      Bought two, both have issues

I bought two of these boxes to hook up multiple components to an older tv with only 2 HDMI ports. I bought one initially which was working fine, and then a second one about a month later once I needed the additional ports. I even waited several weeks before trashing the receipts, to make sure everything seemed stable. Now, of course, the original box is non-functional. It has power, will switch inputs, but will not relay a signal from any of the 4 devices hooked to it. I did the usual testing - hooked the same components into TV, changed cables, etc - and determined it must be an issue with the box/output since everything else worked standalone. The second box is still functional, but I didn't realize there was a problem with it until I hooked up additional components. Ports 2 and 4 seem fine and work as expected, but either 1 and 3 are mislabeled or the wiring inside is crossed. Device hooked into port 1 gets a signal on 3, and vice versa. All in all, product seems very poorly made - despite Best Buy pushing it as superior over other brands they carry (I believe they now own Rocketfish). The price point makes this even worse. Similar devices are half the price on Amazon, and even if they work half as well, that would be a slight improvement.

Open and set up out of the box was good. Then you start to use the actual piece of caca and it doesn't work. First when you go to turn on your tv and it's hooked up to the switch you will always have to go from one input to the other so that it is able to read it. You will have this problem every time you turn on your tv. It should not be this bug ridden for the price. It works when it wants. You can try power up then power down. But that doesnt work. You can try and switch (lol) see what I did there) the HDMI connections to see if this fluke and or delay in noticing what is conecting to it will change the way it works. But it will not. It doesn't matter what you do with it. It will not work the correct way without you having to complain about the lag it has when you turn on your tv with your cable box and or with anything else that it is connected to. If you buy this expensive switch you will be wasting your time and money. Go with something else other than Rocket Fish. Because the name stays true to what it is. A fish..........it will swim away with your money and Rocket your anger and frustration to the next level. Good luck and have fun if you buy this PO1S.

I purchased this switch a coupe months ago and it was very easy to install and get to work. The auto switching capability is great, but you have to make sure that your device supports CEC or it will not switch automatically. I can even program it into my Harmony remote, which is great. The problem I have with this device, it that the picture will constantly go in and out. Sometimes I even get black boxes all over my screen. All devices are working perfectly fine without the switch installed. I upgraded my HDMI cables thinking that maybe the cables were the problem, but it did not work. So I gave up and took it out thinking it was a defective product. Last week I decided to purchase another one, thinking that this time it may work. I was wrong. As soon as I plugged it in, I got the exact same problem right out of the box. I feel like this is a manufacturer defect and will be returning it to the store. Will not buy another one. Too expensive for a product that does not work. Hopefully Best Buy will start carrying a different brand HDMI switch.

We have only one port on TV hence had to look for a solution. Bought $40 switcher from electronic store, remote did not work properly, was returned the next day. Bought 3-port switcher cable from eforcity through Best Buy, this item accepted signal from Sony Blue Ray but did not accept Satellite TV (DirectTV), was in process to return this item to eforcity. While at Best Buy to pick up a battery charger bought this rocketfish in hopes this pricey unit would solve problem. Hooked everything up and unit accepts satellite TV but does not accept signal from Sony Blue Ray. Now I had two different switchers, each which would accept only one input. Found solution by plugging 3-port switcher cable into port on back of TV and now the TV has 3 ports. Satellite box was plugged into rocketfish port 1, then Rocketfish output was plugged into port 1 of eforcity cable, and Sony Blue Ray was plugged into port 2 of this cable bypassing the rocketfish and everything worked. I have no idea why eforcity cable now accepts satellite signal after routing it through the Rocketfish first. This was my $100 solution to plugging in just two devices into my 1-port TV. Oh, and by the way, the Rocketfish does not automatically switch between devices no matter how it is hooked up, you HAVE to use the remote to move between devices. This experiment was performed today 11-22-13 now we have to wait and see if any of this self-destructs as mentioned in some of the other reviews.

I have a tv with only 1 hdmi input, i did have a belkin switcher that worked great for about a year and stopped. so i figured i'd buy something a little more costly thinking it may last longer, big mistake. first of all I bought this in store, it was the only switcher they even had in the store. the salesman said that it did not auto switch the devices, which i thought kinda pricy for a device that doesn't.... my belkin did autoswitch and cost ½ as much. now the package insert says the devise does support auto switching as long as the connected devices support it. funny thing is i have the same devices connected as i did my belkin, the belkin auto switched and this does not. ok so at this point its just an inconvenience and I've decided i can deal with having to manually switch. I just got a wii u and i have it plugged into input 1 on the device. when i have the tv on and turn on my wii u, the game system starts and everything displays on the game pad, but nothing on the tv. to get the signal to the tv i have to manually change to a different input on the switch box and back to input 1, then it works. i have to do this every time. $80 for a device that doesn't even work properly, avoid it at your own cost.

1st one I got would not pass the signal through to the TV after about a week.. Disconnected switch and made sure all cables worked with no Switch in place and they did. All HDMI cables are Rocketfish brand. Returned and got a 2nd switch. 2nd switch 25% of the time will not pass the signal through from the direct TV box to the TV. I have to shut off everything off and try again that usually works. Also the sound will just randomly stop. If you switch to another input the sound usually will come back. Again I can unhook the switch and hook directly to the TV and I never have issues with the sound or picture and the cables I am using are Rocketfish cables bought from Best Buys daily deals. The cables are only 3' long if you were thinking I was trying to hook up with really long cables and the signal was losing strength. The auto detected hardly ever works as well. I should have returned the 2nd one as well but the tv I use it on I dont use very often and only has 1 HDMI input and this does beat unhooking cable all the time. Find a better product.

I have an older model Mitsubishi plasma tv from 2005 that has only HDMI slot. My old DVD was connected by component input to the TV. When we decided to upgrade our home theater and move the Mitsubishi to another room and get a new streaming DVD player, I was short one HDMI slot to connect both my DirectTV receiver and the new DVD player. I'm told newer model DVD players are no required to have options for component hookup. The Best Buy rep suggested this device that would increase the number of HDMI connections available. I purchased this and it works like it's supposed to! The Rocketfish does require plugging into an electrical outlet. Also, I needed an extra HDMI cable to connect from the TV's HDMI slot to the Rocketfish device. I then connected one HDMI cable from the Rocketfish to the DirecTV receiver and another HDMI cable plugged from the Rocketifsh into the DVD player. The Rocketfish comes with a remote to select the HDMI port input (four available), but I configured my Harmony 650 remote to automatically switch by activity used. Port one is for watching DirecTV and port two is for my streaming DVD player. This method was more expensive than I wanted to go, but it was easy and to set up it does allow for all HDMI connections with my devices.

I needed a switch because I have one HDMI input on my monitor and three devices I need to hook up and I was tired of unplugging and replugging in every time. This product is easy to set up and use. I like that with the one button on the top of the device I can turn on and off the device and switch between what I have hooked up to it. I don't use the remote much since I'm never more than an arms reach from my switch, but for the sake of the review I tried it out for a day and it's very responsive, so if you have the switch in your entertainment center and you're too far to get up and switch it every time, then there's that for you. Also, another major plus, is that it does NOT auto detect products, which is why I've had to return several other brands of switches. I really don't like auto switch because sometimes one of my devices (like my PS3) will turn on automatically to do an update and then the device will switch to that and I'll have to pause what I'm doing and switch it back. This device does NOT do that, which is a major plus for me.
