Classic film gets Blu-Ray it deserves.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not much to say about the film aside from it's a classic adaption of a classic literary work. The blu-ray comes highly recommended! The B&W 4:3 image is a great visual presentation of a caring restoration. No crazy post work like digital noise reduction or artificial sharpening, just a good crisp presentation of the film. The mono audio track is presented in lossless DTS-HD MA, and while of course it doesn't match up to surround sound films of recent years, it's a rather solid mono track for the era and has been preserved nicely here. Definitely worth a pickup or upgrade from DVD, and at a great price from BB!

A Great American Story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a harsh stark story that is very well-told and acted that depicted the unusually bleak times of the “Great Depression” of the 1930’s in America. It’s westward-ho on US Route 66 (which is still in existence today) to the promised “green” land of California and the wretched living conditions in the labor/farm camps. This story needs to be viewed again to remind us of our “sometimes stark heritage” and the hard-truth of the Great Depression.

A Classic not be redone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I remember watching this in school for history class. I'd remembered it for being a great film with great acting by Henry Fonda. A period piece with a purpose for storytelling in the highest regards! It was long overdue for being added to my movie collection and should be watched by all that's never seen it before.

In summary it us about the trials and tribulations if the people leaving the midwest known as the dust bowl after the great drought in the 1930’s.

Steinbeck classic adaptation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the troubling times of the Great Depression the Joad family, accompanied by their friend Reverend Jim, migrate from Oklahoma to California in the hopes of finding work in a vineyard and improving their financial condition. But the road is long and rough, and when they reach their destination things aren't quite what they expected.

Grapes of Wrath classic movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The B&W pictures quality was outstanding. I had trouble with the disc not being able to access the menu or the fast forward buttons. I exchanged for 2nd disc -same problems. I have a Sony Blu-ray player and it was fully updated. Kept the second disc, I suspect it is a mismatch for my equipment. The movie was fantastic quality for a 1940's B&W movie, no streaks, flutters or missing segments. I took off one star for disc not working. It worked fine if I just started the movie and watched in one sitting.
