Best crop sensor DSLR on the market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want a full frame camera like the Canon 5d MKiii, but you don't want to break the bank, this is the next best thing. This is about as close to a full frame sensor that you can get without it actually being full frame. This camera, in my opinion, is a game changer. If you've mastered your EOS T series (or any beginner DSLR for that matter), and you're ready to graduate, this is THE best camera for the money. The 70D has the same image processor (DIGIC 5+) that is used in Canons higher end full frame DSLRs (EOS 6D, 5D MarkIII, 1D X), which gives this camera the ability to take amazing pictures. Seriously. I was blown away at the quality of images I got from this camera right out of the box. I went with the 18-135 kit lens. It's a versatile lens that takes crystal clear images. The selling point for me on this camera was the vari angle touchscreen LCD monitor. It allows me to see the shot at low or precarious angles where I might otherwise not know what's in frame until after I take the shot. Saves a lot of time getting a shot set up. Despite what you may have read, the duel pixel CMOS Auto Focus is flawless. It takes some time to get used to, but once you understand how to properly utilize it, it takes focus issues and makes them almost non existent. I won't say the system is perfect, but what autofocus system is? The 19 point AF system works instantaneously, and when set to Servo, it tracks effortlessly, which is perfect for video. The only issue with the autofocus system is when shooting video, if you're not using the right lens, you will hear the motor trying to focus the lens. Not an issue if you're overdubbing audio of any type, but definitely an issue if you're not. That being said, you can't hear a sound from the 18-135 lens while tracking, but the f1/8 50mm prime lens (for example) can't keep up. Of course, any incredibly expensive USM lens will not have this problem. There really is too much to review on this camera. It does soooo much. Someone tried to convince me to get a 6D instead of the 70D because the price difference was only $1000, but that was out of my budget, and if I'm going to buy a full frame, I'm going to buy a 5D. So, for the money, the 70D takes gorgeous pictures and is probably the best or one of the best cameras that one can buy before moving up to a full frame. I got the Canon 70D with the 18-135mm kit lens and the Canon EF 50mm f1/8 prime lens, and a two year full coverage warranty for a total of $1600. Honestly cannot beat that deal anywhere. Trust me, I tried to price match. Even the Amazon bundles couldn't compete. Best Buy really helped me make the right choice, and their staff was knowledgeable about the product.

A wonderful camera for anyone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Canon camera fan for many years, and this one certainly doesn't disappoint! It has 20+ MP Dual pixel sensor, DIGIC 5+ image processor, and ISO to 25,600. I shoot wildlife, birds, etc, so it has a fast 7fps and a silent shutter mode...very helpful! I also have the 7D, which is great, but I really enjoy the touch screen and WiFi on the 70D... The resulting photo images have beautiful color and crispness. I like the live view and use it in both cameras, but the fully articulated screen in the 70D makes a huge difference...LOVE my 70D!!!! So glad that I bought it!

Canon 70D
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all this is my first high end camera. That being said I can say that the first several hundred pictures I took were ok or bad. But as I got more experience they quality has improved considerably. So the problem was obviously user error but to make the improvements I have invested a lot of time and research into learning to tweak the settings in certain conditions and find the right shot. The camera is great for taken a rapid succession of photos, up to 7 per second, and stopping motion, 1/8000 of a second in good light, however it doesn't, for the price and complexity, seem like a good idea for your casual user. However if you are willing to invest the time and energy it has outstanding performance in high speed and auto focus. The low light isn't horrible but compared to some that boast great low light performance it isn't great. The stabilization system in the lens that comes with the camera may help but I haven't noticed a difference between it and the second lens I bought which doesn't have it. Still best to use a tripod for longer exposures. Hope this helps.

Great camera for semi to pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been shooting over 15yrs and wanted a nice backup camera and I picked this camera up and I am shocked by the quality of photos this camera takes. I do a lot of studio shoots and the camera works wonders, only downfall was it was not true to life when you transfer from camera to computer with my lighting but I figured it..

Great camera for anyone who loves taking pictures
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went from my Rebel T5i to this camera, there were a few adjustments I had to make due to this camera being a little different than the Rebel but overall I really love this camera, the picture quality is awesome!

A little long in years but a strong contender
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera it's easy to learn your way around it. The burst rate is very impressive, along with some weather sealing. A sturdy build quality and the autofocus is very impressive my t6s had some features that I wish this camera had. such as the view finder sensor that will show your settings or the picture you took when your eye is removed from the view finder that way your LCD screen isn't always on, also when your shooting multiple pictures at 7fps the live view just goes black until you let off the shutter button. I was tempted to go with the 80d but if I'm going to get towards the 2,000$ range with a camera I'm going to save and spend the extra money to go with a full frame like a 5dmk III this camera is getting a little long in the tooth but still just amazing i recommend it over the 80d UNLESS your more interested in video and using the new 18-135usm lens with power zoom adapter that can drastically improve the look of your film Happy shooting!

Amazing Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely LOVE my Canon 70D. I am an amatuer video/photo enthusiast who has wanted to buy an expensive camera for a long time. I am still yet to figure out all of the buttons but I really do think this camera is fantastic. The photos and videos are so crispy, clear and sharp. It is literally like you are looking through a clean window in every picture/video. There are sooo many options. I would recommend getting a lens included in your purchase, as a bundle, so you are getting your moneys worth. It is an expensive camera, but SOOO worth it if you love photography and video production. Everything you capture with this camera is literally magical.

Q: QuestionI have a canon Ti5 are the lenses interchangeable with D series?I have quite an investment in standard, zoom and wide angle lenses and wondering they would be compatible with the 70D
Asked by pitstop.
- A:Answer ABSOLUTELY! I was in the same boat- I just upgraded from an OLDER Rebel- The Rebel XT. NO issues. The 70D can use any EOS system lens, be it EF or EF-S. In fact the 'kit' lens on the 70D is still going to be of the EF-S line. I personally already had the following lens from my Rebel as I added them over the years: EFS 55-250 EF 50 F1.4 prime They work just fine with no worries. Just line up an EF-S to the 'white box' and the EF lesn to the 'red dot' when attaching to the camera.

Q: QuestionDoes this camera come with a built in microphone to record video. or do you have to purchase an external mike?
Asked by rusaxy.
- A:Answer I have taken several videos with this and can hear things very well on the video so it must have a built in microphone. However if you are making movies with it where you need each word said with absolute clarity at a distance from the camera I would suggest an external microphone
