Customers are saying
Customers value the excellent picture quality, with comments praising clear images and great picture production. However, DVD playback and Wi-Fi connectivity are sources of customer frustration, with some experiencing connection issues and difficulties playing DVDs. The Wi-Fi feature requires an additional purchase for functionality. Improvements in DVD playback and Wi-Fi accessibility would enhance the overall user experience.

I did purchase this Blu-Ray player refurbished and I am definitely pleased with it's performance. Clear images and smooth scrolling. The setup for the wireless was fairly simple. If you know how to setup your home wireless router, this is a breeze (although typing in encryption codes is hard on the remote). I had to purchase the LinkStick separately, but it was recognized without issue and considering the hours we've watched Netflix via the player, it's only dropped the connection a handful of times and for only seconds at most. The Netflix/Pandora/Vudu accessibility is very cool. You can also view images, movies on an external hard drive from it. For what I paid, this is an A+.

blu ray start up was a little slow out of the box. it is also a little louder than i thought it would be. set up is easy. found my internet and automatically downloaded latest update through wired lan. netflix and apps streamed flawlessly and fast. picture quality is A+ and i am using on a 720p. after the last download player seems less noisy and blu rays seem to load faster. for $89 w free shipping this is a no brainer unless you need wireless connection. it aready broke once, what are the chances it happens again.
on a side note, if people actually read about and understood what they are buying before they spent their money this player would have higher reviews. just sayin.

I like this br player for the most part. There are a couple features I really wish it had, and if it did I would give 5 stars. I would like to have a feature to browse and add to my que in netflix, right now all you can do is view things in your instant que and play them. I also wish that they would add the hulu plus app to the app store instead of only offering that app on 1 model. other than that I have not had any major issues.

I decided to enter the world of bluray after buying my 63 inch Samsung plasma TV, which is the center of my home entertainment center. It was time to leave reg DVD behind, especially since so many of my techie friends were into Bluray, and touting its superiority.
This player was very easy to set up, and along with it's many features, like Netflix, and excellent picture and sound, I highly recommend it. Its a good value!

WARNING: Need to purchase LAN adapter!

I purchased this blue ray player as a gift for my husband with a subscription to net flix. After we set it up we realized that WiFi ready really means that you have to purchase a LAN adapter to be able to connect to the WiFi. LAN adapters are $50-100 to purchase in addition! Sorry but that is false advertising. Maybe if I read into all of the small print 4 pages later, I would have seen that you do indeed need an adapter to connect. Maybe they should change the description of this product but I will be returning it regardless. What a pain in the a**

got three for family members over xmas. 2 of the 3 shipped fine but the third was broken when i got it and went back to the store to get a new one not a referbished one. it cost me an extra 50 buck which is not bad but wish they could have done something like get me another referbished one. checked with everybody and they like their players when they started working just double check on the shipping and that they dont rattle when you get them.

Player(C5500 BD) works well on dvds but the main reason I bought this was for Netflix access. This was direct wired but could not connect. The Samsung website trouble shooter advises this is a defect/repair issue and needs to be sent in...so this NEW player is going back to the STORE.. Obviously not happy

"Factory-Refurbished" = Inspected Twice!

I could care less about the reason for a "Factory-Refurbished" stamp, this player was delivered to my doorstep, under the estimated shipping time, unblemished and included all the accessories that come with the retail packaging..only my box was a dull brown shipping vessel. For some a red flag immediately flies when they see "Factory Refurbished" or "reconditioned".....me, well I have a fully functional, simple to install, TWICE INSPECTED Blu-Ray/DVD Internet Ready multimedia player. A succesful business model most certainly would NOT include any product that had more than one visit back to the factory for necessary improvements. The Samsung Group knows that, and measures are in place to insure the refurbished product is at peak working condition. I feel rewarded because it performs flawlessly since we fired it up X-mas Eve!
One point of contention is the akward interface setting up the Internet stream. Maybe it's unavoidable but typing set-up passwords and usernames from the remote was a slow adventure.
I would feel confident in recommending this!
A:AnswerI appreciate your interest in Samsung products.
The wireless connector that allows the unit to be Wi-Fi is not included with this model. It can be purchased separately at BestBuy.com. Look for the WIS09ABGN LinkStick, which will allow the player to connect wirelessly with your router or access point.

A:AnswerThe Blu-Ray players will work on both SD (Standard Definition) and HD (High Definition) televisions, and can be connected through various inputs, like composite, component or HDMI.

A:AnswerAs long as your Internet service comes from the outside into a router and then to the computer. That way the Internet goes to the router first and is not reliant on the computer for connection or power.
If the Internet connection goes directly to your computer, it would require the computer to be plugged in and powered up. For a quality flow of streaming video, make sure you have DSL, cable modem, or T1 for your Internet service.
Also helps if your router is running 802.11n. This is standard in all the newer models less than a year or so old. The previous versions of the wireless protocol were 802.11 a/b and g.
A:AnswerCurrently, the only wireless adapter that can be used with the appropriate Samsung TVs is the Samsung Linkstick WIS09ABGN. The reason for this is that all other usb wireless adapters require drivers to work. Since there is no feasible way to transfer and save hundreds of different drivers for each adapter on the TVs, Samsung created a USB wireless adapter that will work 100% of the time (plug-n-play), with out drivers.

A:AnswerYes, a USB memory flash drive can be connected to the USB port for MP3/JPEG/DivX/MKV and MP4 playback.
A USB device consuming more than 500mA also requires a separate power supply device for normal operation.

A:AnswerExcellent question! Flickr is a free photo-sharing service - the Flickr app simply provides you access to the site without the need for a computer. The Blockbuster app, on the other hand, is much like Netflix - it allows you to rent and download movies and TV shows for an additional fee.
