Nostalgia
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have been building a small game room/arcade in basement, and decided we needed another game. I went on Best Buy's website and found this Arcade1Up - Mortal Kombat Legacy Arcade. I was excited to find it in stock for $100 cheaper than I had seen it on a couple other websites (at the time). This arcade machine is awesome! It is easy to put together, everything lines up, mine had no scratches or damage of any kind. It is small enough and light enough that it can easily be moved to a different location if I decide to rearrange the room. Turning it on is like turning on a switch for nostalgia. This arcade doesn't just play Mortal Kombat 2 as suggested by the cabinet art. This arcade has all three classic Mortal Kombat games, as well as Paper Boy, Rampage and quite a few other games I remember from my childhood. All with great graphics and awesome sounds. It makes my husband and I feel like we're back at a real arcade, enjoying the games of our youth, and our four kids and their friends enjoy playing this game just as much. This arcade machine comes with the riser, which in my opinion, is necessary for an adult to play these games comfortably without a chair.

Very Nostalgic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn't be more pleased with this. It's a ton of fun. I bought this for myself so I could relive the original MK experience. However, the household would much rather play rootbeer tapper. They are constantly trying to 1up each other, get it?, on the leaderboards. The system is great, you need to be a little handy to get it set up, but its not that bad. I would recommend you get the arcade 1up stool especially if you have the cabinet on a riser. I don't recommend trying to play this while standing, especially if you're on the taller side.

Possibly The Best One Yet
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To begin with, I have to note that BestBuy had this delivered to my doorstep 28 hours after clicking “buy.” Amazon “Prime” should take notes! I have several Arcade1Up machines from the very first ones to Star Wars, and now this. While all are good quality and I play them all the time, the Star Wars cabinet was a clear step up from the originals, and this continues that trend, All the parts are clearly labeled, all the slots and holes line up perfectly, and we had it assembled in about 45 minutes. The interface is extremely well done. Changing options is very straightforward, and the controls are clearly labeled on each start up screen. The controller hardware is all smooth and hardy, they will probably take a good beating, which is common for a fighting game. The emulation is perfect, and each game is a joy to play. As a bonus they reconfigured the controls for Defender from the previous version on Rampage, so you can actually control your ship, and they added a “simplified” control scheme more like the home console versions of Defender, showing that they really listened to feedback. The cabinet is about an inch shorter than the others, and since the speaker is housed in the marquee, it just forward a little bit, which means if you’re over 6’ you’ll have to bend over to play the games, but I really wasn’t bothered by that. It could be a problem if you play for hours, but most arcade games aren’t designed for that.

Mortal Combat 2 is a knockout!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cabinet brings me back to the good ole arcade days. It was purchased for Christmas and has been used a lot since. Arcade1up does a great job at bringing the arcade feel to your home. Besides having the original mortal combat games there a other classics like: Tapper, Gauntlet Rampage & Paper Boy to name a few. They all are great games to play and looks good to. We have a few different cabinets from arcade1up but this is one of my favs. With great graphics on the cabinet and light up marquee it really does look nice. The price was good and getting a lot of use out of it. 5 Stars!

Completely satisfied and thankful to own this
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have dreamed of owning a Mortal Kombat Machine since I was young, and Arcade1Up has made it possible. I am thankful this product exists. The assembly took me around an hour and a half. The instructions were well written, and everything was nicely labeled. No issues. Others that have reviewed this product on You Tube have talked about the angle of the screen, and the recessed control panel with the buttons and joysticks being an issue. I do wish the cabinet was taller... I am 5'10", and if I stand up to play, I'd have to bend over to be looking at the center of the screen. I sit at a bar stool when I play it. I can also understand the concern about the recessed control panel being uncomfortable on the hand, however, these two issues wouldn't affect my decision to purchase it. The game play, sound, look of the cabinet, controls and everything is great. I appreciate that it came with an anti-tip system. You have some peace of mind knowing it probably won't fall over when you have the ability to strap it onto a stud. I mainly purchased this cabinet for myself, and would have been happy paying the price for MK 1, 2, and UMK3, but the other games included are awesome, and make the machine fun for my wife and two kids to use also. If you are like me and want to relive your youth in the early 90s and experience Mortal Kombat on an arcade in your home, but don't want to break the bank with a dedicated coin-op cabinet, this item is for you. Go for it.

Mortal Kombat legacy arcade
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really love the idea of this arcade. Having flashbacks of playing these games as a kid and having my kids go at this is really quite fun. The graphics are just as good as I remember if not better and switching from one game to another is as simple as pressing a button. One drawback is at the cabinet is a little smaller than I expected and if you're 6 ft tall then the top of the screen falls slightly out of sight if you don't hunch slightly. Other than that, I am all thumbs!

Great improvment
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a lot better quality than the original Arcade1up releases, particulary the joystick/buttons and speakers. My only complaint is that the controls on Paperboy suck. They should have put in something like Robotron instead.

The kids enjoy playing it as do I, makes for a nice decorative piece as well. Really glad I purchased it, only took about an hour or so to put together.

Q: QuestionThis unit is rates ESRB 10+ but when I look up the ESRB ratings for Mortal Kombat games, they all show as 17+. I'm concerned this could be too much for my 11 year old. Does anyone know why the ESRB rating is different for this one? Is it ok for 10+?
Asked by Jen.
- A:Answer Mortal Kombat was controversial back in the 90s, Sega and Nintendo famously had a row about it, with Nintendo editing their version because they thought it was too violent. And they were ridiculed. By today's standards I don't think it still qualifies as 17+. It's more funny to kids today considering graphics are kind of antique. And 9 of the 12 games on here are way more tame. My wife will never be a fan of Mortal Kombat but she's not losing sleep with our 10 and 11 year old playing it. Check out video of it online if you want to see it before purchasing.

Q: QuestionI be able to added more games to the console?
Asked by Pablo.
- A:Answer Not out of the box. There are mod videos out there that will show you how to install raspberry pi with hundreds of games, however there is no Wi-Fi connection, or ports out of the box that come with it.

Q: QuestionDoes this take dollar bills or coins? If not, anyway to make it take money?
Asked by Gamegameganggang.
- A:Answer It doesn’t take any money, it’s just a board with the arcade design. Only way it would take money if you build a money/coin slot.

Q: QuestionWhat is the size breakdown of the Mortal Kombat game.
Asked by Ray.
- A:Answer This is not a full size arcade game....but it is large enough. Having a barstool, or chair, makes it more comfortable. Being 6 ft tall, makes playing this a little challenging while standing up.
