Classic Action Flick gets Fantastic Blu-Ray
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before Michael Bay became a joke with his almost comedic style over substance films of the last decade or so, he was actually showing signs of being a pretty great action director. Which is why the Rock, for any faults it does have, is on just about anyones short list of greatest action flicks of the 1990's. The blu-ray should also be on anyone's shortlist for how good a 1990's catalogue title can look and sound. Supported with a high-bitrate encode, the film pops with resolution and depth in contrast and black levels. Even more than that, the lossless LPCM surround track will be like taking off tinfoil off your surround sound speakers when compared to the DVD. Definitely worth a pickup, especially since it's often at the right price.

Michael Bay's classic action movie...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Still one of my favorite movies and very happy to have it on Blu-ray! The LPCM 5.1 track 'rocks' my theater room. This was an early arrival to the format back in 2008 and it still looks and sounds good 14 years later.

Great action movie.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rock is about a group of soldiers who set up on Alcatraz Island and threaten to use a weapon of mass destruction on Fransisco unless the families of a group of fallen soldiers gets paid for their loss. Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage team up for an unlikely duo, a man who spent most of his life in prison without ever being charged with a crime and a government chemist, to prevent any civilian casualties. Even though the ending was extremely predictable, the movie is well worth watching.

Great Cast
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie, in my opinion, is a great action flick that has a stellar cast. The talent represented in just the main 3 is immense and then you have supporting actors that are excellent in their own right. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys action flicks and Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery.

Fun action flick

Very entertaining popcorn movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very entertaining popcorn movie and one of the best Bay-Bruckheimer collaborations. If you are looking for high art, this one isn't for you, but if you are looking to be entertained for an hour and a half, it is. As with all these types of movies you have to suspend disbelief for some of the plot points and some of the obvious problems with physics and geography, but that is easy enough given the fast-paced action.
