Great for simple tasks
|Posted .If you're looking for a computer that will let you play Minecraft, use Photoshop, and generally be an all-purpose computer, look elsewhere. However, if you want a very basic, minimal-distraction computer, this could be the one for you. I haven't had this one very long; I actually traded in a Windows-turned-Ubuntu laptop for this last night. That being said, so far I love it! I bought this to just do simple tasks like email, word processing, etc. I knew coming into it that I wasn't going to be able to do any of my design work; that's what I have my desktop and iPad for. But for a quick email, text, or some basic photo editing, this is a great little machine. You just have to know what you're getting into with the Chrome OS; it's very very basic and relies on the Chrome browser. There's no installing apps like a typical computer. If you're willing to sacrifice that, and are okay with finding a site that does what you need it to, this is great!

High speed lappie with excellent sound
|Posted .Aesthetically pleasant, the lappie is functionally on form. I wish it was a pentium or quad-core in proportion to the size. But no complaints though.

Perfect setup and size for light applications
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI wanted an inexpensive 14-inch laptop to replace (for most but not all uses) my bulky and heavy 15.6" Dell Windows laptop purchased in 2013. Originally I had planned to purchase a Windows laptop with SSD and no optical drive, but after some research I quickly learned that for $200 you can do much better with a Chromebook than a Windows system. (I also have another 15.6" Windows laptop for work, 11" Acer Chromebook, 10" Samsung Tab, Fire 8 HD, and of course the cell phone - and each of these devices has its niche.) Overall I am very pleased with this unit. Performance is good for everyday light use such as web browsing, and the size is perfect for that use; I haven't used it for much else. Battery life seems acceptable, though it is a little concerning that currently the meter says 83% left with 6:17 remaining, whereas a little while ago it said 87% with 7:44 remaining and I have not changed the intensity of my activity on it between those readings. That is quite the exponential drop-off. But when battery life is critical (and when physical space is at a premium) I can use the smaller Chromebook or a different device. The screen looks nice for what it is. I have no problem with the resolution: I was coming from a larger-screen laptop with the same resolution, so this was actually an upgrade. The major caveat I will insert here is that the screen is NOT GLOSSY (BrightView) like the description says. Upon un-boxing this was a major disappointment and almost a dealbreaker for me. It seems difficult to find an inexpensive unit with a glossy screen these days. But most people seem to want the antiglare/matte finish now, and since I like the computer so much overall I decided to put up with it. A couple other caveats: The case is kind of flimsy, so I am not sure how this will hold up physically over time; and there is only an microSD rather than full-size SD card reader, which originally was not my preference, but I do own several microSDs and maybe it was time to phase out the full-size anyway. And it IS nice to have the card fit all the way into the unit, unlike the full-size SD that slides only halfway into my other Chromebook. SO, why did I rate this five-stars despite so many caveats? I don't know. I tend to be a negative writer, so take me with a grain of salt. But really, this is just a very pleasing device to use, I became comfortable with it immediately, and I think we will have some happy times together. So in the final analysis I have no real complaints. Buy it.

Love it!!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo glad I bought this laptop!! Almost bought an Acer but this one had a MicroSD slot. So for $50 more than I was going to pay for the Acer, I have expandable memory. For internet usage and online apps this thing is pretty quick and reliable. This computer is good looking with a nice screen size. The track pad is responsive and user friendly. All of the Google features and shortcuts are intuitive and easily accessable. This computer is well thought out and fun to use. The only downside I can think of is that the only way to print is through cloudprint. I have not found a way to print via WiFi. Other than that this computer is solid and useful. If you are looking for a basic setup for youtubing, email, documents, web browsing, this is your laptop. I don't regret buying it for a second.

Great product for web surfers
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis product is perfect for my mother (or person) who just likes to browse the net and play FB games. Its does all the things her tablet does and more. And like a tablet, I'm not on the phone as tech support all day! There's minimal settings for her to disrupt. For under $300 it's was cheaper than a quality tablet and a lower end laptop. You're not going to do any better than this for a person with simple needs.
Q: QuestionDoes this Chromebook needs an antivirus?
Asked by Lila.
- A:Answer No. Google Chromebooks do not use an operating system. Google web browser is your operating system here (so to speak). Google automatically provides updates. I've had my HP Chromebook for 2 years already and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Q: QuestionCan i use windows in this laptop
Asked by Helen.
- A:Answer No Windows. A chromebook is strictly for use on the Google Chrome internet browser. The Chromebook has a Google version of Word, Excel, etc. I haven't used any of it in much depth but you can definitely open a Word document and edit it but its functions may be limited. You cannot save/download software on a Chromebook. It's not made for that. It's made for basic use of the internet (any website you would normally go to on a daily basis). I've had mine for 2 years now and it's a great, fast device. It's good for people whose computer use is mainly things like Facebook, Banking, Netflix, Checking Email. I consider it just a tablet with a keyboard - in the shape of a laptop. There could be a little more to it that I'm not aware of but my use of it is very basic. Fits my needs.

Q: QuestionThe description does not match the title nor does the price. Is this a chromebook or a gaming laptop at 250 bucks?
Asked by Santz.
This question was asked about the related product: HP - 14" Chromebook - Intel Celeron - 4GB Memory - 16GB eMMC Flash Memory - Sky blue with a snow white cover- A:Answer I ordered it, all things point to a windows laptop the model # the description in the headline, the what's included, the overview. There is just one mention of a chrome book. If it is a chrome book it's going right back and I'll bring the product description with me to the store and try and get them to match with something else. Either way I'll let you know what it is when I receive it.

Q: QuestionHello! Does this have a wifi? I am a college sudent right now and finding a cheap laptop. Can Microsoft Word be downloaded to this chromebook? Thank you!!
Asked by CollegeStudent.
- A:Answer Microsoft word cannot be added. But both browser based word processors, such as Google drive, google documents and outlook one drive with word documents can be used to write for college. I'd recommend this for an affordable alternative. Lear which choice is best for you either Microsoft outlook's one drive and documents. Or Google's office suite. I used Google all through college and it got the job done, with honors. Pick one up, it's a great light weight affordable addition to the college library desktop PC. Once you learn to use them together.
