  • Key Specs
    • Recommended Room Size: 150 square feet (The recommended area size in which the product is designed to operate and produce optimal results, such as the desired heating or cooling. Generally, running a unit too big or too small for the space will result in ineffective operation and wasted energy.)
    • BTU Cooling Rating: 5000 british thermal units (The amount of BTUs (British Thermal Units) per hour the unit uses to cool the air, also known as cooling capacity. For best results, the capacity of the unit should be based on the size of the area it is intended to cool. For example, a 5,000 BTU capacity works optimally for a 150 square foot room. In general, an oversized unit will not effectively remove humidity, and an undersized unit will not cool the space efficiently.)

    • Auto Shut-Off: true (Feature automatically turns off the product.)
    • Energy Efficiency Ratio: 9.7 (The ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) at a given operating point. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER): 0 (The standard used to measure energy efficiency in window and room air conditioners by the Department of Energy (DOE) as of June of 2014. CEER measures the ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) in standby mode and while the unit is operating. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)

Q: will this work as a wall mount unit?

A: No, this model is not appropriate for a wall installation. The vents for this unit are on the sides and top of the unit and will not function properly installed in a sleeve through a wall. This unit is a window mount only.

Q: Is it easy to install and remove many times each summer?

A: It is lighter weight than most units so it is fairly easy to install and remove. I am 62 years old and have no problem lifting it.

Q: I have heard that these types of air conditioning systems can be expensive. Do you know how cost officient they are?

A: The estimated yearly operating cost for this unit is about $41. This charge can be more or less depending on how much you use your air conditioner and where you live. Your area may be above or below the average national cost for electricity. We recommend that you visit the government utility page for your city to get a better idea of the average per hour cost of a unit that drives at 4.8 amps and 515 Watts.

Q: What window dimensions are needed for this to fit

A: The window must be a minimum of 13" high. Minimum width must be 23" and maximum width is 36".

Q: General Product

A: There is a similar model with a digital panel (the more expensive of the two). The manual model has two dials. The top dial is a thermostat, the lower is a mode-selector/off switch.

Q: How many watts does it use?

A: This unit is 515 Watts.

Q: is this unit a energy saver

A: Unfortunately, no. This unit is not ENERGY STAR® Qualified.
