A:AnswerI asked the same question when I bought mine. The sales rep explained that Insignia is Best Buy's store brand and they can build the units at a relatively inexpensive cost. He assured me that the parts were all from name brand suppliers. You are simply not paying for the "NAME". I've only had mine for a month as of this writing, but have had good success (see my review for more details).
A:AnswerThis was bought for my daughter to use in college as her standard sized laptop was too large to easily be carried around on a daily basis. Since Microsoft Office 365 was the standard used by all departments on campus, an ipad or android device would not have worked very well. So far there have been no issues loading and running Office or connecting to various wifi spots. Also, in tablet mode it makes a pretty good e-reading device for digital textbooks. My daughter also says the keyboard layout is more comfortable to use while typing than my slightly smaller 10" tablet. We compared the keyboard size to a Surface and they seem about the same overall.
A:Answerthe old w6100 uses an old version atom processor Z3735F
the 7100 uses a newer cherry trail x5 z8300 which is smaller so it runs cooler
the performance is similar but the graphics are a little better on the newer chip
A:AnswerHi Sam,
I'm not sure if Office is sold as a one-time purchase anymore since they like to push the Office 365 Subscription.
However, you can use Office in a web browser. Just log into the mobile versions of Word/Excel/PowerPoint. If you have a hard time finding them, I know you can access them through the OneDrive website.
Another solution would be to install OpenOffice (free open source office suite) onto the device.
A:AnswerShort Answer:
No it is not compatible with Windows ink which is just Windows new pen support as the old Surface's had lousy pen support. Win Ink compatibility must be stated.
Long Answer:
It's pretty cool though and is slowly trickling down to lower end tablets. Just because it is Windows 10 compatible does not mean it will run every Windows program. Win Ink must be built into the display and hardware. Yes you can use One Note and draw with your finger pretty well. You can try a stylus but i have not had much luck with them compared to just zooming in to draw fine points if needed with finger. If a tablet or 2/1 says pen/stylus support it does and usually comes with the one that works with it, if not... . All of the the all in ones do I believe.
Good new is your really don't need it unless you are an architect (Autodesk Autocad etc.), artist (Adobe illustrator, Photoshop etc.) Again, both One Note and non ms great product PDF Annotator draw very well with fingers. Finally I use PDF Annotator for annotating music compositions.
A:AnswerIt is tricky to update any computer these days that has only 32GB eMMC to the Creators update due to the install process needing so much temporary space to work with to download the update and create a backup of the current install. Therefore, what I had to do with my Dell laptop that has only 32GB was use the "Windows 10 Media Creation Tool" and download the Creators update to a USB drive, and install the update directly from from the USB drive.
A:AnswerYes it will recognize 5Ghz wireless band. As far as gaming goes, if the game is something simple, it should play it, if its graphically intensive, nope. Its hard to compare the processor to that of those used in android and apple products as the different operating systems put different strains on processors.
A:AnswerYour question is impossible to answer as it is, as you have not stated what software you wish to run. This machine has the advantages of being very small and inexpensive. The bad points are a slow processor, little RAM, and little storage space. This can run ANY Windows 10 software, as long as it does not need too much memory or hard drive space.
Office applications (word processing, etc.) should be just fine on this machine. Light web browsing should be fine too, as long as you do not open up too many tabs. Due to the size, the keyboard is going to be more cramped, and older people might have a hard time with full HD on such a small screen, but you can always attach a separate monitor and keyboard.
A:AnswerIt has it's own dedicated graphics processor, so you cannot install a graphics card with this. These units are not designed to play highly graphics intensive games, so if the game you are thinking of is high speed with sophisticated and intense graphics, this might not be the unit for you.
A:AnswerI don't think this device has a location device built in. At least, mine doesn't work on GPS. It can get me approximate location based on my WiFi (thanks Google), but I doubt it will work beyond that.
That said, you can get a good USB charger for your car and plug this into it. Try to find one that is at least 2.4A 5V and it should be just fine.
A:AnswerDepending on what kind of stylus you try to use, it should work. If you use a stylus with a rubberized tip, it will work great. If you try to use a surface stylus with just the plastic point, it likely won't work at all. Your palm on the screen while writing is going to interfere though, so watch for that.
