Using High Efficiency (HE) detergent in these washers is highly recommended as they are designed to be quick-dispersing and operate in low water conditions by producing less suds, requiring less detergent. Not using the recommended detergent can lead to additional rinse cycles and increased water usage.)
    • Steam Function: false (In washers, this feature may be employed before, during, or after the main wash cycle. Steam aids in stain removal, activating detergent, sanitizing, and softening wrinkles. In dryers, this feature can be used to remove wrinkles or quickly freshen clothing items.)
    • Washing Mechanism: Agitator (There are two washing mechanisms to choose from in today's washing machines: agitators or impellers. An agitator is a column located in the center of the washing tub. It may be finned or vaned, and works to clean clothes by rotating and rubbing against clothes to break down stains. An impeller is a low-profile cone at the bottom of the tub that uses fins, cones, or discs to create motion. This motion pushes clothes to rub against each other, versus against an agitator, to break down dirt.)
    • Agitator Type: Single-action (A single-action agitator typically rotates one way to circulate clothes throughout the washer. A dual-action agitator has two parts that rotate differently; the top rotates to push clothes down toward the bottom of the tub while the bottom continues to move clothes in a circular motion. Triple-action agitators work similarly, but add a third up-and-down motion to the dual rotation.)

Whirlpool Cabrio 4.3 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer: Give clothes a deep clean and gentle care with this Whirlpool top-loading washer. The large capacity fits more in a single load and makes it easy to wash bulky items like comforters.

Laundry Buying Guide

  • Adapts to your load: Adaptive Wash technology uses sensors to determine the fabric type and soil conditions of each load. Then it automatically adjusts up to 11 different washing motions to provide the right care and cleaning for your clothes.
  • Low-profile impeller provides thorough yet gentle cleaning: The impeller's seamless surface and unique vanes drive clothes from the outer rim to the center of the wash drum, where the deepest cleaning happens.
  • Large 4.3 cu. ft. capacity: Do more laundry in fewer loads. Wash 25 or more bath towels or a queen-sized comforter in a single load..
  • 12 wash cycles for customized cleaning: Lets you choose the perfect cycle for your load. Includes Normal, Heavy Duty, Quick Wash, Bulky Items, Casual, Deep Water Wash and more.
  • No more soaking outside the washer: Give your clothes time to soak before the wash cycle starts by simply selecting the Presoak option.
  • Deep Water Wash cycle: Helps eliminate the need for pretreating by helping to break down heavy soils.
  • Clean Washer cycle: Deep-fills the washer to clean areas that low-water systems don't typically reach.
  • Choose the right water temperature for your clothes: Five temperature settings help you ensure the water will never be too hot for your fabrics or too cold for your detergent to work properly.
  • Vibration control keeps your washer quiet: Gap dampers and springs minimize movement of the wash drum during the spin cycle, so your normal household activities won't be interrupted by noise.
  • Top-load design: Lets you load and unload from a standing position. Plus, you can easily add forgotten items to the load once it's started.
  • Smooth Wave stainless steel wash drum: Helps protect fabrics from fraying and snags.
  • Requires fill hose (not included): for standard hook-up upon delivery

Q: so many bad reviews,, is this washer truly a BAD BUY!?

A: Not a bad guy at all for the price. It has a super large capacity....bigger than that of a front loader. It runs much quieter than our old Samsung front loader. The spin is not quite as good but still very adequate.

Q: does this machine have a bleach and fabric softener dispensers?

A: Bleach, yes. Softener, no. For softener you have to choose a particular rinse cycle ("Rinse with softener, or 2 Rinses with softener") and the wait around for the rinse cycle to put the softener in.

Q: Why do people complain about wet clothes?

A: I've run two loads so far in my washer. A good size load of towels though not totally full or packed in on deep wash then a load of t-shirts, shorts and two pairs of jeans (probably 15 items). Both were supposed to have a high spun speed. Both cycles ended and it's obvious they had not spin. Clothes were dripping wet in the center of washer. This is what people are complaining about when they say wet clothes. And yes, I loaded it exactly as the directions said. After running the drain and spin cycle, they were properly spun out.

Q: How fast does thi swasher complete its wash cycle

A: It depends on how you set the controls. One rinse or two? It has a quick wash setting, a heavy load setting, and can be adjusted for light to heavy soil, so there are a lot of variables. But the plus is no matter how long it takes is that you can do a huge load all at once instead of having to split it and do two loads in a regular machine. And it saves on water and detergent.

Q: Can you open the lid once it starts filling?

A: only if you push the start/pause button

Q: If adding fabric softener, will the washer stop automatically so I can put softener in it?? If not, what is the time frames for when the rinse cycle stops so I can set a reminder to put in fabric softener??

A: Whirlpool Load HE Washer - WTW5000DW2 I loathe this washer! The fabric softener settings are there, but you must catch the moment it is ready for fabric softener! I am like most people and am not watching the machine for just the right moment to stop and add softener. This machine uses a minimal amount of water, even in the deep water cycles. I rinse everything twice since the clothes don’t feel clean at end of one rinse. All in all I miss my old washing machine where I could choose the water cycle and had a fabric dispenser. This machine demands that you sit next to it band catch just the right moment to stop and add the softener. Ridiculous considering that no one I know has the time and dedication to do this., Did I mention that I hate this washer?

Q: We have this washer and use the correct detergent and put the clothes in so as not to cover the middle. Clothes are still soaked after washing.

A: In the manual it says to use certain settings for certain loads. Maybe try 'High' on the spin setting. Also for the wash setting maybe try putting it on 'Heavy Duty' or ' Bedding'. I think this allows for heavier fabrics like jeans or towels, that do soak in a lot of water. I have not had a problem with items being soaked with water after the load is finished accept for one time and maybe one of my kids did a light load and changed the settings and I just assumed it was on the higher setting that I usually use, I'm not sure I didn't check, but the fix was just turning the wash setting to 'Spin' and it gave it that extra spin cycle to get rid of the extra water. My son pointed out to me that he forgot to add the fabric softener during a wash that he did and so when it finished washing he put the softener in the little pull out drawer and then set it to 'Rinse + Spin' and it worked perfect! Oh just one last thing, we fill the washer and don't worry about the middle. I just washed pillows and they were definitely in the middle, so I don't think you need to worry about that.

Q: with the deep water wash, what is the level of water in the whirlpool cabrio 4.3 cu. ft. top load washer

A: The “deep water “ setting doesn’t work 75 percent of the time. This is the worst washer we have ever had. I keep the setting on deep water and half of our clothes are still dry from not having enough water. Oh and the sensing function is truly annoying. We know how much water we need on our clothes. Small medium large extra large. Period.
