Q: QuestionCan this be installed outside in an enclosed cabinet?(1 answer)
A: AnswerHi Outside, here is the link to the "Installation Guide" for this model: https://bit.ly/3scpKfp You will need to look at the "Location Requirements" which are on page 2 to see if the location fits the criteria listed. - A: AnswerIt seems to keep the ice cold but not so cold that the cubes stick together. These are small cubes, which would make a difference I suppose. Larger cubes could be completely frozen, but these are designed so that one can scoop them out in scoop that is provided, thus need to be loose. I've had this brand and model ice maker for 25 years (replaced a couple of times) and really like the loose - scoopable - small cubes.

Q: QuestionI see questions about pumps below. do I need to buy a pump as well?(1 answer)
A: AnswerHi Michael, There are two different types of Freestanding Ice Makers - with (KUID508HPS) or without (KUID308HPS which is the one you have linked here that doesn't have a pump) a drain pump. Which type you need to purchase is dependent on where you are going to install the ice maker and what type of drain you have. IF you happen to need a model with pump, have a look at model number at the following linked here: https://bit.ly/3xWmk4R Below are the details to help you decide what you will need: Floor Drain If the drain is directly below the ice maker, a pump is not needed and will use gravity to drain the water. Drain lines must have a 1" drop per 48" (2.54 cm drop per 122 cm) of run or ¹⁄4" drop per 12" (6.35 mm per 30.48 cm) of run and must not have low points where water can settle. The floor drains must be large enough to accommodate drainage from all drains. No Floor Drain A drain pump is designed to pump water to a maximum height of 10 ft (3 m) and is necessary when a floor drain is not available. Use only KitchenAid approved drain pump kit Part Number 1901A. Some models come with the drain pump already equipped, if your ice maker didn't come with a drain pump, and it is needed, it can be purchased as an accessory. We hope this helps! Noisy and ice cubes are very small
I installed this ice maker in my bar. Not very impressed with the small ice cube size. I thought they would much bigger. The worst thing, it is very noisy!! I had kitchen aid appliances before and never had anything bad to say but this ice maker is not what I expected.

Ice Maker not Draining & Flooding Kitchen
Ordered this ice maker in December. It was delivered late to mid-January and had the same issue with water filling up the ice compartment and overflowing causing a flood. I called to report the issue, had to wait another 3wks for them to deliver a new ice maker and ended up having the same problem. Before calling BestBuy again, I called Kitchenaide and asked for a service tech to come and take a look. The tech from Kitchenaide was very nice and explained that the ice maker is gravity fed and a pump is needed to pump out the water. That's when we realized that the original installers never took the pump out of the original ice maker and transferred over to the not one but two new ice makers delivered by BestBuy. If your drain hose is running across the kitchen to the sink and not downwards into a plumbing line in a basement, the ice maker will not drain. The BestBuy installers should have known to take our pump out of the ice maker we were replacing and reinstall it into the first new ice maker. Heading into the 3rd month of aggrevation with a non-functioning ice maker that cost almost $3,000 and it doesn't come equipped with a pump???? Now we have to pay for another pump (if we can find one) to replace the one taken by the original installers.
