So far it's the best of the three.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not really a big fan of this series. I get it mainly because a friend of mine is gaga over action movies. But this one is the best so far. The blend of the younger generation of mercs along with the old farts makes it muchmore exciting to watch. But the real key to the movie is Ronda Rousey. I can't wait to see her in her own action features. She's hot and she kicks butt.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am sure most people saw Expendables 3 already, but the 4K version with Atmos sound is in 1 word, Awesome!! I just built a new theater with 7.2.4(7 channel surround / 2 Subs / 4 Height channels) Set up and using a 180" wide(195" diagonal) 2.37:1 curved screen with the JVS RS600 4K Projector

The weakest one, but still fun...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first two Expendables films were retro-80s cheesy goodness with some 80's stars (Stallone, Lundgren, etc) with mostly newer stars (Crews, Stathan, etc.) and even a few sports stars (Couture, Austin) with some good R-rated bliss, but this film killed it with the PG-13 rating and the overreliance on younger actors.I know to they cast them to A.) Pass it on to a new generation and B.) earn a younger audience in tandem of the PG-13 rating, but these films were for those who love action, grew up or loves 80s cinema and hard R's not the tweenage crowd. Of course it does have some really good action, has a big budget feel (Although I wish it was shot on film...) and has the best villain yet, in Mel Gibson's Stonebanks. Wow, just what a comeback film, but other than that, a fun rental. Of course the BluRay is excellent with a Dolby Atmos track (7.1 core so you can still get a terrific soundtrack on older equipment) that is demo worthy, sharp picture and some decent extras. There is a nearly one-hour making-of, some featurettes, an extended scene, a gag reel and most importantly an Unrated cut. Compared to previous discs, this is a rather lackluster package (where's the commentary?) but with great picture and sound, and some decent extras, along with the DVD (Theatrical only with this set and on its own) and the digital copy, its a must own, if mainly to show off your setup.

A retro blast from the 80s and 90s.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is not "Great Cinema"; but, it is a lot of fun. It is filled with gratuitous violence, and stunts that are unbelievable; but, could happen. Sly Stallone got together a great cast of action movie actors, and, a decent story about an arms dealer(played be Mel Gibson) who will sell to anyone. Gibson plays the guy who started the Expendables; then went his own way. The Expendables now have to stop or kill him. That is the basic story. Along the way, they blow up armored train, a prison, and an abandoned hotel(and, great explosions they are!). The "The Expendables" series are a throwback to the action movies of the 80s & 90s; and, include a lot of the actors who made them. It is clear that they are having fun making the movies; and, making fun of themselves; when Wesley Snipes' character is freed; the others ask why he was in prison. His answer is: "Tax evasion(a reference to his recent conviction)". I could go on; but, it could turn boring. Again, this is a fun movie; the actors had fun making it; and, it doesn't have any pretentions of being otherwise. On a more technical note, the Blu-ray is one of the first, if not the first, to use the new Dolby Atmos sound format. I don't have a Dolby Atmos capable receiver; but, it was handled as Dolby TruHD 7.1 by my system. I imagine that it will sound impressive when I finally upgrade to it.
