Vikings Still Strong But Showing Its Age
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Vikings show on History Channel has been excellent. I would highly, highly recommend it. Start at the beginning. This disc is the first half of the 4th season because History split the season into two halves separated by months, which is annoying. The show still is good, has intrigue, lighting, well made but starting to show its age in that some stories are played out yet they keep going back to them. What made the previous seasons so good was that whole new story lines or locations would come about, but they are stuck on some of the characters and stories now, and they really need to move onto some new people/stories/adventures. This seasons is still good, and I recommend watching it, but if they intend to go to a fifth season, they need some new material. The DVD disc works fine, and picture looks very good for DVD. Very convenient format for watching on your time, and unlike digital copies, you can lend it to your friends when you are done to get them into the show. That is how I got into it - a friend was praising it and lent me the first season on DVD, and I was hooked.

good sale price for a great show
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm buying a lot of TV shows for my personal library, usually waiting until they go on sale. I know I could be streaming most if not all of the shows I like, but I'm part of an older generation who liked to collect books, music and movies, and have them around. It may not be the best investment, or no investment at all, but if the price is right...VIKINGS is still a very good show in my opinion, even though it has lost some steam recently, hopefully the next season would come up with new developments. My rating has nothing to do with the show, it's for Best Buy having some great offers on entire seasons of many TV shows, past and present.

My King, Viking
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Often I wonder what would happen if we went back to a political structure more like what we see here in Season 4 of Vikings. Where disagreements could be settled with the purity of a mallet piercing through the brain matter of your foe. Instead of long political discussions, we could have much more successful dialogues, like ripping a man's arms off if we disagree with them and then taking their land and property. Those were simpler times; dare I even say better times. Vote Ragnar 2020

Great series
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this series. Very well acted and the storylines, based at least partly on actual events, are interesting and fast paced. It will make you want to learn more about Viking culture and the people upon which this series is based.

Draws you in
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say it's the Vikings. I didn't really get into it right away, but once I did I felt the need to catch up. Over time I was able to get all seasons leading to this 1st half of season 4. The series really draws you into the world of the vikings, it's a series I can watch more than once and look forward to the next season.

A continuation of the great season
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This volume 2 to the 4th season of Vikings is my favorite of the entire series. Ragnar goes in an unexpected direction in a spectacular way. The sons of Ragnar, especially his handicapped one by 2nd wife Aslaug, emerge as important characters. Lagertha again gains attention. There's plenty of violence and battle scenes, but there are also philosophical discussions about religions and gods and being a believer.

The best season yet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What an amazing journey for Ragnar. If you know history you know how he died and the show was quite accurate on that score. It was like The Passion of Ragnar because the torments never seemed to end. But his death brought two things--the second Viking Invasion of England, and the rise of Alfred from priest to Alfred the Great, the most powerful king England has yet seen. Can NOT wait for the next season.

The Reckoning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While a little disjointed, this season brings us the death of many favorite characters (or not) and introductions of new ones. With Ragnar and Ecbert gone, one can only guess where the storyline will take us next. I wanted so badly for that miscreant Ivar to bite the dust, but no such luck! And what about Floki? The series continues to keep this viewer intrigued.
