QuestionWhat specific ram do I need in order to upgrade to 16GB of memory?

- Answer You can use Crucial memory. I know that works. The spec is DDR4 3200 SODIMM. You can confirm this using the Crucial site and plugging in this ASUS model. You would replace the removeable 4GB with an 8GB. The system max is 16GB and there is 8GB soldered on board so just use the 8GB to replace the 4GB. By the way there is a piece of protective tape on the 4GB chip, so remove that and put the tape on your new 8GB chip and then install it.

QuestionImages indicate this unit has a OLED display yet tech specs say it does not. Does this unit have an OLED display or are the pictures false advertising?

- Answer Not OLED. I think the confusion is that some models of the Vivobook 16 are OLED and cost more. This one is LED and I tested the colors and they are fantastic anyway.

- Answer you can not download anything that does not come from the Micro soft store. This is called the S-mode. It's suppose to be a security feature. But it can be turn off to allow installation of non MS software.

- Answer The ASUS Vivobook 16 (M1603QA) does not support external displays via any USB port. In order to connect an external display you would need to use the HDMI 1.4 port.

- Answer You can replace the 4GB memory with an 8GB memory DDR4 3200 SODIMM. You could also upgrade the SSD. Note this SSD is not a 2.5 form factor but rather an M.2 type. By the way ASUS will not warranty the new parts of course.

- Answer YES. I’ve installed COD black ops 3, Xplane 12, transport fever 2, City Sky lines, tower simulator 3 and many more. This thing is fast, we’re taking 3.2 Ghz 8 core processor. No lag at all in my games. Recommend you upgrade memory though, in put one 16GB ram and it maxed out at 24 Gb.

- Answer No, given Inventor needs 32 gigs of Ram to run well. This laptop only has 12 GB of ram. This laptop also does not have a dedicated video card.

- Answer Windows Defender is all you need now a days. At most, get malware bytes free and do a scan once every 2 weeks or when you're downloading things you're unsure of.

- Answer Purchased mine late September 2023, small sticker on the bottom says 07/2023 is mfgr. date. No back-lit keyboard on this exact model. - Answer Power Point, Word, etc, Should work without a hitch. This processor is overkill and I highly recommend. The NVME SSD will also help those programs but this will solve a lot of your performance woes. The memory at 12GB is more than sufficient for word processing and web browser tabs. It should be more than capable for the next 5 years if your doing Web browsing and Word/Power Point. Downloading its really fast. WIFI 6 so on the right network its a boss. I don't really notice the downloads happening and anything less than 1GB in size is basically instantaneous if your home/school/work network is fast enough. Its got a 512GB NVME SSD, So far its been very fast, Boots to windows very fast, download save Very fast, and I personally haven't broken 100GB of usage yet but Given your workload I cant imagine breaking that unless you download a lot of videos.

- Answer No built-in CD/DVD drive, but you can connect an external CD/DVD drive to one of its USB ports. Best Buy sells external CD/DVD drives for about $30 to $40. I bought one from Best Buy made by LG and it works fine.
