Q: Ok - I asked this question and got a weird answer instead of the actual answer... Is the refresh rate actually 60hz with a 120hz CMI or is it actually 120hz with a 120hz CMI? Please answer the question fully and not deceitfully.

A: No it is not the same. CMI means, clear motion index. This is from TCL themselves TCL Roku TV’s use a combination of advanced signal processing and back light scanning to enhance the native refresh rate of the LCD panel (60Hz or 60 frames per second) and present an effective refresh rate (what your eye sees) of 120Hz, or 120 frames per second. This is why you see different specs listed – but the result is a smooth, blur free image, perfect for fast moving sports or video games.

Beautiful, Best Entry-Level TV
So I did more then a bit of research when looking for the right TV, being my first HDTV I personally bought for myself. Quite obsessively/compulsively, in fact, including calling the company about how the included stand would handle carpet floors since I dont have a big wooden/metal stand for the whole thing to sit upon, and checking review sites like rtings to figure out input lag (excellent) if had issues like banding, etc. Making sure measurements were accurate, because of limited space in my living area. No color issues or loss at the corners. All the little details. I compared this to other brands in the range and televisions much above it as well, trying to figure out what the amount of money I was willing to risk on a unit. I would say that you are very likely not going to get a better all around value for a television from here to around 5-600 dollars. It's certainly the best value for a true 4K television as far as I can see. That being said, my value is for video games in a darker space with limited lighting (drapes covering window). In the dark, this television is beautiful and the colors, especially blue's, show through very well, which is why i make the value comment above. Most TV's above this have good visuals, but are better for super lit or bright rooms due to aformentioned window locations and perform poorly in the dark visually. This TV is made for dark spaces and does okay in lit areas. The only other flaw I would include would be viewing angles, which straight on this is great, but I could imagine in a larger room for a big event it wouldn't do super well. Additional points: I think the sound issues are a bit overstated. In my case which is optimal sitting distance, it sounds good. Maybe not for a big location. For your kid or your personal bedroom or other similar size spaces, this would do more then fine.There's an LED that stays on in rest mode, but you can turn it off (stays on during use and blinks however so unfortunate). The biggest plus for me, outside of that, is having backwards compatibility with older devices that dont use HDMI, and you can menu manually all the seperate inputs outside of your devices in such a way that it auto detects if you are using say, your N64 versus your new PS4. Or turn that off if you hate that. That's really appreciated. All in all, a great video game television that makes the most of your buck. I really hope this company keeps taking steps as they've done since being introduced a couple years back, as I'd be more then happy following this purchase to reup with them 8-10 years down the line. I really appreciated their efforts to answer my questions over the line, even when they had to actually connect their manufacturing branch to verify any and all specifications. I was annoying, but I needed to be. You only get your first HDTV once, and I honestly can't stop smiling when im around it playing Evil Within 2. Getting sick standing in line for black friday for this feeling makes it all the more worthwhile. Hope this helps you others that are on the fence brutally like me that spend sleepless nights clicking on sites finding the right thing for your circumstance.. Any other questions, feel free to comment and ill try to offer what I know this far. I'll include a picture from my phone (not the best, apologies) to show you what it looks like in terms of blues. BIG NEW POINT: The display at my Best Buy set it up as purple, which I think is its most boring color. I think it doesnt sell the product as well, and I respect the reason why given how many TV's behind it are on a wall showing blue as well as it gives it a fair shot to stand out. I think you should check out its red,blues and grays/blacks to get a feel for this unit. I hope Best Buy takes that into consideration.

Amazing TV, especially for the price
The picture quality of this TV is stunning, and the HDR is very nice once you tune the picture settings slightly. I've been using this TV with my Shield TV box at 4K to watch Netflix and other streaming services in 4K HDR, and been blown away. The Roku TV interface is great, and super fast, works well with my soundbar, the TV turns on in less than a second every time, and the software updates are automatic. The one thing I've noticed is some washed out colors at more extreme viewing angles, but this shouldn't really be an issue for most viewing situations.

49" TCL 4K TV w/ Roku
I've had the TV for 2 months and so far so good. It's the right size for the space I needed it, the picture is great, it has enough inputs for my devices, but the best thing has been built-in Roku which allows me to access content by installing apps. It makes it easy to access streaming services I already have, plus new services by simply installing their apps. Now I don't even have to attach a computer to stream content. Be aware that it comes with a Roku remote which has minimal functionality. There are no channel digit numbers for choosing a channel directly, only up-down buttons which means scrolling in numerical order. This is only an issue if you attach an antenna and watch over-the-air TV which I do from time to time. Apparently I'm supposed to install the Roku app on my phone which has more functionality, but I haven't done so yet. I haven't had the TV long enough to judge its reliability over time, and TCL is relatively new to the US so there's not enough data to know how long TCL TVs last, but since the price was so low, esp. for a TV w/ 4K, I decided to gamble. As I said, so far so good.
