Superb Acting based on Le Carré
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An Englishman, Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston), is working as the night manager of a Cairo hotel. He gets involved with a local woman who is the girlfriend of a local gangster. Through her relationship with the gangster she has acquired information linking illegal international arms sales with Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie), an English billionaire. She is soon found dead, murdered due to her having this information. Fearing for his own life, Pine flees, ending up working at a remote hotel in Switzerland. Four years pass, and then Roper visits the Swiss hotel. This rekindles Pines thirst for revenge, and he is enlisted by British Intelligence to spy on Roper. What follows is a very dangerous game of intrigue and deception

A captivating spy thriller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tom Hiddleston absolutely shines as Jonathan Pine, a night manager at various luxurious hotels around the world. Hugh Laurie nails his role as the Worst Man in the World. While somewhat updated for modern times from the John le Carre novel of the same name, and genderbending a character, it stays overall true. A romance, a spy thriller, and a study in human nature, it's a wonderful mini series that's sure to always have you at the edge of your seat.

Surprising gem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This may have been an adaptation of a John Le Carre' novel, but it was terrific with Tom Hiddleston as the British spy and Hugh Laurie as the international arms dealer. This was a quite different type of role for Hugh Laurie from Dr. Gregory House in the TV series House. Shows how good Hugh Laurie can be when given the chance. It was unfortunately a miniseries that ended too soon. Typical great example of the high level acting that can be seen on BBC.

Loki & House in a whole new light!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a friend as a present, but the DVD lists the full season plus extras. The TV episodes I've caught are fascinating, watching excellent actors become new characters than the ones I'm used to seeing them as. They're very believable in their new roles & the tension & menace feels real. Undercover cat & mouse at it's most dangerous! I may have hooked myself into watching the 2nd season by this purchase *g*

Much More Than "The Night Manager"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bond on an Impossible Mission! This miniseries has that kind of look and feel. This thrilling drama had just the right amount of suspense and action to keep me on the edge of my seat. Tom Hiddleston would be an excellent choice as the next James Bond. No matter, this miniseries stands tall on its own merits. I hope Mr. le Carre has more in store for Jonathan Pine. James make room for Jonathan.

Finest TV in years
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent leCarre novel adapted to screen perfectly. Thrilling story, perfectly acted, beautiful scenery. Top series with Northern Exposure, Thirtsomething, S—and the City, Six Feet Under, The Tunnel, and (yes) Downward Dog. For mystery fans, it is the BEST, with the Tunnel second.

Suspenseful! Sexy! Great acting!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fast paced and suspenseful - murder, intrigue, tastefully sexy scenes, gorgeous actors, and very suspenseful! I so wanted it to be a series on TV but "not gonna' happen". Right up there in great drama, along with some other great series, FX style. Not going to disappoint!
