A: Using the MusicCast app, select the Server option and it will find your NAS. It will show your folders and you can navigate to your FLACs by album, track, etc.
Q: how big of a memory stick can you use ? why won't a hard drive work ?
A: I know that it will accept a 128 Gb memory stick. I don't know if it will accept input from an external hard drive, but provided you are using a USB 3 connector and the drive is externally powered I don't know why it wouldn't work. I have not tried this but it sounds like it should work, but if the manufacturer specifically says it won't work, I would go with what they say.
Q: can it airplay without needing the musiccast app ?
A: Sorry to be so long answering this. Just returned from across the country. Listening to internet radio as I write this. Input selection on MusicCast app includes an airplay option. The remote has buttons for usb opt aux Bluetooth and net. Looks like you need to get to net before getting to airplay. I’m not tech support but do have 45 yrs experience as engineer programmer and musician. I wouldn’t try to use it without MusicCast. This product contains a great DAC. Sounds very good! Best of luck
