Better than Zagg
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried the Zagg rugged book go, but ended up returning it due to the fact that I prefer to have the keyboard flip behind the iPad instead of having to completely remove it to use the iPad as a normal tablet. The Logitech keyboard feels nice, has better key ergonomics and I also like that the keyboard turns on/off automatically when the iPad is not in keyboard mode. Backlight also seems to be a bit brighter. Accessing the Pencil is easier as well, and I like that there is a loop holder that provides more security when the iPad is thrown in a bag so it doesn’t come loose. Another nice touch is the flap has a magnet to hold it out of the way when the case is not closed. I have had other folio style cases when that flap is literally flapping around. Only negative thing is the weight when holding the iPad with the keyboard folded, but that is to be expected. Is it worth the price...? I think this case will get a lot of use from me. I have a bad habit of going through cases until I find one that I like. This one is a winner.

Logitech - Slim Folio Pro Keyboard Case
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I compared this and the Apple keyboard and this just feels right. It’s the closest thing to an actual keyboard than anything out there with some decent protection.

Good cover, poor magnet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited several months for Zagg to come out with a good keyboard/cover for the (then) new iPad Pro (2018) 12.9" screen. Their product development decision was to make a two-piece cover with keyboard. I wasn't happy with the detachable nature of that keyboard, and it came apart when folding it fully back (like a sketch pad). Given Logitech's brand reputation, I figured I would be safe getting a product from them. Wrong. Sort of. While the material for the part that holds the iPad is good, and the keyboard itself is solid, it's unique magnet system is the weak point. Logitech designed the cover with strong magnets at the bottom that, when placed over corresponding magnets in the keyboard, turn on the keyboard and trigger the bluetooth module to initiate its connection to the tablet. It is a solid design, much more reliable than a physical switch, and it has the advantage of being a reliable way for the keyboard to conserve power: if not connected --> turn off the bluetooth. Easy. Smart. However, the magnets themselves are held in place on the outer cover only with a thin strip of plastic-like material, like a thin piece of vinyl. The magnets are so strong that they resist being removed from their counterparts on the keyboard. Over time, the vinyl stretches and eventually fails. The result is that the magnets stay stuck to the keyboard, and the recesses where the magnets are supposed to be become exposed. (See pictures.) For me, with casual use of the tablet, it took about 5 months for the wear to become noticable, 3 months after that, the first magnet failure happened, 3 months after that, the other side's magnet failed, and then about another 5 months before the repeated failures reached the point that it is now more hassle than it's worth to keep the cover on. Another problem with the magnets is that they are strong. Really strong. They're so strong, in fact, that they click almost violently into place. Sadly, they are not sturdy; the magnets eventually snapped. This compounds the problem noted above, because when the magnet pieces need to be put back into their recesses, there are two or three that need to be put back. The "fix" is to use glue to keep the magnets in their respective places. Perhaps Gorilla Glue, Krazy Glue, or some other brand of cyanoacrylate (CA) glue will be strong enough. My concern is that even if the glue holds the pieces in place, repeated 'clicking' together of the magnets will likely eventually break the glue's bond. Fortunately, I bought the 2-year support plan. For about $24, a buck a month, product failure like this should be covered. So, what did I do? Glue it or exercise the protection plan? I went back and got another one. It turns out that there are no other 2018 12.9" iPad keyboard-case combos in stock at my local Best Buy that are sturdy enough to be called "protective". The basic Apple product is a thin plastic with practically no protective value, and the other cases out there just don't have the same feature set. So, I'll get the best one for my needs, pay the protection plan fee, and rest assured that even if it blows out again, I'll at least be able to get a refund. Maybe in 18 months, there will be a better option.

Can only place your Apple Pencil on one side?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was thrilled to see that Logitech has made the Keyboard Folio for the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. Easy to see that it is very LARGE and bulky, even as a "slim" design. I was intimidated at first but when I finally got my iPad in it, it nearly matches my 14" laptop in mass. It has some good points, and some noticeable short comings in my opinion. Pros: -Easy to setup. Bluetooth is easy to set up and pair with your iPad. It does not come with a charging cable, but it powered on and connected flawlessly with no issues. -Converts easy enough in 3 modes: Type mode (traditional keyboard/screen set up for easy typing), Sketch mode (laying it down to write), and Draw/Create mode (allows you to have the perfect angle to sketch your designs). It does not feel awkward at all despite the size and bulky nature. -Backlit keys: This is by far one of the best features on this keyboard. I've used Logitech keyboards for iPads in the past and was spoiled to the backlit keyboards on my laptops. I believe this should be a standard on all keyboards, so of course you can imagine my glee seeing the blue lights behind each key. Thank you Logitech! -Key pressure: this is a treat because it does feel like a traditional keyboard. My 10 year old is learning how to type in school and was always frustrated with some 3rd party keyboards that feel too flimsy or soft. The Logitech keys are nice where they do feel very traditional and since I'm a hard typer, this feels very good on my fingers. With the size of the 12.9 iPad Pro, the spacing is very good. -Charging: I mentioned that there was no charging cable. Well, you don't need one because this has a USB-C input which means you can plug in your iPad Pro charging cable in it as well. So now you no longer need to use a different cable to charge this accessory and just rely on 1 cable for both keyboard and iPad. This SHOULD be the standard as well for accessories: match the cable of the device. Cons: -Apple Pencil 2nd Gen storage. They say that the flap that keeps the case closed is where you store the Pencil. That's nice because it does secure it down and you don't need to worry about it falling off. The problem for me is that this is the only place you can put the Apple Pencil. You can NO LONGER connect it to the Top of the iPad because there are magnets from the case there and it REPELS the pencil, therefore, you cannot stick it there. That is frustrating because there are times where I don't want it to constantly charge my pencil. Is it worth knocking down 1 star? For me yes. Otherwise this is the best keyboard case for the iPad Pro. Overall, I am very impressed and happy with the Logitech Keyboard Folio. It is bulky and at times can feel heavy, but I feel that my iPad Pro is safe and secured. Great addition for your iPad, making it one step close to replacing your laptop experience.

Versatile yet a little bulky
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This keyboard case has a few great features that I absolutely love but it comes with a few drawbacks. First the good stuff. It’s a solid keyboard. Backlit keys make night typing really easy and the keys themselves are responsive and comfortable. The case has rubber bumper-style edges for rough travel (though I wouldn’t recommend dropping it to test its durability)it has all the keys that a apple computer would, essentially making your iPad more similar to a MacBook. The shortcut keys also help when needing to quickly search for something or to get back to your home screen. It also has a slot for your Apple Pencil if you sprung for one (though while in the holder I noticed it doesn’t charge). A few of the downsides. The battery key only gives you a light when pressed not really telling you how much charge the case has left and it doesn’t register as a traditional Bluetooth item in the battery widget so you cannot see how much charge is left. However I will say that it holds a charge rather well seeing I have yet to charge it since I received it (which has been over a week with moderate usage). I noticed that on the packaging it boasted a slightly raised tablet mode for comfortable drawing or writing with the Apple Pencil, no matter what I tried I couldn’t get this to do it without it feeling awkward and not quite right. Also it’s awfully bulky. Expect it to at least double the weight and thickness of your iPad. Overall, if you want your iPad to function more like a laptop hybrid, then this case may be just what you’re looking for.

Excellent Choice!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at this keyboard, the apple folio, and the brydge. I wanted something that would protect the ipad and allow me to read magazines and such in portrait mode, along with the obvious typing requirement. The brydge does not have 360 degree hinge so it's cumbersome to use the ipad in portrait mode, plus it offers no corner protection, and there's some concern that the hinges may have caused stress cracks on the glass. The apple option, while by far the lightest, offers no drop protection for the ipad. While I don't plan on dropping it, things happen. I went back and forth about the Logitech and finally ordered one for pickup. Glad I did. It checks all the boxes for me. Some people wrote about how thick it makes the ipad, I didn't find it an issue because it had a good feel to it. In fact, a lot of the thickness is due to the corner protection and spacing the keyboard from the screen. So it's all justified. The typing experience is great and smooth. Also, it stays steady when used on my lap when sitting in a recliner. It's easy to work when opening and closing, plus there's a couple options for portrait mode (ipad over keyboard or wrap keyboard behind the ipad) that work good. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend. Hoping for a long future with this one.
