Really good portable speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking into buying a wireless Bluetooth speaker for the longest time. I was particularly interested in the UE megaboom and was pretty sold because of its loudness and 360 sound. Upon further investigation I found the demo for this speaker in the store was pretty terrible, but after hooking my device to the speaker and testing its capabilities, I was immediately sold on this product. Much better quality than the megaboom and half the price. It has left and right capabilities if you buy two of them and it is reasonably priced. Battery lasts a long time. I always have the volume on the speaker turned all the way up so I have more power to control it with my phone/computer/tv, and it still lasts about as long as advertised. Very simple to use and has NFC capability although I have never used it. Mainly just Bluetooth and aux. For $150 I would rate this 5 stars. Definitely has been worth the money I spent on it. Some downsides -First down side is that the charging port is not a micro usb so you have to bring along a extra charger that is specific to the speaker if you are bringing it with you. -Mic for Bluetooth communication is worthless. Why you would want to use this to try and talk with someone through your speaker is probably the stupidest feature of the product. -No external app for the phone to better utilize the speaker. I really think Sony should beginning developing a user friendly app for their speakers like the UE products have. I think that would greatly improve the overall quality of their product.

Good purchase..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mids and highs are pretty good in this unit.. Bass is good. With some songs when the bass is high the unit vibrates. The tall construction in my opinion is not a really good one. The buttons are touch and the design and build is pretty good. Getting a battery backup of around 8 hours.

Great Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought the Bose Soundlink III. I was so disappointed I returned it the same day. I have a friend who owns the Bose Soundlink Mini and I liked its sound, at least with acoustic music, where bass is less pronounced. So, I thought I'd buy a Mini until I read reviews saying the Sony SRX-S55's sound is comparable quality but with more and better bass. Man, am I glad I went with the Sony. The reviews were spot on. It's a small package with big sound, very good bass, great clarity and separation, low distortion, and with excellent battery life. I recommend it.

A surprise hit for Sony
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife was looking for a bluetooth speaker with speakerphone capabilities for her craft room. My wife always says Bose are the best. I talked her into listening to other bluetooth speaker before buying. The BestBuy employee was there to demonstrate the various speakers using his iPhone. The Bose, Beats, JBL and the other speakers were good, but the clarity of Sony surprised us. We could hear instruments and voices more clearly than others. Sure a lot of other bluetooth speakers have bigger bass sound, but they are not as clear as this Sony SRSX55. We placed in the Sony SRSX55 in her craft room. It sound wonderful. I also found out that you can pair another Sony SRSX55 with ours to get 2 channel stereo sound. Now for the other features, the NFC ability had our Sony paired to her iPhone 6 in less than 10 seconds. The speakerphone was clear on both ends of the conversation. We love this speaker. I want one for my garage, hint hint to the wife. WARNING, don't listen to the demo modes that are proved by the speaker's manufactures. Bose and Beat sounded the best with their demos but when we used my wife's and the BestBuy employee iPhones, they sounded muffed and a little flat compared to their demos. Use your bluetooth or 3.5mm hook up to hear how your device will sound on the speakers. Plus Sony demo audio needs to be up dated. They won't sell speakers with that demo. Thank God for the BestBuy employee recommending to use bluetooth or 3.5mm plug.

Good bluetooth speaker at reduced price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this speaker at 40% cheaper from MSRP. So it's over a year old compared to some of the newer models. I've been listening to music from my iPhone 6 Plus over the past two days. Overall, I'm pleased with the quality of sound that it delivers ---in one word balanced. For a bluetooth speaker it performs well, room-filling, balanced brights and lows, and decent battery life (~6 hrs in my hands). It's reasonably portable (size and weight) in a backpack. The best part was the discounted price. Highly recommended.

Amazing Speaker
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing speaker. I listen to many genres of music and the quality and bass is great. The volume is also good, it's loud enough to carry into other rooms of the house. I looked in the BOSE speakers and honestly they don't compare to this Sony speaker. Bose speakers of this quality were more expensive around $400-$500. This product is worth every dollar. You won't be disappointed.

Sounds Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked around for a long time listening to all sorts of speakers, finally I found this one and a Bose, compared them in the store, and bought the Sony. The sound is phenomenal, the price was great, and it sounds great. Perfect for the patio or inside the house, it's a great buy.

The best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really every bit as good as the Bose speaker system. Both were on display at the store along with many others there we tried. Conected and played same music back and forth between the two and all others on display for demo. High and low volumes, symphony, rock, voice, instrument. This one is the same / better / indistinguishable from Bose. However this one is 1/2 the price. Very happy with quality of sound coming out, conectivity, and overall design and function. Big clear sound from little device. Really impressed! Worth every penny!

Q: Questionhow many watts is the 55How many watts is the 55
Asked by speckled.
- A:Answer The specs show 30 watts. This is a bi-amped system so the woofer has an amp and the stereo speakers are also on their own amps. That 30 watts is also what's called 'music power' I suspect, what the amp/speakers are capable of on loud transient passages. I would guess that each amp has in the neighborhood of 5 watts RMS which would total 30 watts music power (3x5=15 double that for music power on transients). Confused? It is a pretty loud little speaker. You also have to take distortion into account and these are clear watts so you can use more of those watts than most speakers are capable of before they distort. There are several ways to state watts so it really depends on what method the manufacturer uses to rate their product. The Sony SRS X55 is a great driver set for music with plenty of power in it.
