro subscription plan is required to enroll in professional monitoring.
