Great Dryer ruined by horrible Bestbuy service

Let's be honest. This is a fantastic dryer. We love it. The steam function works great, and it's a nice looking unit too! Buy this dryer..... But...... Here's the problem - The Best Buy Tuttle Crossing, Dublin Ohio location had the worst installation and customer service experience I've EVER had at a major retailer. The outsourced installers miswired the unit, leaving it ungrounded! They didn't use a strain relief so the wires were just hanging out the back of the dryer. They also reused the foil dryer vent hose since they didn't know how to use the "semi-rigged" kit that Best Buy sold us without leaving the dryer almost 18 inches from the wall. Since it was wired wrong, it burned out the master motherboard and almost caused a fire. The store hemmed and hawed over rescheduling the install, promising us 1 date, then bait and switching to another. After speaking with the Executive Office, they issued us a "make good" gift card and promised us the local store Manager would be reaching out to discuss further. Guess who we never heard from - the local store just ignored us. Avoid this store at all costs.

    Not Working

Well, this dryer was good, no problems...while it was working. Two months after I paid what I consider is a lot of money for a washer and dryer, the dryer stopped working. The entire control panel is apparantly fried. After a few phone calls to LG , two repair companies, and two weeks, I am still without a working dryer, and apparantly this will continue for at least another couple of weeks. I guess this is a regular problem as the part required to fix the dryer is not available right now, all used up on their defective dryers I expect. LG is not prepared to replace the defective dryer but hey all is great as they will issue a check towards laundromat costs, that makes this so much better. Dont expect any assistance from Best Buy either ,apparantly if you dont spend the extra money and buy their extended warranty plan on your brand new warrantied appliance up front, after 14 days you are on your own. So right now I am swearing off all LG products and Best Buy also .

    First one was defective

We purchased the washer and dryer based largely on reviews of the products both here at Best Buy and on Consumer Reports. Best Buy delivered the pair in a timely manner and I really enjoyed the delivery team. Installation was included with the purchase however they will not install a product you purchase from them unless you also purchase their installation kit as well. Anyway, I installed them both myself without a hitch. From day 1 the dryer simply wasn't quite right. Cloths were not dry after completing an automatic dry cycle then one morning 2 weeks in my wife tossed an item in to get the wrinkles out and when pushing the start button a loud pop and the dryer would not run. The next day the unit would run for about 5 minutes then an error would show up on the screen. I contacted LG and made arrangements for repair. The local repairman arrived 3 days later, told me he would order a control panel and be back roughly 1 week later when the parts arrived. We had a billing issue with Best Buy so I contacted them and they not only correctly the billing issue but made arrangements to have a new dryer delivered to replace the bad one. This unit works like a top. Apparently we just got a lemon the first go around. Thanks Best Buy for standing behind your products.

    My favorite dryer ever

I did all my homework on dryers since this is the 3rd I've bought in 10 years. I'm tired of the claims of the wonderful new features and then the dryer doesn't do what it says. The last one was a Maytag, by the time the first dust bunny collected underneath the heating element started going bad. Thus the part replacement parade began. Maytag said the heat problems centered around not keeping the lint cleaned out. I cleaned the trap every single time and used a vacuum once a week to get it out, still had issues. Then by dumb luck, on my way to buy a thermostat, I saw this beat up beauty sitting in the clearance floor. Yes mine had a dent in the side, wonderful husband fixed it! For the SAME price as THE REPLACEMENT PARTS I BOUGHT THIS DRYER! The steam is such a wonderful feature! It sanitizes your laundry or I use it get the wrinkles out of my husband's work shirts. The drying cycles are less than my washer's quick cycle (sad). The lint trap ACTUALLY catches lint! Who knew that was possible!?! I can use my phone to connect to the dryer and make new cycles not already programmed on the machine. I'm so glad I bought this machine that I'm praying for my washer to die soon too...

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with this dryer. I've tried different settings with different types of clothing. From your everyday wear to towels and bedding. All setting seems to leave your clothing a little damp unless you set the dryer to very dry. I shouldn't have to set this each time I use the dryer. I think it should save your preferences but I guess this would be to convenient for the customer. I thought I would like the steam cycle to get wrinkles out but it leaves a shirt wet after this cycle. The dryer is so big that if you only have 1 or 2 items in the dryer, it doesn't seem to want to dry properly. It will leave the items with wet spots. With a larger load it works fine and dryer evenly. One of the only things I like about this dryer is the way the door opens. I think this is a cool and neat feature to have but definitely not worth the money I spent. Felt like it should work better then it does.

    Some dumb things

The first thing you must do I permanently turn off energysaver or it will turn on each time. Push and hold it for 3-4 seconds. If you use the setting it will run the dryer for 15 min without any heat. What is the point of that???? It basically adds 15 min of time onto each load. Using the normal cycle uses medium heat and normal dryness. Medium heat is way too low and will take a normal load well over an hour to dry it. Also normal dry always leaves my clothes still wet. So you then have to run it again to dry them. I had to create a custom program with high heat and more dry. I have to run this every time. That is just a bad design. These are just normal clothes. I once had a large load take 2:40 min to dry a load.

    Terrific Dryer

Have had this electric dryer for about 2 months and am very happy with its performance to date. The stainless steel dryer drum is huge and the dryer is quieter than the other dryers I have owned. Favorite features are the steam cycle (great to freshen up clothes, pretreat stains, and remove wrinkles from folded up tablecloths, etc.) and the dryer door. Yes, the door! It's large and can be installed to swing open from the right or left, AND pull open from the top (tilt out about 30 degrees) so you don't have to bend over when moving wet clothes from the washer to the dryer. Simply take the wet clothes out of the washer and drop them on the tilted out dryer door where they drop down into the dryer drum. Perfect for the way my laundry room is configured.

I've owned this dryer for a month now and have thought about returning it on several occasions. For one, it takes FOREVER to dry clothes. Even at high temp it takes longer than I think it should. Second, it's complicated. It has many programs, none of which I LOVE so I always end up fooling around with the settings to try and figure out the right combination of settings for my needs. I haven't come up with it yet. It supposedly has some sort of sensor to stop the dryer when the clothes are dry. EVERY time my clothes are still damp. It NEVER dries my clothes completely unless I put it on "timed dry". All in all, I find myself aggravated with it more than I should be. It was an expensive annoyance.
