Verbatim - Life Series 16x DVD-R Discs
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never used DVD-R discs before, so I don't know to compare them to other types or brands of DVD-R discs. The discs arrived on time. Nothing was damaged and the discs work well.

Most Reliable Blank DVD I've Found
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using these DVDs for years with very few inadvertant "coasters" being produced along the way. At first I tried different brands, but these Verbatim DVD-R disks were the ones that gave me the least headaches. They work wonderfully for achiving photos, music or any one files you want to preserve. I backed up all my old (VHS) home videos of the kids with these disks giving me no problems.

They Work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't sure if such a lower priced item would work well. I have used blank DVDs in the past that became drink coasters. I have used a dozen of these so far and they work without a hitch.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Verbatim discs were priced right and they work just as they're supposed to - discs I burn on my PC work fine on my other hardware. Not much more to say.

Q: QuestionHow do you get a full length movie onto a disc? 120 minutes is not enough? What do I need to do? Thank you.
Asked by Dan.
- A:Answer The amount of time is dependent on the MPG2 or MPG4 video capture compression ratio. The compression ratio is controlled by the software for the video capture device/recorder. An average compression of 9.7 Mbit/s will give 60 minutes on a 4.7 Gb disc. If the average compression is lowered to 2.5 Mbit/s it will give 240 minutes on a 4.7 Gb disc. The higher the compression the better the video quality.

Q: Questionwhat is the diff between r+ and R- ?
Asked by h.
- A:Answer DVD-R (pronounced "DVD dash R") and DVD+R (pronounced "DVD plus R") are nearly identical formats. The discs look the same and are both supported by most DVD-ROM drives and DVD burners. The only difference between the formats is the way they determine the location of the laser beam on the disc. I personally recommend DVD-R.

Q: QuestionCan I record just audio music on these?
Asked by Marina.
- A:Answer DVD-R cannot be used to create a music disc for playback using a CD player. A CD-R disc must be used to create a music disc.

Q: QuestionWill this disk fit my mini camcorder which takes a small disk.sony handycam
Asked by Steve.
- A:Answer No, this will not work for you. These are full size DVD-R discs, which are 12cm wide. What you are looking for is a Mini DVD-R, which is 8cm in width. Depending on your cameras capabilities the record time is 20 minutes HQ, 30 minutes SP and 60 minutes for LP setting. There are also double sided discs which would double these times. Unfortunately BB does not appear to carry either of these any longer as I saw them as a sold out clearance item. They are still available though on other sites if you search for 8cm DVD-R in your browser. Hope this helps!

Q: QuestionIf each disc is capable of storing up to 4.7 GB of video information at 16x speed; does this mean that if I am copying from a disc that has 7.726 GB of video information that was recorded at 8x speed - would it fit in the Verbatim 4.7GB disc?
Asked by Just4knowing.
- A:Answer No - the speed is only an indication of how fast you can potentially write to the disc. (Sometimes, depending on your hardware, you get better results if you burn the disc at a slower speed.) If you want to fit 7.726 GB of video onto a 4.7 GB disc, you'll have to use some other application (like Nero Recode) to reduce the size. This usually works well, and most people won't notice the slight loss in quality.

Q: QuestionThese CDs. Can I store documents on them and are they recognizable by Windows 10? I am having trouble finding CDs that meet both of these requirements. If the Answer is no can you direct me to another product that would meet my requirements?
Asked by Jane.
- A:Answer The Life Series 16x DVD-R discs can be used as a data disc to store documents and photos. Must be used with a DVD writer and the writing software should be set to write a data disc. These discs are compatible with Windows 10/11 and Mac OS
