I Am Not a Hipster director Destin Daniel Cretton expands his 2008 short of the same name into a feature film depicting the struggles of a compassionate twentysomething contending with some unexpected life developments while working as a supervisor at a home for at-risk teens. Grace (Brie Larson) has dedicated her life to helping kids who have slipped through the cracks of the system. Committed to her job and in love with kindhearted co-worker Mason (John Gallagher Jr.), she's still struggling to make sense of her own troubled past when she learns that her life is about to change forever. Meanwhile, into the facility walks a young girl who's been constantly shifted between group homes due to dangerous behavior. Almost immediately, Grace forges a powerful connection with her new charge. Now if Grace can just open up to Mason the way she encourages her kids to open up to her, she may find a way to make peace with the future while still providing support to the kids who depend on her the most.~Jason Buchanan
If you like contained, character driven indie flicks, this is up your alley.
Great character piece, with great situations and performances. The Blu-ray itself looks great. For something as tight on budget as this was, was shot well. Overall a great film with extremely relatable characters. Also check out "i'm not a Hipster," by the same director.
Honestly this was one if my most favorite films if 2013. It's so well acted on all counts, especially from Brie Larson, who honestly I would have been delighted to see get some awards recognition. It's just such a heart warming film that takes you on such an emotional journey. I really loved it.
"Short Term 12" is a heartbreaking but uplifting, sad but funny, ultimately unforgettable film. The performances are amazing, especially from Brie Larson. One of the best films of 2013, and the Blu-ray is definitely worth a purchase if you're a fan or interested.
I read glowing reviews in advance, but Short Term 12 exceeded my expectations and the critical hype. Made my Top Ten of 2013. Also, this film is an exciting breakthrough role for Brie Larson. She carries this lead role like a veteran great.
I would recommend this to a friend

A fantastic movie with some fantastic actors. The cinematography is top notch and the blu-ray video/audio presentation is superb.
