Works Great in the Garage!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV after returning a 50" Panasonic LCD that I bought the day before, it was my first LCD, and I wasn't impressed with the picture. I went back down the open box deals section, and got a killer of a deal on this item that was a store display. Like others have said, it's a no-frills TV with 2 HDMI ports and one component hook up, however the menu options are expansive. The picture on this set is outstanding (nice blacks and bright colors), and even with it being in a bright garage and the cell light at 10, it still shows up amazingly well. If you can find one of these TVs, but it! I calibrated the picture with these settings I found on avsforum.com; they also have settings for Blu Ray, but I don't need them because I am only running an Apple TV and DirecTV to this unit. Great Plasma TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture on this TV is very clear and there is no blurring in action scenes. I have watched football games and figure skating events where there is a lot of movement and the picture is amazing. I would recommend this TV if you just want a great TV to watch that is not considered a smart TV. It does have a few features that allow a PC to be hooked up to it to view photos, or listen to Pandora , etc. It was well worth the money I paid and I even saved 150.00 on it as the sale price was dropped even more on Cyber Monday. I will definitely do business with Best Buy again as I had a great experience with this purchase from the salesmen to the guys who delivered and set it up.

Beware of Samsung!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed with this TV, already has lines down the right side of picture. Not worth repairing compared to current prices. Have several Samsung TV's this one is a total letdown, I have LG TV's twice as old that still work perfect. Going back to LG, shouldve never ventured away

just buy it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, let's deal with the irrational hate dumped on Samsung's pentile matrix display technology. GET OVER IT geeks! Like the sensor in your digital camera, this display's pixel matrix is ordered RGBG, rather than the conventional RGB of most TVs. This accomplishes an important technical goal; the fabrication of a brighter display for less money. Of course, there is no free lunch. The reduced number of red and blue pixels results in lower resolution on the diagonals. In non-theoretical terms, this will impact viewers who spend their days gazing at saturated red text on a saturated blue background. These viewers will see jagged edges on the diagonal lines in the red letters. For everyone else, there is no practical disadvantage to this technology. Unless you WANT to pay double the price for a panel of the same size. As for what you don't get at this price point... Don't stress about the HDMI ports. Get a stereo receiver and plug your apple tv, your roku, your xbox, and whatever else into it. Seriously, I don't understand the whining about needing more ports. How many devices do you want to plug DIRECTLY into your tv? You don't get smart features. Whatever. Buy an Amazon gadget and get over it. The speakers suck. All on-board tv speakers suck. I defy you to find built-in speakers that can best an amplified set of boston acoustic speakers from the '90s. The speakers that came with your $3k 4k tv suck. out loud. Consider what's important in a tv. The picture. This one has great blacks, nearly the equal of my Panasonic tvs. The skin tones blow any LED set out of the water, and the reflection issue is a non-issue if you close your curtains. Buy this tv. You will love it.

Great TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Samsung plasma from a couple years ago. I liked that model but wanted to go from a 50" to a 60" (or bigger). I shopped around and did my research. This model doesn't have as many hdmi ports as my last one but I run my equipment through my home theater receiver so no big deal. If your main focus is picture quality go with plasma. I looked at a bunch of brands of both LED and plasma but just couldn't find an LED that could get as deep of a picture as I had fallen in love with (not yet anyway). This model dropped $100 which made it a no brainer for me. If you are into Blu-Ray's and gaming this TV will not disappoint! Keep in mind that this isn't a smart TV (not a priority for me). The people at Best Buy do a great job in helping you pick what's right fr you!

OK plasma, but not as good as Pioneer or Panasonic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I would have waited another month to purchase, would have saved $100. Although, I got more bestbuy rewards points, so I get a little back. The TV buzzes, and can be heard when volume is low and if the environment is quiet and you have excellent hearing. Very noticeable when right up close to the screen, my plasma 50"Panasonic and 42" Pioneer both don't make any noises. Wish the Samsung had more HDMI inputs/outputs like 3. Only has 2. Could have used a second component connection too, only has one. I don't like how the inputs are on the side. They should point down instead. Why did they get rid of swivel head HDMI cables. I only have one, and it annoys me, that the other connected cable sticks out the side where u can see it. I don't want to crimp it or have it flex, it may ruin it if I do. Its a thick cable similar to the monster brand cables. Screen seems more reflective of light then my other plasmas, causing a mirror image of your environment on the screen, very noticeable when a dark image is shown on screens, bright images, not so much, I suggest turning off lights and watching in the dark, or have a very dim light source to the side of tv, so that you can not see the reflection of it. Okay now for positives: I like the swivel stand so that you can turn the tv, but must have enough slack with longer connected cables to turn. I also like the media interface, where I plug and play an USD device, it has codecs for a the most common video formats, wmv, avi, mp4, and maybe others. Also like how the control options on the remote for the media content. Also, you can view your pictures. I love the 60" screen size and watching sports with 600hz refresh rate. Don't know why they are phasing out plasmas, I still believe they have superior picture quality, and picture is not compromised by viewing angle. All the non-plasmas do not come close to that 600hz refresh rate. I did some searching and found that Samsung has had a history of failing modules. These TVs should last 20 plus years. They make them so cheap now that the companies don't care about the quality or longevity, they want you to have to buy a new one in like 3 years. The downfall of that is that you lose the trust of the customer, and they steer towards a different brand. They only thing I hope for is that the Samsung keep up with my Panasonic, which I had for 5 years so far, zero problems, and my Pioneer 7 years, no problems so far. Im never buying a Sony Bravia HDTV again, barely lasted 5 years. I will stick with what Sony is known for, audio, never had any problems with their audio equipment. On the subject of audio, the Samsung has a pretty good surround and speakers. It throws me off, when im watching something, sounds like sounds are coming from else where, when its actually the tv.

Sold on Samsung......
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this 60'' inch Plasma to upgrade our 50'' Samsung which is now retired to the master bedroom. We wanted to go larger and after reading all the reviews were encouraged to go with a Plasma after learning Samsung has installed a screen sweep so burn spots are no longer a concern. I'm a novice, so if that didn't sound as technically correct as it should, hopefully another novice will understand. We also realized why Plasma's 600 Hz was the only way to go, compared to 120 or even 240Hz. Picture quality isn't compromised on screen with 600 Hz during speed scenes or fast moving objects, where as 120/240Hz tends to distort the picture causing wavy patterns. We can't say enough about the color quality or the picture crispness projected in the Plasma after having the opportunity to compare our 50'' Samsung to our new 60" Plasma, side by side. We still love our 50" and overall it's serviced us well; so well we wouldn't considered purchasing any other brand other than Samsung when we wanted to upgrade now. Seriously if anyone is on the fence, please give the Plasma a shot as you won't be disappointed. We appreciate all those who took the time to review this product, and from the reviews we felt confident in choosing the 60" Samsung Plasma. The price was excellent and Best Buy offers financing options that we always take advantage of and they stand behind their merchandise. I will add that we always purchase extended warranties these days because although technology has come along way, components are manufactured cheaply and pride of workmanship has fallen by the wayside, so we don't gamble on if or when an item may break down; we simply purchase the warranty. We've never had to take advantage of those warranties for the televisions, to date, but the Samsung French door refrigerator ice maker was another issue and just why we sold it with our last home and purchased a new Whirlpool 3-door when we purchased our new home. Hail the Samsung washer and dryer, as we love them also. We've had a long and fruitful relationship with Best Buy simply because we're treated so well; literally from the minute we enter BB's door to make our purchase until we close the door on the in-home deliverymen after they've set up and/or installed our new purchase(s), each experience has been better than the last and we so appreciate and thank all those who make our shopping/buying experience just a little less painful... :) I mean no one want's to part with their money but if you get great service and wonderful products to boot, it does make it so much easier! Thanks Best Buy sales rep's Taz and Daniel in Kennewick, WA and the same delivery guys who keep delivering our purchases. It's all good!

Q: QuestionAre Plasma TV's becoming obsolete?
Asked by BiggEZ.
- A:Answer My son, whom is a Tech says that yes, the Plasma TV's are going to be eliminated for many reasons, also that Plasma is the Best and Clearest big screen size TV in the market and while they are still available people should buy it before it goes away. (my son doesn't work for any retail store that sells them).

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between this 1080p and the vertical 1080p on another 60in samsung
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I'm sorry for the confusion, but this is actually the same spec. It just looks like Best Buy added the "vertical" tag to that one model, but it all means the same thing: these TVs can handle a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080. -MrSamsung

Q: QuestionWhat are box dimensions? They are not in the specifications.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The box dimensions are: 59" Length x 38" Height x 17" Width I hope that is helpful. I had to remove both back seats in my mini-van to fit this in, but it fit in easily by height. It was very close just removing the furthest back seat and I had plenty of room removing the second row.

Q: QuestionShould I buy Samsung still??I'm in the market for a new tv and right now I've narrowed it to this Samsung Plasma tv and a Vizio 60 inch led smart tv. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm leaning to getting the Vizio because of all the options not to mention the 4 hdmi, 2 USB etc... But I still cannot fully commit to the vizio I mean is Samsung worth going for even though it only has two hdmi ? So opinions and advice would be appreciated.
Asked by BigSooner.
- A:Answer Yes! I have 3 Samsung TVs, a Samsung refrigerator, a Samsung laptop, and a Samsung cell phone...this is mainly due to the fact that I've had nothing but great experiences with all Samsung products.

Q: QuestionInternet capable? Can I get internet through this TV? I am not very tech savvy but I know my brother-in-law watches Netflix and Hulu on his TV through a Blu Ray player. Cna this TV do that?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The TV itself is not internet enabled. However, it is capable of rendering any picture sent through HDMI. You'll need an external internet enabled device to receive the stream from the net and then pass the signal to the Samsung. Best wishes.

Q: QuestionIs there a connection for TV Ears?I am hard of hearing so I use TV EARS in the evening. Right now it is hooked up to an analog tv . This is a 50", 15 year old Toshiba. Is there a hook up on the back of the 5300 that would allow me to shut off the speaker audio and listen through the TV EARS and then switch back without too much trouble? I really depend on these headphones.
Asked by Lora.
- A:Answer Yes the required audio ports for TV Ears are available on this TV.

Q: Questionfuture repairs after plasma production stopsI am thinking about purchasing a Samsung plasma. What will happen if it needs repairs in the future if plasma is obsolete? I plan on getting a 5 year protection plan. I would like the tv to last longer. Will the parts needed to repair be old cast-off materials and why is production stopping?
Asked by Lora.
- A:Answer I'm not shure abought the stockpile of parts for these but my brother has a 50" that is 11yrs old and still looks great. I went with a 2yr plan, I don't think u will have any problems. There is an Eco setting from the factory, turn it off it holds back the color. With that off the color is stunning.
