A:AnswerHello and thank you for your question. Typically with a Sonos ARC or soundbar, you would not need a receiver in the chain. As I am not seeing HDMI ARC or optical audio out on the EPSON 4010, I could recommend a different speaker system to be paired with the Denon AVR-S960H. Another option is to purchase a HDMI Audio extractor. From the Apple TV, connect the audio extractor allowing you to run digital optical audio to the Sonos and HDMI to the EPSON. I searched for HDMI optical splitter.
A:AnswerYour Rega Planar 1 TT has a built in MM phono stage. Grounding will be done by your TT. In this case, do not use the phono in on the AVRS960H. Connect the Planar 1 into one of the Analog inputs. Example; CABL/SAT, DVD, AUX, or CD.
A:AnswerYes the Denon AVR-S960H will pair nicely with the wonderful Definitive Technology Mythos speakers. The STS speakers are rated at 93bd sensitivity with a built in amp to handle the demanding low end. Making it easy to drive for most receivers. The AVR-S960H is a great match with its ability to handle 4 to 8 ohms speaker loads.
A:AnswerThe video pass thru feature works only with HDMI inputs; it will not work with the old composite video input, so you’ll need to turn on the receiver to view your laser discs.
A:AnswerThe 960 should pass thru 4K input. If the input source is less than 4K then it can be upscaled to up to 8K. There is no difference between Toslink and optical; they are describing the same thing and are interchangeable, i.e., your current optical cable should work.
A:AnswerNo. Zone 2 is an audio out feature. The two HDMI outputs will display the same output to 2 separate monitors or TVs or as I use it into 2 separate HDMI inputs on the same TV. I use it this way because my TV has one HDMI 2.1 HDMI port and a separate 2.0 port for ARC. Why it was configured this way is beyond me but this allows me to get HDMI 2.1 input to my TV (read XBOX Series X) and ARC audio back to the receiver (good for streaming as well).
A:AnswerNo, as the S960H does not have an optical/coax out or a set of analog pre-outs to connect to the Bose module. Our X3700H model is the first with a Main Zone pre-out section in order to do this.
