Beautiful Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are a few movies that my first word to describe them is beautiful, and this is one of them. There are moments of humor and sadness, but the overwhelming impression it leaves on me is "beautiful". Made by some of the same people behind the film Chocolat, the two films are very similar in tone and subject matter and themes. The Hundred-Foot Journey is a film about appreciating food, the way food brings people together, community, loving the people around you, welcoming new people and experiences, and working towards your passion. There is a mysticism to the tone of the film that fills it with a sense of hopefulness and purpose, but it never reaches unbelievable heights as the film stays grounded in the sincerity of its characters as they work to overcome a variety of struggles.

Amazing Heartfelt Story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movies touches on the basic human factor and points out how our differences can be celebrated and join us as easily as divide us. The cast all deliver very believable and genuine performances that help to draw you into the story line early on. The imagery and cinematography are so rich and lush that you will either be reminded of the time you were in those areas, or crave going and seeing them in person if you have never traveled there. The piece-de-resistance is the fact the food, which is central to the story-line, makes you want to have an Indio-Franco dinner after watching.

Wonderful film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took my mom to see this film when it came out in the theater last year and was pleasantly surprised. Granted after seeing the ads for this film I thought it would be prefect to take my mom to but the downside is I would know how it ends. What I am pleased to say is even though you know how it ends, it does not fall victim to the typical cliche riddled films we typically get. While it is not a perfect film (I thought a few scenes ran a little too long), it is a wonderful, delightful film. The cast is excellent (Helen Mirran is perfect), the story is well done. This is the type of film I do like to see from time to time to pick my spirits up, it's just unfortunate that filmmakers can only come up with one this good every five years or more. So often this type of film is so poorly and lazily done that it's a breathe of fresh air when they get it right! I must offer ONE MAJOR WARNING: don't see it when your hungry!

Deliciously Entertaining
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A film full of tragedy, hate, love, romance and amazing cooking. After the death of their matriarch, an Indian family travels country to country trying to find a new place to call home. As they stumble their way to France they decide to open a new restaurant. However, their location is within a 100 feet of a prominent restaurant in which the owner does not want to have anything to do with the new family. watch as hate turns to love and see a divided family become united.

Excellent movie, good for all family!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice story line, excellent sense of humor, very compelling story. Loved the movie.. My wife and I watched it with our parents and with our children.. and we all enjoyed it.. So a good movie for all generations too. Additionally, nowadays most movies are spoiled by overly strong language, or inappropriate scenes or dialogs that typically do not add anything to the story line, but you don't really need, nor want, the younger members of the family to be exposed to. This one does not... so that is a big plus!!

Prepare to laugh and enjoy a great movie!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the joys of buying a blu ray is that you can enjoy all of the nuances of the film you are watching at your leisure. This film is both educational as well as entertaining. Cultural differences are used to create a sense of laughter and acceptance. Great performances by veteran actors and young alike. One of the reasons I bought this particular film was to use subtitles since much of the film involves foreign actors with accents and from time-to-time one can miss a subtle phrase which adds to the story.

A movie experience for the family.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my favorite movie of 2014. I saw it on a cruise and the experience was terrible, but I was highly intrigued about it and purchased it for myself. My wife enjoy the beautiful colors and funny story that plays out on the screen. Very humorous, but has some underlying tough subject matter like racism. Overall, if you are a fan of filmography, or a fan of the culinary arts; you will enjoy this touching story of two worlds coming together.
