I might be a bit old for this game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Alright, I'll admit it: I'm a pokemon fanatic! I usually go out and buy new pokemon games based off of the fact that it's a pokemon game. I'm ok with games like this that don't really follow the normal pokemon formula, but... This game is a bit odd to me. I'm not sure if the next few sentences count as spoilers, but just in case, I give you fair warning. I'm not realising major plot points, just random information. Pikachu... He sounds like a 40 year old man that has been smoking for at least 20 of those years... And that disturbs me. Especially when he says "pika pika". I wish I could say I got used to the voice as the game went on, but it just continued to be disturbing. I don't really like that we play this character Tim and he has his own voice and everything. It's not a deal breaker for me or anything, but I like playing the silent character and putting in my own dialog where his reactions are. The puzzles became very tedious after a while. The story pushed it through for the most part, but I found myself figuring out these mysteries way before the first piece of evidence was found. It was just too simple for me, until it got too complicated. During the last mystery, I tried desperately to look at an object that I knew I needed to, but it kept telling me that wasn't right. So I had to run around and collect all the other clues that lead to that item before it would let me look at it. Ultimately, though, I think the biggest disappointment was the ending. It didn't feel like an ending to me... Or a cliffhanger. It just felt like it stopped. And there is no after the credits game play! I was kind of hoping that I could explore the city on my own and talk to every, but no. It just playes the last scene, ran the credits, and sent me back to the last save point when I re-entered the game. I think someone closer to the age of 8 or 9 should play this game. They would probably get more enjoyment than I did. TL,DR, good game for younger crowd, pikachu sounds creepy.

Refreshing Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not sure what to expect given that Pikachu has a voice, I have to say that the developers did a fantastic job creating the story and the voice of Pikachu. I do not see Detective Pikachu as a replacement for the Pikachu I know and love, it is an alternative version of him. The story line is a little quick but it isn't so childish that as an adult I am put off by it. I highly recommend it, I have enjoyed every moment.

A great re-introduction to the world of Pokemon
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into buying this game with no real expectations. It seemed like an interesting addition to the Pokémon gaming franchise and it is now one of the best games I've played on my 3DS. This is a fairly simple game but extremely entertaining and fulfilling for die-hard fans of Pokémon and would also be a perfect launchpad for brand new fans of the series. The graphics are beautiful on the New Nintendo 2DS XL (this game ONLY plays in 2D anyways so it's not necessary to have a 3DS). While the game is extremely easy to advance through, it will provide a good 10-14 hours of game time start-to-finish and has fairly high replay potential due to the Pikachu amiibo adding additional content. If you are looking for a challenging game with a lot of action, this isn't the Pokémon game for you but if you are a long-time fan of the series in genera or a brand new fan altogether this is a really great addition to the 3DS gaming library.

A Pokemon Adventure for All
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Scooby-Doo meets Pokemon. That's Detective Pikachu. With simple cases that don't involve just a lot of guesswork by the older crowd, but is still thoroughly enjoyable by everyone, I can't think of a better description. The game is voiced quite well with some fun dialogue. No matter your take on the gruff-voiced Pikachu, the voice work on display here is solid. Nothing to knock you out of the park, but lots of wit and humor given a life. I don't want to make this a long review, so I'll actually end it off here by saying that Detective Pikachu deserves a 5-Star rating because it's, simply put, enjoyable. Much like the Kirby series, it's enjoyable, and it has a lot of heart. You can tell everyone involved enjoyed creating and localizing this title.

Fun and Good Story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Detective Pikachu is a point and click adventure. The story is pretty good and so are the graphics for a 3DS game. If you like Pokemon or point and click adventures like Sam and Max, then you'll probably like Detective Pikachu.

A bolt of brilliance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Detective Pikachu might be described as a spin-off, but the visual and narrative direction the game has taken is an incredibly welcome one that we would love to see again. The gameplay can be a little too easy and repetitive at times, and we were surprised to see the ending appear so abruptly, but everything is presented within a very solid package that will have kids and adults alike hooked. Dedicated fans of the series will likely get the most out of the experience, with the game’s art, storytelling, and genuinely likeable cast showing the world of Pokémon in a great new light, but we’d urge anyone interested to give this one a go. Our adventure only just ended but we’re missing our Pika-pal already. Review summary from: http://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/3ds/detective_pikachu

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game had some interesting puzzles that you had to solve. I had to wrap my brain around a few and try to play in different sessions to figure some out. This game had a nice ending, hope they make a sequel for some spoiler reasons. My honest opinion was I wish the game was a bit longer. But talking to pikachu made up for it. Next game they have to make a way to skip some quest dialogue. Since it's annoying going through certain cutscenes twice. Their should be an option, that after you see the cutscene once you can skip it the second time. But overall great game. Awaiting a hopeful sequel in the future.
