A: One thing radar detectors are competing against for newer cars are the safety sensors. Cars that emit collision avoidance, lane monitoring, stop monitoring and similar features can set off the K band on the radar detector. With that said, the R7 has a new firmware upgrade that incorporates a notch filter K Block Feature (24.194 – 24.205GHz) to improve detection of these safety systems. This will lessen the capability to notify you to true K band alerts, so you can enable/disable this feature, as needed.

A: Short answer, Yes. The R7 is fairly good at blocking out a wide range of RDD’s but IS detectable by SPECTRE RDD’s. When the R7 was tested by SPECTRE devices, the detections were inconsistent and had to be close in order to pick up the signal. The Escort Redline EX does block out All RDD’s.

Best radar detector on the market
The Uniden R7 has completely exceeded my expectations. The range on this radar detector is incredible, it picks up signals long before I even see where they’re coming from, giving me plenty of time to adjust. The directional arrows are a game-changer, letting me know exactly whether the signal is ahead, behind, or to the side. The customizable alerts and GPS lockouts make it smart and practical, cutting down on false alarms from things like automatic doors. The display is bright, clear, and easy to read even in direct sunlight, and the voice alerts are loud enough without being annoying. It also has speed camera and red-light camera alerts, which adds another layer of safety. Installation was simple, and the unit feels solid and well-built. Excellent radar detector!
The Uniden R7 has incredible range and very accurate alerts. The directional arrows are super helpful, and the GPS lockouts cut down on false alarms. It takes a bit of setup, but once tuned, it’s one of the best detectors I’ve used. Highly recommend for highway driving!
