One would think after 7 incarnations, Bandai/Namco would at least take advantage of next gen hardware and get it right, but Tekken 7 still falls short in almost every way. Full disclosure, I've never been a true Tekken fan. The combo system has never been very intuitive or newcomer friendly, so it never drew me in like other more satisfying fighting games have (Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, Injustice, to name a few favorite franchises). That said, I gave this one a shot for 2 reasons: 1) because Soul Calibur was a great fighting franchise that Namco took to an excellent level by part 5, and 2) because I had really hoped that by now they would have at least tried to invite new fans by opening up or improving the fight system, but it seems maybe you just have to be a die hard Tekken fan from the start to enjoy this. But that doesn't excuse the cause for my next major complaint: presentation. The graphics are honestly quite sub par, especially for such a current fighter. The characters lack definition and look pasted on the backgrounds, and have a very plastic look to them. There's nearly no dynamic lighting on them to help them truly feel like they are part of their environment. Overall it looks like poorly composited visual FX from an old movie. There's no room for that anymore when there are already several top notch titles out there (see top 3 series above, for example). Even last gen's Soul Calibur 5 looked better! The sound is ok, but it doesn't impress enough to make up for the weak graphics and gameplay, nor should it have to. Bottom line, it's just... not fun. I gave 1 star for effort, and 1 star for a healthy roster of fighters to choose from. Thankfully for once I bought the disc, a wise move in this case so I can sell it, and get back to Injustice 2 and Killer Instinct.

Tekken 7 features an amazing story mode that concludes the Mishima storyline for those who have been following the franchise. Even if this is your FIRST Tekken game you can purchase ALL of the past Tekken endings and a slew of other past content via in-game currency that you acquire by just playing the game. The customization options for each character are very expansive as it will be rare to come across 2 players with the same look. Personally, I am a former and soon to be again, tournament player for this game and for those who like to compete, the Tekken scene is great and there are numerous events all over America. Check out www.tekkenworldtour.com for more details. If you are not interested in competing, you will still find joy in this game via playing with your friends offline and/or online where you have the additional option of setting up your own 8 man, single/double elim tournaments online at your leisure and inviting who you wish to compete in it. So you really can't go wrong with this purchase. If you are just interested in playing the game by yourself, then: Practice and Arcade modes will be great for you. There is also the Treasure mode which is similar to Arcade but through playing and winning matches you will unlock new and exciting customization parts for your character of choice. So there is options for everyone here. So go out and buy this game now. Graphically it is amazing in terms of visuals and the music is top notch. I have this game for the Xbox One and Im sure that you will enjoy this game. My advice, don't be so quick to jump into online ranked matches, spend some time in practice mode, learn a character, get confident and then try playing other ppl. If you just don't care then have at it then lol!

As always, we now have another great Tekken game in TEKKEN 7. The graphics, being that it is the first Tekken game created for the new generation of consoles, are just simply drop dead gorgeous. The gameplay is as great and responsive as it always is. I like the variety of modes in the game finding that I spend most of my time in the new TREASURE BATTLE mode where you fight to win from the hundreds of items you can customize your fighters with. My only real trouble with the game is that one of my favorite characters (Lei Wu Long) is not in it. WHAT?? I know that fighters moves from every version of the game dating back to Tekken 2. I can only hope that they eventually add him in coming DLC. That means I have to spend more money though. As long though, as the quality stays up I will be happy to pay a little more $$ to extend the fun. IF you are a fan of the TEKKEN series this is a no-brainer to pick up, just be ready to shell more in the future either through getting the season pass or coming DLC to have it all.

Tekken recently made it's return to console's and pc with the release of Tekken 7. There are several game modes to keep player's coming back! The Mishima Saga gives the player a opportunity to experience moments that play a integral role to progress through what Heihachi, Kazuya, Kazumi and Akuma endured. Online gives the player a opportunity to test their skills against fellow player's in ranked match, player match or tournament. Offline gives the player a chance to wade through arcade mode, treasure mode (to earn money for customizing, etc), vs. battle against friend's or practice mode to hone your skills. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone that enjoys fighting games, that is a fan of the series or is curious about how the Mishima saga concludes.

It seems like they come out with a new, updated version of most video games very often. Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3. Tekken, Tekken 2, Tekken 3. Etc,, etc., etc. Usually each new version is just a small improvement on the previous version. Do you really need to buy every version if you already have a prior version? Well,if we are talking about Tekken 7, then the answer is a resounding YES. This is, by far, the best looking version of Tekken. The graphics are so much better than the previous version (Tekken 6) that it almost makes Tekken 6 look like Tekken 3 in comparison. And speaking of Tekken 6, you actaully get the full Tekken 6 game included (as a download) with your purchase of Tekken 7. You are literally getting 2 games for the price of one. Can't beat that.

I haven't played many fighter games but Tekken was very easy for a beginner to step in and start learning the controls. The story was very interesting and had some cool kinematic moments especially near the end of the game. Some of the fighting sequences were difficult to overcome but that was probably was due to being a beginner. Once I started learn the controls and how to block properly, was able to beat the certain fighter. The most fun for us was having friends over and fighting each other offline and seeing how long each person using the same character would last while switching players/characters. Combined with the online matchmaking and lots of customization options, there is some serious fun to be had playing this game.

As Tekken games go, it's not baaaad, per se. The fighting is a little clunkier (they removed the backwards roll), but the move lists are solid and the new characters are definitely play-worthy. I like the fact that you can practice while the online matches are loading. However, that may be all you end up doing as the loading times are ABYSMAL. If you don't choose rematch after every match, you may get in 3 fights every 30 mins; with most of that time being spent in the loading screen. For hardcore Tekken fans who happen to be playing on the same screen, it's great. For the casual gamer, your time/money would be better spent elsewhere

Tekken 7 is a great fighting game. It the gameplay is fluid and responsive and the graphics are probably the best I've ever seen for the genre. It has a cast of over 30 diverse characters so picking one that fits your style isn't a problem. It's also a game that's not too difficult to get into and win some, but you will have to put time in to get really good. Overall I'm having a great time with it in both it's online and offline modes.
