- Answer You can plug a Sonos Port via either an analog or coaxial digital input. The receiver itself supports the competing HEOS whole home audio system which provides similar functionality to the Sonos system. If you do not currently have a Sonos system, you should consider using HEOS speakers and components for whole home audio.

QuestionHow many wireless speakers could I place for my home theater system with this receiver? Is Heos meant just for music in multiple rooms or can they be incorporated into the home theater?

- Answer Hello Jordan, HEOS speakers can only be paired as wireless rear speakers with the Denon Home 550 Soundbar. They cannot be paired as wireless speakers with our AV receivers. All main and surround speakers require a hardline connection to the receiver. HEOS speakers may be paired with our AV receivers for multi-room/multi-zone speakers.

- Answer Hello, The AVR-X3800H receiver provides 9 channels of amplification and 11.4 channels of processing. With the addition of an external 2-channel amplifier, a 7.4.4 or 9.4.2 speaker configuration is possible. For additional speaker configurations greater than what the 3800H can provide, please look to the Denon AVR-X6800H receiver, which offers 11 channels of amplification and 13.4 channels of processing.

- Answer Hello Don. If you have no more than 7 speakers (not including the subwoofer/s) in the family room, you will not require an external amplifier to power a pair of speakers in another room/zone. You can assign the 'Height 1' speakers to Zone 2 duties. Here is a link to the details: https://manuals.denon.com/AVRX3800H/NA/EN/DRDZSYckfdjdpu.php If you already have nine speakers connected, you can use an external amplifier to connect your Zone 2 speakers using the Zone 2 pre-outs of the AVR-X3800H.

- Answer Hello! The Denon AVR-X3800H comes with 9 channels of amplification. Two of these channels can be assigned to power outdoor speakers, while two more channels remain available for future use (like Atmos or 7.1) in your media room.

- Answer The Denon AVR-X3800H receiver does provide 9 channels of amplification. One option is to power 7 channels dedicated to the main surround system and use the extra two channels for Zone Two. Max number of wired zones from the 3800H is 2. Suggestions for adding additional zones, 1. Use a speaker selector box from the Zone Two speaker terminals. A speaker selector box safely distributes the receiver's power to the four rooms. Individual volume can be accomplished either by local in-wall volume controls or a speaker selector box with volume control ability. 2. An external multi-channel amplifier can be connected to the Zone Two pre-output section. 3. HEOS, the Denon AVR-X3800H has HEOS. Up to 32 wireless zones can be accomplished with HEOS. - Answer Seems like what your sharing to the rest of the house is just two channel audio. So you could have basically any receiver that supports a Zone 2 (they all do these days). Receiver powers your Home theatre setup and the Zone 2 stereo output goes over to your Sonance which then presumably powers your other home audio. If your planning on the Denon receiver actually powering all of those channels going to all your rooms…that’s not the way to go about it. The output from Zone 2 should go to a separate and dedicated multichannel amp for home audio. Sonance certainly makes amps like that.

- Answer Hello, Unfortunately, the AVR-X3800H does not have the necessary inputs for a VHS player or an older DVD player. In order to connect a VHS deck and an older DVD player, we recommend considering the AVR-X4800H as it has the analog video inputs (component and composite) required, and can then upconvert the signal to an HDMI feed to a modern flat screen TV. The necessary analog (VHS) and digital (DVD) audio inputs are also found on the AVR-X4800H.

- Answer The four subs provide subwoofer placement within the main room. Sub 4 may also be used for a tactile transducer (Rump Shaker).

- Answer Just realized there are no analog inputs on this device; composite, component, etc., so the pass through is not an option.
